Clint Eastwood scored his first big break when he was cast as Rowdy Yates on the CBS TV series "Rawhide." He starred as the cattle driver from 1959 to 1965.

Clint Eastwood married Maggie Johnson after six months of dating on Dec. 19, 1953. Though the pair were together for almost 30 years, their relationship — which was riddled with scandals — came to an end in 1978 when Maggie filed for legal separation before making their divorce final in 1984. The pair have two children together: a daughter, Alison, who was born on May 22, 1972, and a son, Kyle, who was born on May 19, 1968. Clint also fathered a daughter, Kimber, whose mother is dancer Roxanne Tunis, during his relationship with Maggie.

By the end of the '60s, Clint Eastwood had become a bona fide Western star after landing the leads in "A Fistful of Dollars" (pictured), "For a Few Dollars More" and "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly."

Clint Eastwood made his directorial debut with 1971's "Play Misty for Me," in which he starred as radio DJ Dave Garver.

Clint Eastwood made his debut as San Francisco Police Department Inspector Harry Callahan in 1971's "Dirty Harry." He'd go on to play the role four more times: in 1973's "Magnum Force," in 1976's "The Enforcer," in 1983's "Sudden Impact" and in 1988's "The Dead Pool."

Clint Eastwood and Sondra Locke may have met on the set of 1973's "Breezy," but it wasn't until they co-starred in the 1976 flick "The Outlaw Josey Wales" (pictured) that they became a real-life couple. Though they went on to co-star in many more movies together, their relationship came to a bitter end during the late '80s. Clint secretly fathered two children with flight attendant Jacelyn Reeves: a son, Scott, who was born on March 21, 1986, and a daughter, Kathryn, who was born Feb. 2, 1988.

Clint Eastwood and girlfriend Sondra Locke attended the People's Choice Awards together in Los Angeles on March 5, 1981. He took home the award for favorite motion picture actor that year, an honor he'd achieve several more times over the years.

Clint Eastwood was immortalized at Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood on Aug. 21, 1984. His signature and handprints are on permanent display in concrete in the forecourt at the landmark.

Just like dad! Clint Eastwood and his son, Kyle Eastwood, co-starred as a country singer and his nephew in 1982's "Honkytonk Man."

Clint Eastwood won the Oscars for Best Picture and Best Director for his film "Unforgiven" during the 1993 Academy Awards. He celebrated his double victory with his daughter, Alison Eastwood, at the Warner Bros. afterparty in Los Angeles on March 29.

After he and Sondra Locke parted ways, Clint Eastwood moved on with actress Frances Fisher, whom he met on the set of 1989's "Pink Cadillac." The duo were expecting their first and only child together, daughter Francesca Eastwood, when they attended Bob Daly's birthday party in Los Angeles on July 31, 1993. They parted ways just two years later — after Clint had moved on with another woman.

Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep co-starred in 1995's "The Bridges of Madison County." She earned an Oscar nomination for her performance in the critically lauded film.

Clint Eastwood first met reporter Dina Ruiz in 1993 when she interviewed him for a story. They started seeing each other in 1994 — while he and Frances Fisher were still an item. It wasn't until the following year that the Oscar winner and the "Titanic" actress called it quits. Clint and Dina tied the knot in Las Vegas on March 31, 1996, and welcomed a daughter, Morgan, less than nine months later. (They'd been married for nearly two decades when Dina filed for divorce in late 2013.)

James Garner, Tommy Lee Jones, Donald Sutherland and Clint Eastwood co-starred in 2000's "Space Cowboys." The film performed well with critics and Oscar voters: It has a 78 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and scored one Academy Award nomination.

In 2005, Clint Eastwood took home Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Picture for his film "Million Dollar Baby," in which he also starred. It was the second time the multitalented star claimed Oscars in both categories during the same year.

Like father, like son! Model-actor Scott Eastwood posed with dad Clint Eastwood during the premiere of "Gran Torino" in Los Angeles on Dec. 9, 2008. Scott — who made his acting debut in another film directed by his dad, 2006's "Flags of our Fathers" — had a small role in the movie.

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy honored Clint Eastwood with the Légion d'Honneur, France's highest order of military and civil merit, at the Élysée Palace in Paris on Nov. 13, 2009.

In addition to being an actor, a director, a father and a Hollywood legend, Clint Eastwood is also active in politics. The silver fox memorably stumped for Mitt Romney by talking to an empty chair during the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida, on Aug. 30, 2012.

Clint Eastwood shared a scene with his son, rising star Scott Eastwood, in 2012's "Trouble with the Curve." He hasn't appeared on camera since the baseball-drama debuted — except in a small, uncredited role as a churchgoer in 2014's "American Sniper."

Clint Eastwood and Frankie Valli chatted on the set of 2014's "Jersey Boys," which the Oscar winner directed. Unfortunately, the big screen adaptation of the Tony-winning Broadway musical failed to make an impression. It reportedly made $67.6 million at the global box office on a production budget of $58.6 million. To make matters worse, it scored a 52 percent fresh rating with critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

Working buds! Clint Eastwood directed Bradley Cooper to an Oscar nomination with their 2014 war drama "American Sniper." The duo posed together on the red carpet during the 2015 Academy Awards, where the movie was also up for Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing, Best Sound Mixing and Best Sound Editing.
