LESSON: Your relationship status does not determine your value or worth
"My marital status has been shamed; my divorce status was shamed; my lack of a mate had been shamed; my nipples have been shamed," Jennifer Aniston told the December 2016 issue of Marie Claire. "It's like, 'Why are we only looking at women through this particular lens of picking us apart? Why are we listening to it?'"
LESSON: You don't need kids to feel like your life is complete
"I'm not in pursuit of motherhood because I feel incomplete in some way," Jennifer Aniston said in an op-ed for the Huffington Post in July 2016. She added that the public interest in her status as a parent (or not) "points to the perpetuation of this notion that women are somehow incomplete, unsuccessful or unhappy if they're not married with children." She echoed the sentiment during an interview with the December 2016 issue of Marie Claire: "I have worked too hard in this life and this career to be whittled down to a sad, childless human," she said.

LESSON: Catch some ZZZs
"Getting proper sleep is always important," Jennifer Aniston told Yahoo! Beauty in 2014. The following year, the former insomniac opened up to Arianna Huffington about her secret to getting better sleep: "My one key tip… is to sleep with my phone at least five feet away from me," she said. "That's helped me tremendously. And I also do a quick meditation before I get into bed, even if it's just for five minutes. There are also some yoga poses that I've found to be quite helpful in relaxing my mind, even if it's just a simple downward dog and some stretching. But the biggest thing is the electronics shutdown, ideally an hour before I turn off the lights. It's really a big deal."
LESSON: You'll feel better about yourself with age
"I feel better in my 40s," Jennifer Aniston told the April 2016 issue of Harper's Bazaar. "Not only do you feel better in your body physically, but you're mentally better. Because, say, in your 20s, you didn't know s—. For me, in my 30s I was just trying to figure it all out. Then when you hit 40, you're like, 'Oh, okay, I got this.'"
LESSON: Find a partner who sees you and loves you for who you truly are
"Why is he the right person for me? All I know is that I feel completely seen, and adored, in no matter what state," Jennifer Aniston said of husband Justin Theroux during an interview with the December 2016 issue of Marie Claire. "There's no part of me that I don't feel comfortable showing, exposing. And it brings forth the best part of myself, because I care about him so much. And he's such a good person. It hurts me to think of anything hurting him."
LESSON: Family time is more important than work that doesn't fulfill you
"I really have to love something to be leaving my home, my dogs, my husband. The older you get, the more you realize that," Jennifer Aniston told the April 2016 issue of Harper's Bazaar.
LESSON: Laughter (and lasers) are basically the fountain of youth
"Laughter is one of the great keys to staying youthful," Jennifer Aniston told the April 2016 issue of Harper's Bazaar. But that's not the only secret to the star's age-defying appearance: "There are so many things that women can do today with technology in terms of LED light therapy, good lasers that tighten the muscles, and massages for your face — and don't forget great creams," she told Yahoo! Beauty in 2014.
LESSON: Start using sunscreen early
"I gave myself a sun-tanning intervention a few years ago, where I was basically saying, 'Let's just quit while we're ahead,'" she told People magazine in 2015. "I was not great as a kid with sunscreen. That's one of my big regrets."
LESSON: Stay away from Botox
"I think what I have been witness to, is seeing women trying to stay ageless with what they are doing to themselves. I am grateful to learn from their mistakes, because I am not injecting s— into my face," Jennifer Aniston told Yahoo! Beauty in 2014. "I see them and my heart breaks. I think, 'Oh God, if you only know how much older you look.' They are trying to stop the clock, and all you can see is an insecure person who won't let themselves just age."
LESSON: Hydration is key
Jennifer Aniston, who's been a spokesperson for smartwater for nearly a decade, is rarely photographed out and about without a bottle of water in hand. "I drink water endlessly," the actress — who says that she drinks about five bottles a day — told People magazine in 2015. "Now it's just such habit. There are so many lazy water drinkers!"
LESSON: Lay off the shampoo and heat
"I don't wash it every day," Jennifer Aniston told Glamour in 2016 of her trademark tresses. "And I would say finding a great product like a leave-in conditioner or a dry shampoo will allow you not to have to do it so much. You just don't want to strip away the oils. Also, try to keep it away from heat as much as possible. It's hard in this industry because you're constantly being blowed and curled, but leaving it natural as often as possible can really help its health."
LESSON: Mix-up your exercise routine
"Keeping your body confused is always the key for me," Jennifer Aniston told Well + Good in 2016. "I have a trainer, a wonderful woman who I do this spin-yoga class [with]. We spin for half an hour and then do yoga for 40 minutes. That's pretty intense. Then I go to a gym, where I do strength training or just my own thing on the treadmill, the bike, or the elliptical, just to change things up."
LESSON: What you eat affects your skin
"I really believe that what you put inside your body reflects through your skin," Jennifer Aniston told Glamour in 2016. "I remember during teenage years and even in my 20s, I kind of thought I was invincible — as you do at that age — and could eat all the crap in the world. But it affected my skin. I had a few more blemishes and sometimes an uneven tone, but now I take care of it. It changes as you get older and evolves and you need to progress your regime with time."
LESSON: A simple tee and jeans never go out of style
"This is my secret: The trick to T-shirts is that I usually tailor them — which is silly, but it works," Jennifer Aniston told Yahoo! Beauty in 2014. "Or you just have to find the perfect one. James Perse has really great T-shirts and tank tops, Theory is great for T-shirts and basics, and for jeans, I have these Genetic jeans that they don't even make anymore. I take the pockets off of Hudson jeans, because I like the fit, but not the pockets. Helmut Lang does a good skinny jean too. And I wear Saint Laurent jackets."
LESSON: Don't forget a fragrance
"I wear fragrance every day and always think of it like 'the last accessory' — a kind of completion of my outfit," Jennifer Aniston told Glamour in 2016. "It's just something that makes you feel like you're all buttoned up." Added the actress, "The main thing is never having the perfume wear you. Don't pick something you feel is too strong for you and don't wear too much. Some people douse themselves in it — you want to wear a perfume and create moments with it, rather than, you know, walk into an elevator and gag from overload. Just wear it for yourself, a little behind the ear, nothing overpowering."
LESSON: You choose whether or not to be happy
"You can undo a lot of things," Jennifer Aniston told Glamour in 2013. "If you're not happy, you can become happy. Happiness is a choice. That's the thing I really feel. Like with friends who refuse to get happy, who refuse to rise above the place where they're at."
LESSON: Less is more when it comes to makeup
"I had a boyfriend who always said I looked better without makeup. It took me a while to feel comfortable enough to remove that armor, but I eventually realized he was right," Jennifer Aniston told InStyle in 2016.
LESSON: There's nothing seasonal about scarves
Jennifer Aniston is rarely photographed out and about without a scarf. "There's always a scarf," she told Glamour in 2016 of the items she thinks every woman should have in her closet. As for what else made the list, "A great black blazer, a great pair of jeans and a beautiful wedge shoe," she said.
LESSON: Don't succumb to peer pressure
"I will never [bleach out my eyebrows] again," Jennifer Aniston told ELLE in 2015 of her biggest beauty regret. "It was my first Cosmopolitan cover and Kevyn Aucoin was doing my makeup, and all of a sudden I had white foam on my eyebrows. It was a real look in the '90s, and it looks gorgeous if you're Linda Evangelista. I was so new and naive in the business, I didn't know that I could say 'no.' I had to paint in my eyebrows for three months with brown shadow."
