Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr to record John Lennon song for new Ringo album
Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are teaming up to honor their late bandmate. The former members of The Beatles recorded a rendition of John Lennon's song "Grow Old with Me," which was released posthumously on "Milk and Honey" in 1984, for Ringo's upcoming album "What's My Name." Ringo is providing vocals and drums on the new track while Paul is handling bass and backing vocals. "What's My Name" will be released on Oct. 25.

Michael Jackson's estate slams "Leaving Neverland" Emmy win
Michael Jackson's estate released a scathing statement on Sept. 16 after "Finding Neverland," a high-profile HBO documentary that centers on sexual abuse allegations against the late pop star, won an Emmy for outstanding documentary or nonfiction special at the Creative Arts Emmys on Sept. 15. "For a film that is a complete fiction to be honored in a nonfiction Emmy category is a complete farce," the Jackson estate told "Entertainment Tonight" in response to the project's win. "Not one shred of proof supports this completely one-sided, so-called documentary, which was made in secrecy and for which not one person outside of the two subjects and their families were interviewed."

Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and Lana Del Rey release "Charlie's Angels" music video
Now this is some serious girl power! On Sept. 12, music superstars Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and Lana Del Rey released the music video for their new song "Don't Call Me Angel," which is a part of the "Charlie's Angels" reboot soundtrack. "We were inspired by 'Independent Women' and Destiny's Child with the last set of movies," director Elizabeth Banks, who makes a cameo in the video, told People magazine. The video also features some mild violence, a ton of super-fierce black leather outfits and some high-powered vocals (obvi).
One dead, seven injured in Josh Turner tour bus crash
One person died and seven others were injured when a tour bus carrying Josh Turner's road crew was involved in an accident in Shandon, California, on Sept. 19, according to the San Luis Obispo County Fire Department. Authorities arrived on the scene just before midnight following Josh's performance in Paso Robles, California, about 20 minutes from the crash. The country singer is scheduled to take the stage again on Sept. 20 at the Central Washington State Fair.
Sam Smith changes preferred pronouns to they/them
Sam Smith announced on Sept. 13 that they are changing their preferred pronouns from "he/him" to "they/them." The "Stay With Me" singer shared the news on Instagram just a few months after they came out as non-binary and genderqueer. "After a lifetime of being at war with my gender I've decided to embrace myself for who I am, inside and out," they wrote. "I'm so excited and privileged to be surrounded by people that support me in this decision but I've been very nervous about announcing this because I care too much about what people think but f— it! I understand there will be many mistakes and mis gendering but all I ask is you please please try."
Playwright defends Rihanna after singer faces backlash for texting during "Slave Play"
Playwright Jeremy O. Harris is coming to Rihanna's defense after the Fenty brand founder was criticized online for texting during the Broadway production of "Slave Play." Jeremy took to Twitter on Sept. 14 to clear the air, writing, "Two things I learned today about the Type of theatre maker I am: When my idol texts that she's running late. I hold the curtain for her. When my idol texts me during a play I've written, I respond." When a fan called out Jeremy for not "condemning" RiRi's behavior, the playwright responded: "I'm not interested in policing anyone's relationship to watching a play ESPECIALLY someone who isn't a part of the regular theatergoing crowd. Moreover, as ppl on this site know I'm famously ambivalent abt phone use in theatre."
Lil Wayne misses blink-182 tour date after allegedly being kicked out of hotel
Lil Wayne decided not to perform on his joint tour with blink-182 in St. Louis on Sept. 14 after he was allegedly kicked out of a Ritz-Carlton hotel. The rapper apologized on Twitter for his disappearing act, writing that he was "kik'd out" of his hotel but "It's all luv tho." According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and KMOV, police were called to Wayne's hotel room following complaints of marijuana odors. Authorities reportedly asked Wayne to air out the room and he "wasn't happy to be asked to open the balcony doors," said the City of Clayton's interim police chief. Police also said the rapper voluntarily left the Ritz and was not asked to leave.
