'The One and Only Ivan' voice cast revealed

"The One and Only Ivan" starts streaming on Disney+ on Aug. 14, 2020, and it's packed with plenty of star power in the voice actor department. Sam Rockwell helps bring Ivan to life by lending his voice to the silverback gorilla in "The One and Only Ivan," which is based on Katherine Applegate's bestselling book — which is based on real events.

Sam Rockwell has had a very busy career in Hollywood, appearing in films ranging from "The Green Mile" in 1999 to "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" in 2005 to "Trolls World Tour" in 2020. His performances have earned him a lot of acting prizes including an Academy Award for his work in 2017's "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri," for which he also won a BAFTA Award and a Golden Globe. Sam's been dating actress Leslie Bibb — whom he met on the set of "Frost/Nixon" — since 2007, though he's been vocal about never wanting to marry or have children.

If Snickers sounds fancy and familiar, it's because the poodle is voiced by none other than Helen Mirren.

Helen Mirren is a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood. The star, who began her career on the stage as a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, has accumulated an astounding number of acting accolades: She has an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and a BAFTA Award for her work in "The Queen," a Tony Award for her performance as Queen Elizabeth II in "The Audience," and multiple Primetime Emmys for various projects. Everyone knows Angelina Jolie. The superstar made her film debut in father Jon Voight's "Lookin' to Get Out" back in 1982. She continued to work and by 24 had already won her first Academy Award thanks to her work in 1999's "Girl, Interrupted." She also did well with more mainstream commercial projects like 2001's "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider," becoming a household name. Subsequent hits like "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" opposite future ex-husband Brad Pitt, the action flick "Salt" and Disney's "Maleficent" franchise solidified her position on the Hollywood A-list. The actress has been married three times — to actor Jonny Lee Miller in the late '90s, to actor Billy Bob Thornton in the early aughts and to Brad in the mid-2010s, though they were together for more than a decade after falling in love while making "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" when Brad was still married to Jennifer Aniston. Angelina — who's also directed several movies including "In the Land of Blood and Honey," "Unbroken" and "By the Sea" — adopted son Maddox as a single parent in 2002, daughter Zahara in 2005 (Brad became her father the following year) and son Pax with Brad in 2007. They welcomed biological daughter Shiloh in 2006 and twins Knox and Vivienne in 2008. In 2016, Angelina filed for divorce after two years of marriage; the case was still not wrapped up four years later.

Child star Brooklynn Prince first hit it big in Hollywood in "The Florida Project" in 2017. Since then, she's landed voice roles in films like "The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part" and "The Angry Birds Movie 2." More recently, she appeared on Apple TV+'s "Home Before Dark."

If Bob the dog sounds familiar, that's because it's Danny DeVito voicing the four-legged character!

Danny DeVito found fame back in the '70s with a role on "Taxi." That TV show earned him a Primetime Emmy and a Golden Globe, and he's been a staple in Hollywood ever since. Films like 1988's "Twins" and 1994's "Junior" showed off his comedic chops while "Batman Returns" in 1992 and "Matilda" in 1996 allowed him to play more villainous roles. 1997's "The Rainmaker" and 1997's "L.A. Confidential" showed off his dramatic side. He's found fans in a new generation of TV watchers thanks to his hilarious work on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." He's also directed and produced over the years. He and wife Rhea Perlman of "Cheers" fame separated in 2017 after 35 years of marriage. They share three kids — daughters Lucy and Grace and son Jacob.

Henrietta the chicken is voiced by Chaka Khan.

Chaka Khan is best known for her music career: She's won 10 Grammys in 22 nominations. She started putting out music in the '70s, originally singing in a funk band called Rufus, before going solo as an R&B artist. More recently, she popped up on our television screens on season 3 of "The Masked Singer," where she competed as Miss Monster. Chaka has two children, daughter Indira and son Damien. She's been married twice, splitting from second husband Richard Holland in 1980.

Ron Funches voices Murphy the rabbit.

Audiences met Ron Funches after he landed a small role on "Portlandia" back in 2011, which he parlayed into appearances on shows like "Drunk History" and "Undateable." He's lent his voice to shows like "BoJack Horseman" and "Adventure Time" over the last decade and voiced Cooper in "Trolls" and "Trolls World Tour." More recently, he started voicing King Shark on the TV show "Harley Quinn." The actor lives in Los Angeles with his fiancée and son.

Thelma the parrot gets her voice from Phillipa Soo.

You know Phillipa Soo best from her work as Eliza Hamilton in Broadway's "Hamilton," a performance that earned her a Tony Award nomination for best actress in a musical in 2016. She also appeared on Broadway in the titular role in "Amelie" in 2017 and as Rebecca in "The Parisian Woman" in 2017 and 2018. When it comes to acting outside of the theater, she's a relative newcomer. She's dabbled in television, enjoying a role on the series "Smash" back in 2013, and she also appeared on "The Code" in 2019. Philippa married actor Steven Pasquale in 2017.

Frankie the Seal is voiced by Mike White.

The actor is a multihyphenate — he's written screenplays for funny films like "School of Rock" and "Nacho Libre" (Jack Black is a frequent collaborator) and appeared on reality TV shows like "The Amazing Race" and "Survivor." He's also acted on the HBO series "Enlightened." The talented star keeps his private life relatively private, though he years ago publicly came out as bisexual.
