"The Bachelorette" contestant Ivan Hall is opening up about his elimination on the dating show's season finale.
In the opening minutes of the Dec. 22 episode, Tayshia Adams sent Ivan packing while noting that their religious differences were too big to overcome, but neither detailed those differences. However, "The Bachelor" alum Caila Quinn reached out to Ivan on social media after the episode aired and asked the question that all of Bachelor Nation was wondering.
"Need to know the religious difference," she said. "It's killing me."
Ivan casually responded, "She only wants to date a Christian and I'm not religious."
The fan favorite noted that their difference of faith wasn't a dealbreaker for him, but it obviously was for her.
"I'm open to and have dated any religion," he said.
Tayshia spoke about her faith several times over the course of the season. Her Instagram bio even includes a Bible verse. While eliminating Ivan on the episode, she said, "This past week, we talked about some important subjects that I feel like we both needed to have. But there are some things that kinda posed concern. I wish I could say that there were a lot of red flags prior to this week, and there haven't been. At the end of the day, religion is part of my morals, my beliefs."
Ivan, 28, told Tayshia that he was "definitely struggling with bringing it up."
"All the girls I have dated in the past, it never ended because of religion or anything," he said. "But I know that's something that's important to you, and I do apologize for that, and I wish I did bring it up a little sooner. That is the roadblock for the two of us."
In the end, Tayshia ended up falling for Zac Clark, to whom she got engaged.
