The 2019 Independent Spirit Awards are here! While it's all about acting today, we can't help but also make it about fashion and seeing which stars looked radiant on the red carpet and who didn't. One person whose fashion choice certainly confused us this year was Chloe Grace Moretz, who walked the red carpet in low cut gauzy dress with pirate sleeves that didn't seem to match the Scottish vibe she had going on…

Best Female lead nominee Glenn Close must have felt inspired by tin foil when she got dressed for the Independent Spirit Awards.
Close, who walked the red carpet with her dog, chose a flattering pink color, but the metallic, crinkly look fell short and made it look like she was trying too hard to be cool.
Carey Mulligan stunned in a tea length frock with colorful beading and embellishments. Mulligan, who was nominated for her role in "Wildlife," smartly let her dress do the talking, and left any accessories other than her wedding ring at home.
Tilda Swinton's laser cut leather blazer blew us away. Swinton paired it with simple white pants, which let the top be the hero of her look.
Marcia Gay Harden looked more like a politician on the campaign trail than an actress on a red carpet with this ensemble. The teal suit, paired with a green clutch, and teal and green shoes was a major eyesore as well as wildly unflattering on her.
Forget Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown just might be the sharpest dressed person from "This Is Us." The actor looked like a million bucks in the blue three-piece suit, crisp white shirt underneath and brown shoes.
On one hand, Regina King's babydoll dress seems a little young for the 48-year-old best female lead nominee. On the other hand, this is her color! However, the color couldn't save this look…
King's 1920s hairstyle and overdone eye makeup dragged down her overall look. She was young on the bottom and retro on top — and it just felt confusing.
Not even sure where to begin with this one. Riley Keough has so many confusing elements going on here. On the bottom, the pants and booties combination feels too casual for an award show. On top, the sleeves, neckline and belt just don't make sense. It feels like Keough was trying to dress up her pajamas and, no surprise, it just did not work.
Regina Hall, who was nominated for her role in "Support the Girls," was the queen of the carpet in this white gown. The sleeves made it feel a touch less formal, and therefore perfect for this beachfront show.
Aubrey Plaza did not dress like a host. The Spirit Awards master of ceremonies appeared to have pulled out a boring, 20-year-old dress from her closet. Even her attempt at jazzing up the simple dress failed…
Plaza's shoe choice also felt retro, but not in a good way. Her round-toed heels with a brooch looked like something a grandmother would wear and did not go with her '90s style dress.
Zoe Kazan's dark, serious look for the beachside show was a departure from a lot of the other celebs, but she made it work. The contrasting patterns were risky, but ended up being a success.
Kazan really let her outfit do the talking and kept her makeup a touch dramatic, but mostly clean, in order to not clash, and it came out beautifully.
At first glance, Kiki Layne's dress seems like a total miss. But we have grown to love it! The "If Beale Street Could Talk" star looked beautiful in the white gown with turquoise stones accenting her chest. But the best part was…
Her eye makeup! The subtle turquoise eyeliner on Layne's lids sold us on the outfit, and the statement earrings didn't hurt either. It looks like this newcomer has serious potential on red carpets to come.
"Eighth Grade" star Elsie Fisher cleans up well! The 15-year-old nominee looked grown up and fashion-forward in this age-appropriate menswear look.
Lala Kent's white dress would have been neither a hit nor a miss, but then she decided to add green gloves to her ensemble and it completely ruined the clean, extremely beach-appropriate vibe she had going. Kent's gloves, from Wing + Weft, make it seem like she's prepping for surgery instead of heading to an award show.
