Fashion hits and misses from the 2020 CMA Awards

The 2020 Country Music Association Awards did not disappoint in the fashion department! Country music royalty dressed to the nines for the big night in Nashville on Nov. 11, and now it's time for Wonderwall.com to round up the best and worst dressed stars of the evening. First up — a lovely lady in red! Kelsea Ballerini is quickly becoming one of our favorite country music fashionistas, and she didn't disappoint on CMA Awards night! The singer donned this show-stopping strapless number by Dolce&Gabbana featuring cascading red roses interspersed with leave motifs and ending in gorgeous massive red roses at the hemline. Gorgeous! Take a look at those stunning rose embellishments! Kelsea Ballerini completed her darling Dolce&Gabbana look with a bold red lip and delicate diamond cuffs up her ears.

We're not always huge fans of Carrie Underwood's style, but we liked this sparkly asymmetrical number by Yousef Aljasmi that she sported at the CMA Awards. The confection featured a high neck, one long sleeve and a diagonal hemline that showed off her equally fabulous strappy sandals. Aside from loving the dress, we also loved Carrie's beauty look…

Look at those perfectly tousled waves! Carrie Underwood rocked big beachy hair on the gray carpet, and when it came for makeup, she opted for a smoky eye and peachy lip.

We love a corresponding group fashion moment, and Little Big Town truly delivered! The singers all sported a killer complementary color scheme of blacks, tans and eggplant. It started with Kimberly Schlapman in a simple and sparkly long-sleeved black gown and Phillip Sweet's tan suit and black dress shirt with a draping detail from the neck. Then came the married members' looks: Karen Fairchild opted for a black and pearl-embellished minidress, while Jimi Westbrook donned a killer eggplant suit with a black-and-white striped dress shirt underneath to tie everything together. Well done, ladies and gentlemen!

The Brothers Osbourne seriously disappointed in the fashion department. While their peers rocked tuxedos and suits, they arrived in casual garb — jeans, jackets, T-shirts and cowboy boots.

A dreamy couple in Dolce&Gabbana! Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd arrived in corresponding black looks from the fashion house — with Maren in a three-piece lace number and Ryan sporting a tux and white dress shirt from the brand plus boots from Bruno Magli. A beauty in black! Maren Morris rocked an ultra-glam lace robe by Dolce&Gabbana with a dramatic train plus satin pieces underneath that came straight from the designers' runway. She complemented her romantic ensemble with a bold red lip and dangling gold earrings.

Though Ryan Hurd's look seemed straightforward from afar, upon closer inspection, his tux was actually pretty unique. It featured a tie detail at the waist, setting it apart from other basic black tuxes of the night.

Another cute country couple who got decked out in Dolce&Gabbana? Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins! The sweethearts both wore looks from the designers — let's take a closer look at each of their couture getups next…

Darius Rucker certainly looked debonair on the gray carpet! The singer rocked a sleek black tux with a white dress shirt and tie plus black dress shoes for a classic menswear fashion moment.

While most country stars took the opportunity to get dressed up, Dierks Bentley didn't seem to get the memo. The crooner went casual on the red carpet — opting for a T-shirt, a bomber jacket, jeans and boots, underwhelming us and scoring himself a miss.

Gabby Barrett had a shimmering and splendid maternity fashion moment at the CMA Awards. The singer donned this dreamy mint green gown — complete with a cape detail! — that showed off her baby bump and featured a subtle all-over sparkle.

Considering the sea of seriously fabulous fashion on the CMA Awards' gray carpet, Sara Evans' teal minidress just couldn't compete. The overly casual frock, which featured buttons and cuffed sleeves, felt out of place on country music's big night. And adding those tan and clear heels just added insult to injury.

We love a unique menswear moment, and Morgan Wallen served that up in this bronze suit. The unique hue stood out on the gray carpet. The country crooner added a black dress shirt and boots to finish off this sharp look.

Sorry, Queen Reba McEntire! We're never a big fan of the half-dress, half-pants ensemble. Her super-sparkly top half, which included silk lapels, flowed into a full skirt in the back but split up the front to show off a pair of black trousers underneath.

Carly Pearce wowed in emerald green in this gorgeous strapless frock by Retrofete. From the stunning color to the thigh-high slit, we loved the shimmery fabric, the subtle belt detail and the way she paired it with those simple black Jimmy Choo sandals. Next up? A look at her earrings…

When it came time to add accessories, Carly Pearce rocked pretty drop earrings in a matching emerald hue. She used the Hot Tools 24K One Step Pro Blowout and Styler to achieve for voluminous 'do.

Lauren Alaina arrived at the CMA Awards looking shimmery and stunning. The star donned this sleek high-necked, long-sleeved gown that featured all-over crystal embellishments. Equally fabulous? Her pretty high ponytail!

Charlie Puth made an… interesting fashion statement on the CMA Awards red carpet. The singer opted for white separates — is it a sweater or a sweatshirt? Are those sweatpants? — and concluded his look with black sneakers for a stark contrast. Sorry, Charlie, but this one's a miss.

Model Taylor Hill stunned in this sleek black pantsuit with gold embellishments. While we loved her look, which included the most unique neckline we've ever seen on a pantsuit, it was her necklace that was truly eye-catching. See it next!

We don't expect to see Jason Aldean in a tux, but we wish the country star would've dressed up just a bit for the CMA Awards. Instead he arrived in his signature cowboy hat, a graphic T-shirt, a leather jacket and jeans, finishing up his disappointing look with brown boots.

Luke Combs kept things classy in a navy suit with a black dress shirt and black boots, while wife Nicole Hocking Combs shined in a velvety pink number with a thigh-high slit, long sleeves and a plunging neckline.

It was a very unique jumpsuit for Ingrid Andress! The country music newcomer rocked this sleeveless look, which featured silky paneling and edgy cut-outs, scoring herself a fashion hit for taking a risk.

While we love a matching couple and give kudos for the way Jon Pardi and Summer Duncan coordinated, these CMA Awards looks were a little over the top. The singer rocked his signature cowboy hat with a rose-emblazoned jacket and an all-black getup, while Summer went with a bright red design with a busy feathered border.

We didn't see too many jumpsuits on the gray carpet, but we sure liked Tenille Townes' take on the trend. Her subtly sparkly black number included long sleeves, a plunging neckline and slits up the side for a funky yet fashion-forward gray carpet appearance.

We're not entirely sure why Patrick Schwarzenegger was on hand for the CMA Awards, but we are sure about this cool look. The actor rocked a bold cream turtleneck underneath a matching double-breasted suit for a striking monochromatic look, finishing it off with sharp black boots.

The gentlemen of Old Dominion looked dapper on CMA Awards night. They all rocked black pants while varying it up with jackets ranging from simple to sparkly and even crushed velvet!

Though we liked Natalie Hemby from The Highwomen's pretty white frock and its exaggerated long sleeves and dramatic tie detail at the waist, we couldn't get over her unfortunate shoe choice! The singer opted to rock stark black platforms underneath this dreamy dress, and we weren't fans of the contrast. Next up? A look at her earring choice…

Ashley McBryde opted for electric blue at the CMA Awards. We liked her simple strapless frock, which featured some ruching and a small slit up the left side.

Jake Owen and girlfriend Erica Hartlein looked sharp in complementary looks at the CMA Awards. The couple hit the gray carpet in black and white — Jake rocking a black tux with embellished lapels, a white dress shirt and a black skinny tie, and Erica donning a fitted white strapless frock with a rich textured fabric and a diminutive train.

Laura Veltz kept things edgy in black with this unique number. The frock featured ruching down the short sleeves, sheer netting along the shoulders and at the waist and a thigh-high slit up the front. She finished things off with black peep-toe slides. Chris Tomlin and Lauren Bricken coordinated in black and blue. The singer donned a black suit by Todd Snyder, a blue shirt by Eton and dress shoes from Paul Smith, while his lovely wife sported a sparkly long-sleeved floor-length gown.
