1. Seth Meyers' Italian greyhound is Insta-famous

Seth Meyers takes his late-night career very seriously, but he's a complete softy when it comes to his adorable dog, Frisbee. He even has an entire Instragram account dedicated to the pooch. "Six years old, 7 lbs, loves to play with crocs, GIRL, Italian greyhound," Frisbee's social media bio reads. The pup has amassed a whopping 13.7K Instagram followers, giving her the perfect platform to show off selfies with Seth's son, Ashe, and her slew of championship dog show ribbons for Best in Toy Dogs.

2. Amy Poehler originally beat out Seth Meyers for the "Weekend Update" anchor gig

Seth Meyers and Amy Poehler had a great run anchoring the "Weekend Update" segment together on "Saturday Night Live," but did you know that she initially beat him out for the coveted spot? Seth joined the cast of "SNL" way back in 2001 and decided to take a shot at the co-anchor gig when Jimmy Fallon stepped down in 2004, but Amy was given a seat at the news desk instead! Seth ended up finally scoring the job when Amy's co-anchor, Tina Fey, left the show in 2006. Still, there wasn't ever any bad blood between the comedians. Seth even brought Amy on as his very first guest when he scored his own show, "Late Night with Seth Meyers," on NBC.

3. Seth Meyers mentored "Saturday Night Live" co-star Andy Samberg

Seth Meyers is a total team player! When Andy Samberg joined the cast of "Saturday Night Live" in 2005, Seth not only welcomed him with open arms but also took him under his wing. "Seth went out of his way to look out for me," Andy told The Hollywood Reporter of his "big brother." Seth took the time to offer Andy help at work, brought him out to parties and showed him the red carpet ropes. Their friendship grew so strong that Andy even asked Seth to be a groomsman at his 2013 wedding.

4. Seth Meyers met his wife at Chris Kattan's wedding

Seth Meyers randomly met his wife, Alexi Ashe, at his "Saturday Night Live" co-star Chris Kattan's wedding back in 2008. She was at the bash with her sister, who knew the groom from doing set design work on "SNL" in the past. Seth has claimed that it was basically love at first sight. "I had a sense that she was the closest I'd ever met to someone who I could see myself with," he gushed to YourTango.com, "pretty much right away." Seth and Alexi, a human rights lawyer, tied the knot in 2013.

5. Seth Meyers can put together a crib all by himself

Seth Meyers is a man of many talents — comedian, host, writer — but we were kind of surprised to find out that he's also a crib-builder extraordinaire. And it's a pretty good skill to have seeing as though he and his wife, Alexi Ashe, are currently expecting their second child. Before his first kid, son Ashe, was born in March 2016, the rockstar dad put together a crib from mere pieces in a box all by himself. He documented the furniture triumph on social media, calling the finished product "my proudest accomplishment." Who would've thought that the guy who sits behind a news desk could probably build one too?

6. Seth Meyers spent a year in Amsterdam doing stand-up

Before getting his big break on "Saturday Night Live," Seth Meyers got his start in comedy by doing improv and stand-up wherever he could. After graduating from Northwestern University in Illinois, he booked it all the way to Amsterdam to join the Boom Chicago comedy troupe. He and his brother, Josh Meyers, spent a year overseas performing with the improv group before heading back to America.

7. Seth Meyers' brother Josh Meyers is on TV too

Speaking of Seth Meyers' brother… Josh Meyers is in the entertainment business too! And just like Seth, Josh also got his big break on a sketch comedy show, except it wasn't "Saturday Night Live." Instead, Josh brought the laughs on "MadTV" back in 2002. You might also recognize him from "That '70s Show" — he took over the lead role for the last season in Topher Grace's absence. More recently, he's had cameos on hits like "The Mindy Project" and starred on the Amazon series "Red Oaks."

8. Seth Meyers forged a groundbreaking late-night monologue path

Seth Meyers wasn't afraid to do his own thing when he took over for Jimmy Fallon on NBC's "Late Night" in 2014. Years of hosts before him had always done their opening monologues standing up in front of the audience, but Seth broke the mold about a year into the gig when he opted to sit down. "I've always, obviously, been comfortable behind a desk," the former "Weekend Update" anchor told The New York Times. Seth continued to do his seated stand-up monologue at his desk — often referred to as a deskologue — and never looked back. "That ship has sailed," he told USA Today of the standing monologue, "maybe once a year, as a treat, I'll tweet out a photo of my legs, so they can relive the glory days."

9. Seth Meyers is obsessed with sports, poker, comics and "Game of Thrones"

When Seth Meyers isn't hard at work coming up with laugh-out-loud jokes, he has a pretty long list of hobbies and interests and that might surprise you. For one thing, he takes sports very seriously as a dedicated fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Boston Red Sox and Northwestern Wildcats. His son, Ashe, has enough team onesies for practically every game! He's also an avid poker player, having won $100,000 for charity on "Celebrity Poker Showdown" in 2009, and is obsessed with comics. On top of that, Seth is particularly fond of HBO's hit series "Game of Thrones" — he's pictured here taking a selfie with the cast — and has read all of the books. Eclectic list of interests, right?

10. Seth Meyers is actually an award-show hosting veteran

Seth Meyers is hosting the 2018 Golden Globe Awards but this is far from his first rodeo! Did you know that Seth actually has a ton of experience hosting big shows? He hosted the ESPY Awards twice (in 2010 and 2011) before emceeing the Emmys in 2014 (pictured). He's also hosted the NFL Honors and the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner. What a resume! Plus Seth was a writer for the Golden Globes from 2013 to 2015, so we really have no doubt he'll slay the show's opening monologue. "At its core, it's the most fun, the loosest of the awards shows," he told USA Today. With Seth's improv history and dry political humor, we can't wait to see what he has in store.
