What's buzzing at the 2017 Grammys

Find out what had everyone talking at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards! From fashion statements and jaw-dropping performances to must-hear speeches, trending topics and, of course, the most notable winners and losers, here are the highlights from music's biggest night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Feb. 12, 2017… Say "Hello" to the 2017 Grammys goddess, Adele. The singer took home the final two awards of the night, Record of the Year (for "Hello") and Album of the Year (for "25") and, it seems, a new husband. Adele was gracious and emotional and did all the right things in her speeches as she thanked her team, her family and her fans. Both times, she also turned her attention to Beyonce, whom she beat in both categories. "My dream and my idol is Queen B and I adore you. You move my soul every single day and you have done for nearly 17 years," Adele said during her Record of the Year speech as Beyonce clutched her chest. "I adore you and I want you to be my mummy, alright?" Beyonce was seen shedding tears as Adele dedicated her Album of the Year honor to the "Lemonade" artist. But at the end of Adele's speech for the night's biggest award, she dropped a bombshell when she referred to her longtime love Simon Konecki — who's the father of her 4-year-old son, Angelo — as her "husband," giving credence to reports speculating that they'd secretly married.

Slay all day

The Queen and her +2 have arrived! Beyonce, who had everyone fangirling before she even got there, stopped the Grammys dead in their tracks when she took the stage an hour into the telecast. Beyonce's growing baby bump was front and center as she delivered some spoken word. At one point during her performance — a medley of "Sandcastles" and "Love Drought" — she sat in a mechanical wooden chair that began to fall backwards (don't worry, it was all a part of the theatrics — the twins are safe!). Then, clad in a gold dress and a Virgin Mary-esque crown, Bey delivered a six-minute performance featuring dancers, fresh flowers and lots and lots of belly-cradling. At the end, the enthralled audience was standing, husband Jay Z was beaming, daughter Blue Ivy Carter was clapping and the world was sighing. Beyonce. Does. It. Again. (As if there was every any doubt!)

Diva moment

Take two! During a beautiful and emotional tribute to the late George Michael, Adele honored the pop star by singing a new arrangement of his song "Fastlove." However, Adele stopped the song after one verse… on live TV! "I know it's live TV, I'm sorry," she said, halting her performance amid what sounded like technical difficulties. She apologetically continued, "I can't do it again like last year. I'm sorry for swearing and I'm sorry for starting again. Can we please start it again? I'm sorry, I can't mess this up. I'm sorry Ken," she said, aiming that last comment at Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich. But the audience clapped and cheered loudly as Adele apologized, making it clear they didn't mind one bit. She started it again, sang it in full and it was beyond moving. The crowd gave her a standing ovation. As the camera shot back to Adele, she fought back tears.

A worthy tribute

Tonight, the Grammys partied like it was 1999. While rocking a glittering purple outfit that would make Prince smile, Bruno Mars honored "The Symbol" in perfect fashion, slaying on a guitar and belting out "Let's Go Crazy" in honor of the legend. The crowd stood, danced, sang along and couldn't get enough. Bruno was the perfect artist to even attempt to tackle the late, great Prince.

Little Prince-ess

And we have our first Prince tribute of the night, brought to you by none other than Blue Ivy Carter. Beyonce and Jay Z's daughter's rocked a pink Gucci suit with a ruffled shirt at the Grammys, making her a dead ringer for the late Prince, who famously sported the same look, as she sat on her dad's lap. Twitter, naturally, was obsessed when Blue went purple.

The most star-studded Carpool Karaoke of all time went down on the 2017 Grammys telecast! James Corden brought his signature late-night bit to the show, and it was everything! Everything! While walking around inside a cutout of a car, James approached Jennifer Lopez to sing with him, positioning the car so that she appeared to be in the passenger seat. James then recruited Ryan Tedder to get into the "car." Then came John Legend, Jason Derulo, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Neil Diamond. Then came the most epic singalong ever! The superstars all ripped into Neil's classic, "Sweet Caroline," and the Grammys crowd sang along. The best part: At the very end of the ditty, little Blue Ivy Carter came running over to be a part of it. She didn't sing, but she continued to steal the show.

Stripped down

It's a no-pants party! After Twenty One Pilots won the Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their hit "Stressed Out," they got out of their seats and dropped trou! Yes, they walked up to the stage and accepted their award without pants on. Why? Tyler Joseph said that he and bandmate Josh Dun watched the Grammys years ago together with friends on TV. "As we were watching, I looked around and every single one of us was in our underwear," he noted. They duo made a vow that if they ever won a Grammy, they would accept it in their underwear. Way to actually go for it, guys. Coming out of the commercial break, James Corden also rocked no pants to get a laugh. Something tells us the FCC found little humor in it.

A fresh start

Late-night host James Corden took over Grammy hosting duties from LL Cool J this year and went the humor route to open the show, as you would expect — and he also went with a little rap freestyle. Actually, a lot of freestyle. James (after an opening bit in which he fell down the Grammys stairs) rapped his way through the monologue, naming people and joking about Rihanna and Drake and how he has to Google who Sturgill Simpson is (go ahead, we'll wait). It was rather impressive and quite the break from a typical monologue.

Bittersweet tribute

He's a man of his word. Before Joey Feek tragically died at age 40 in March 2016 following a long battle with cervical cancer, her husband, Rory Feek, promised her that he would attend the Grammys if their duo, Joey + Rory, were nominated for an award this year — which they were, for Best Roots Gospel Album. He made good on that promise on Feb. 12 and took some hardware in the process, winning for their album "Hymns That Are Important To Us." "Now I am even more thankful that I am going because she did want me to go," Rory said, reports the Associated Press.

Seeing double

Country stars Carrie Underwood and Faith Hill were twinning on the 2017 Grammys red carpet — and not in a good way. Not long after Carrie arrived wearing a bright red beaded floor-length gown with long sleeves and a keyhole cutout on the bodice by Lebanese designer Eli Madi, Faith arrived clad in a dress by another Lebanese designer, Zuhair Murad, that happened to be the same shade and silhouette and featured — you guessed it — the very same keyhole cutout.

Mutual respect

Just after Adele won Song of the Year for "Hello," she kissed boyfriend Simon Konecki then looked over toward Beyonce (whom she'd just beat for the Grammy prize) and mouthed the words "I love you" — twice. Was she directing her message to the "Lemonade" singer? All indications are she was. Meanwhile, Beyonce seemed genuinely pleased for her rival, for whom she clapped enthusiastically before standing up to cheer as Adele took to the podium. The Grammys were billed by many as Adele vs. Bey, but it seems like there is nothing but love between these two.

Nailed it

Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is what redemption looks like! One year after Adele had a less-than-stellar Grammys experience thanks to a performance rife with technical issues, she came through in a big, big way! The British star opened the Grammys telecast with her hit "Hello" and gave the audience chills. "Hello, baby," she said at the end. Welcome to the Grammys, people, and welcome back, Adele!

Conspiracy theory

The conspiracy theorists are out at the Grammys! When Adele walked the red carpet before the telecast, she was wearing a money-colored dress — and an interesting and perhaps telling brooch: a crystal-embellished pin shaped like a lemon. Beyonce's up for Album of the Year against Adele, and Bey's album is called "Lemonade." So is Adele subtly rooting for Queen Bey, or is the accessory just an accessory?

Heavy mettle

The Metallica/Lady Gaga collaboration looked as fiery as promised. Whether it sounded that way though, we'll never know. While Gaga delivered her end of the duet, James Hetfield's microphone malfunctioned and his voice couldn't be heard for about half of the song. The kinks were eventually worked out, though this heavy-metal collaboration was, in truth, all about the theatrics. Gaga danced seductively, screamed, head-banged and crowd-surfed. If there's a band that can just roll through a malfunction, it's Metallica.

Non-committal

Jennifer Lopez did nothing to deny rumors that things with Drake have cooled off. She also did nothing to confirm that they are together, as has been reported. Speaking to E! News on the Grammys red carpet, J.Lo praised Drake, but only, it seems, in a professional sense. "I love Drake. He's so brilliant, talented, amazing," she said. "We made a song together, hung out. We have a great time. I have so much love for that boy." Either they aren't together, or J.Lo isn't the kiss-and-tell type.

Extra accessory

Several stars were sporting a little extra bling at this year's Grammys — nose rings. A newly blonde Katy Perry, Michael Jackson's daughter Paris Jackson, singer Elle King and Best New Artist nominee Maren Morris all rocked the jewelry trend.

Absence explained

Don't worry Grammy winners, you are guaranteed to not be interrupted by Kanye West. He is not attending the telecast, despite being up for eight awards. Earlier in the week, multiple reports claimed the rapper was boycotting the Grammys this year, but his mother-in-law says that's not so. "He's got a big fashion show in New York because it's New York Fashion Week, and my entire family is back there," Kris Jenner — who co-hosted the "E! Countdown to the Red Carpet" Grammys pre-show explained. "He wishes he could be here." All this in a year that Taylor Swift isn't even up for an award…

Read 'em and squint

John Travolta went straight old-school at the Grammys. As he introduced Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood's pop-country ditty "The Fighter," he took off his sunglasses and realized he couldn't read the teleprompter, squinting as he tried to make out the words. "My phone, when you look at the font, everyone laughs at me," he explained to the audience, noting that his font size is huge. "I can't read that prompter." He improvised for a minute, pulled out cue cards from his pocket and read from those (and yes, he did pronounce Keith and Carrie's names correctly). Old school.

Head-scratcher

What was that? During an interview with E! before the Grammys, "I Took a Pill in Ibiza" singer Mike Posner went full mime… Oh, and he had lime green hair, because why not. While, uh, "chatting" on E!'s red carpet preshow, Mike didn't speak to host Giuliana Rancic. Instead, he would whisper into sometime collaborator blackbear's ear, and blackbear would then act as his mouthpiece. Mike even tried to flirt with Giuliana (via his fellow green-haired pal), saying he "wishes she wasn't married." As one Twitter user wrote, "Mike Posner took a pill before the red carpet…I am worried about him!!!!"

Divorce drama

Mary J. Blige is opening up about the personal struggles in her life, mainly her ongoing contentious divorce from husband and onetime manager Martin "Kendu" Isaacs. It's fair to say that this is not a fun time for her. During her appearance at Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy party on Feb. 11, she took the stage and got emotional. "Right now in my life, I need strength like yours, because I may look happy, but I'm going through some horrible stuff right now. It's called divorce," she told the audience. Mary then went into her latest single, "Thick of It." "This song," she said, "is exactly where I'm at."
