News that Ariana Grande and her fiance, Pete Davidson had called it quits less than six months after their romance began came as a surprise, particularly since Ariana was on hand to support Pete over the weekend at "Saturday Night Live," where they looked smitten as ever. But the kisses and hugs they shared that night were actually evidence of "a couple holding on for dear life and desperately trying to make their relationship work," according to TMZ's sources. The website claims the two had tried to make amends for some time before deciding it just wasn't going to work between them — at least, not now. Ariana and Pete began dating shortly after she split from Mac Miller. Mac's subsequent death from a drug overdose reportedly became "the tipping point that forced Ariana and Pete's romance to come to an end so the singer could work through her emotions about Mac. People, meanwhile, has reported the breakneck speed at which Ariana and Pete fell in love and got engaged was simply "way too much too soon."

Look out, Kylie Jenner — your father could be cutting in on your business. The Blast reports Caitlyn Jenner recently registered trademarks for the names "Skincare by Caitlyn Jenner," "Jenner Skincare" and "Caitlyn Jenner Skincare." According to the documents she filed, Caitlyn plans to use the monikers for "non-medicated skin care preparations" including moisturizers, lotions, masks, peels, balms and cosmetics. The filings come less than a month after Kylie — whose Kylie Cosmetics brand has been wildly successful since it first launched — registered a trademark for "Kylie Skin" to use with products similar to those her dad wants to sell. Caitlyn's already driven a wedge between her and her family by detailing certain aspects of the Kardashian-Jenner clan's lives in her memoir, among other things. Launching a line of beauty products that would be in a position to compete with Kylie's seems likely to make those already rocky relations even more complicated.

Bethenny Frankel's ex accused of exploiting Dennis Shields' death as custody battle continues

Jason Hoppy's latest move to get custody of the daughter he shares with Bethenny Frankel seems to have backfired. A lawyer for Bethenny's ex recently asked a judge to order drug testing for the "Real Housewives of New York" star, citing the drug-related death of her on-off boyfriend, Dennis Shields, plus instances where she slurred her words in an Instagram video and mixed Ambien and alcohol in a scene from her Bravo show as evidence she could be abusing substances in a way that might harm the couple's daughter, Bryn. The judge wasn't having it. "There was a tragedy which I think you're trying to exploit," he said, according to Page Six. The judge also thought it was a little odd that Jason suddenly asked Bethenny to be drug tested immediately after she was granted a custody trial for Bryn. Bethenny is asking for full custody of the 8-year-old in the wake of Jason's stalking charge.

They're one of Hollywood's longest-lasting couples, but at one point in their lives, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith's marriage was in bad shape. "There was a period where mommy woke up and cried 45 days straight. I started keeping track," Will tells the couple's daughter, Willow Smith, and Jada's mom, Adrienne Banfield-Jones, in a preview clip from Jada's "Red Table Talk" on Facebook. Jada makes a crack about her husband having missed a day in his counting. "Every morning," Will continues. "I think that's the worst I've ever felt in our marriage. I was failing miserably." Will and Jada have been hit with split rumors on an almost regular basis over the course of their 20-year marriage. Though they tend not to comment on tabloid reports claiming they're done, the two have been more vocal than usual this year. In addition to their candid conversation on Jada's show, Will included a "stop the divorce rumors" plea in his 2018 track, "To the Clique." According to People, "Red Table Talk" returns to the web on Oct. 22, with guests including Ellen Pompeo and Leah Remini. Subjects up for discussion range in the new episodes range from divorce to forgiveness to race relations to domestic violence.

Kanye West's TimesTalk on mental health canceled

Er … bad timing? It seems Charlamagne Tha God had invited Kanye West to participate in a TimesTalk event focused on mental health issues in New York City this week. On Monday, Charlamagne announced the talk would not be happening, given renewed concerns about 'Ye's own mental stability these days. In a post on Instagram (via Variety), Charlamagne referred implicitly to Kanye's recent rants on "Saturday Night Live," at the White House and on a table top at an Apple store when he told followers the talk was a no-go. "Normalizing being mentally healthy is a conversation that I really wanted to have with Kanye because he's been so vocal about his own mental health struggles," Charlamagne wrote. "Unfortunately I think to have that conversation with him right now would not be productive and a total distraction from the point of the convo which is to eradicate the stigma of mental health especially in the black community.- ME." Kanye suffers from bipolar disorder and has admitted to going off his meds. The talk was supposed to have been pegged to Charlamagne's new book, "Shook One: Anxiety Playing Tricks on Me," with the rappers sharing ideas about how to overcome fear and anxiety. Kind of a tough sell if the mere presence of one speaker is giving the other speaker anxiety …

Roger Daltry recalls meeting three children he never knew he'd fathered

Talk about a birthday surprise … When The Who's Roger Daltry turned 50, he received a photo of a girl who turned out to be a daughter he didn't know he had. As he recounts in his new autobiography, "Thanks a lot, Mr. Kibblewhite," the girl was actually one of three daughters the rocker had fathered in the '60s. "They all came into my life after my 50th birthday.It was great – it's all worked out. They stay in touch and they're close, so that's great," writes the 74-year-old rocker, according to The Mirror. Daughters No. 2 and 3 surfaced after the women, who had been adopted after birth, discovered who their dad was via adoption papers. Despite being happy to have gotten in touch with his "surprise kids" and compelled to make them a part of his family, Roger, who has eight children in total, writes that he also felt sad to learn the three daughters had been put up for adoption. "I've tried to do my best about a situation that couldn't change because it happened a long time ago," he explains. The book also goes into detail about Roger's experience being the only person in The Who who didn't use hard drugs. Seen as an "enemy" by his bandmates, Roger says they actually booted him from the group at one point in 1965 because he'd flushed a "great big bag of" Keith Moon's pills down the toilet. Keith later overdosed on prescription medication and died; the band's bassist, John Entwhistle died decades later after overdosing on cocaine. "Rock n' Roll had become all about taking as many drugs as possible until you died. And I was spoiling that," Roger writes. "From their point of view it was an intrusion on how they wanted to live their lives." Roger and Pete Townshend continue to perform as The Who.

That's according to Natalie Portman, who shared some pointers on how the world can be more proactive when it comes to equal and fair treatment in the workplace. "Stop the rhetoric that a woman is crazy or difficult," the actress said last week at the Variety Power of Women summit, according to People. "If a man says to you that a woman is crazy or difficult, ask him, 'What bad thing did you do to her?' … That's a code word. He's trying to discredit her reputation. Make efforts to hire people who've had their reputations smeared in retaliation," she explained. Natalie went on to urge members of the audience to fight for greater diversity in their daily lives, telling the crowd: "If any group you're in has only people who look like you, change that group. It's an awakening experience to hear from women who have different experiences of marginalization … Be embarrassed if everyone in your workplace looks like you. Pay attention to physical ability, age, race, sexual orientation, gender identity." Finally, the star asked those listening to do whatever they could to ensure there are "consequences for those who abuse their power," and to put a stop to the trend of using violence against women as entertainment fodder. "Do not harm women this year," she offered at the end of her speech. "Let's see how that goes."

Chance the Rapper goes undercover as a Lyft driver to promote his Chicago education fund

Chicago lover and good samaritan Chance the Rapper is at it again. After raising more than $4.2 million for public schools in the Windy City, Chance popped up in a new edition of "Undercover Lyft" with the goal of getting more folks involved in his cause. In the clip, Chance plays Lyft driver, using the opportunity to speak with surprised passengers about the importance of public school education and how they can help by making donations to his SocialWorks' New Chance Fund via the Round Up & Donate program sponsored by Lyft. As People reminds us, the New Chance Arts and Literature fund gives Chicago school kids access to improved arts education. "Together, Lyft and I have been giving back with Round Up & Donate for SocialWorks' New Chance Fund," Chance says. "Now, we're having some fun in my hometown, Chicago, as I go undercover as a Lyft driver. I hope this video encourages even more folks to give back just by taking a Lyft."
