Stephen Belafonte wants visitation rights with Mel B and Eddie Murphy's daughter
In the wake of allegations Stephen Belafonte abused Mel B for years before she filed for divorce, the singer and television personality requested sole custody of their 5-year-old daughter, Madison, in opposition to her ex's demand for joint custody. Now, Stephen's also asking to maintain a presence in the life of Mel's daughter, Angel, who's father is Eddie Murphy. According to TMZ, Stephen claims that since he and Mel B married two months after Angel was born, he has been a father figure to her most of her life. Although a stepfather or mother is allowed to ask for "reasonable visitation" of a stepchild following a divorce in California, Stephen will reportedly have to wait until after his divorce response to pursue custody. Mel is expected to fight both requests.

Duchess Kate's wardrobe spending increases for the second year in a row
In her first few years as the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton developed a reputation for keeping her outfits budget-friendly. These days? Not so much. The blog What Would Kate Do (via the Daily Mail) estimates Kate's already spent $71,585 on clothing and accessories in 2017, putting her on track to spend more this year on her wardrobe than she has in any year since she married Prince William and became part of the royal family. In 2016, the website notes, Kate spent four times as much as she had in 2015 on her outfits. Among the pieces she's gone for this year have been a cobalt blue dress from the London-based label Eponine that retails for more than $2,000, the $4,800 earrings she added to an otherwise athletic look for a marathon training relay and the $7,800 bespoke Alexander McQueen gown she wore to the BAFTAs.

Zoe Saldana under fire for 'color-blind' remark
Zoe Saldana delved into potentially prickly territory this week when she told the Daily Telegraph her sci-fi roles have given her a color and gender-blind perspective on her art. "I get to imagine the unimaginable," she said, according to the Root. "I'm always in awe of writers, directors and actors who are able to pull off a world we've never seen—I love working with people who let their imaginations go. Plus, you get to play characters who defy gravity. I like that. It makes me feel superhuman because, obviously, it's been brought to my attention continuously since I was born that I'm not a conventional person because of the color of my skin or my gender or my cultural background. So I think science fiction has given me the ability as an artist to be colorblind, and gender-blind, and to imagine and reinvent myself and be the chameleon actors are supposed to be." Twitter users wasted little time jumping on the comment for missing the mark, particularly in light of the controversy surrounding her recent performance as Nina Simone. "Zoe Saldana says sci-fi movies made her 'color blind'…is that why she thought she could play Nina Simone?!? Sci-fi made her do it?" asked one angry social media user (via BET). Others pointed out that even if Zoe doesn't see skin color, her industry definitely does. "Oh, so 'color blind' a thing in Hollywood now?" read another tweet. "That explains why Zoe Saldana was offered the role of Wonder Woman! Oh, wait…"
