Carrie Underwood delivers clap-back gold after her NFL song gets dissed
Did Carrie Underwood just issue the most positive clap-back ever? The singer, who recorded the new Sunday Night Football song, "Game On," noticed a tweet from Sports Illustrated showrunner Jessica Smetana in which she riffed on a post about sports commentator Chris Collinsworth's habit of "sliding in from the right" to introduce himself on broadcasts. After SNF on NBC posted a highlight reel of Chris' now infamous slides, Jessica seized on the moment to take aim at Carrie's football theme song. "I love that NBC has been reading everyone's Collinsworth slide tweets because it means they've also been reading all the tweets about how much we hate the new Carrie Underwood song," she wrote (via E! News). Carrie's response? "Hey, I know my music isn't for everyone, but I love what I do and I love being a part of @SNFonNBC! I am one lucky lady! I also love women who build other women up…just saying…" Ahem. In a second tweet, the expectant singer added: "Today, let's be positive. Let's be NICE to each other. Let's do something nice FOR someone else. Smile at a stranger. It's the start of a new week! Today is precious! Don't waste it! Sending love and cheer to you all!!! #LoveWins." Feeling appropriately awkward, Jessica replied: "Omg wait no I love you I just miss the old song!!" At least one Carrie fan wasn't having it and called out her behavior again, prompting Jessica to add: "Not liking a song doesn't mean I don't like her or her music. And [it] doesn't mean I don't build up other women either."

Director Brad Furman dropped from Johnny Depp assault and battery lawsuit
Johnny Depp and his production company are on their own as defendants in an assault and battery suit filed against the star by a location manager for the upcoming film, "City of Lies." The crew member, Gregg "Rocky" Brooks, has dropped director Brad Furman from the case, according to The Blast. He's still pursuing legal action against Johnny, who he claims punched him twice in the ribs after a permit issue meant filming had to stop on one scene before Johnny was apparently ready to call it a day. In the suit, Brooks says he managed to extend the permit's hours "multiple times" so Johnny could shoot a longer version of the scene, but when it came time to stop production because of the permitting restrictions, Johnny, who Brooks says smelled as if he'd been drinking, came after him hollering, "Who the f— are you? You have no right to tell me what to do!" Brooks says his explanation to Johnny about why they had to stop fell on deaf ears and that he then assaulted him and yelled, "I will give you $100,000 to punch me in the face right now!" Brooks later refused to sign a release about the dustup and was fired. In his response, Johnny said he acted in self-defense and is not culpable. Rather, he says that since Brooks didn't follow instructions on set, the case should be dismissed.
Roger Mathews slams Snooki for defending Jenni "JWoww" Farley
As the drama between Jenni "JWoww" Farley and her ex, Roger Mathews continues, Roger's now taking aim at Jenni's friend, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, for defending Jenni on social media. Over the weekend, an Instagram commenter weighed in about the video Snooki posted about the argument between Jenni and Roger that resulted in Jenni being issued a temporary restraining order against him. The video showed Jenni telling police she wanted to make sure her kids would still be allowed to see their father in spite of her having called the authorities out of concern for her safety. In Snooki's post, she pointed out how much Jenni had "been through" recently and sided with her in the argument. "Nicole has never spent a single night in our home in 8 years," Roger posted on Saturday, Dec. 15 (via Us Weekly). "You will see the truth come out in the end. Nicole has many Skelton's in her closet. Many. I have none in mine and will own every aspect of my life. Good and bad. She should stay out of matters that do not concern her." Roger previously posted that Jenni was being overly "emotional" when she got the restraining order. A source tells Us Jenni actually "went through extreme measures Friday to have someone get in front of a judge to make sure Roger could see the kids," adding that he has seen his son since then. The former couple's daughter, however, has been ill, sparking the judge to decide she should stay at home with her mother while she recovers. "Meilani has flu type A. Kids die from type A. She's not allowed to leave the house and the judge told Roger that Meilani has to be with her mother. Roger is not with his daughter because she's sick as a dog, not because Jenni is keeping Roger from Meilani," the source said. Jenni filed for divorce from Roger in September.

Is Gayle King planning to leave 'CBS This Morning'?
When she was asked by a guest on "CBS This Morning" how she was doing last week, Gayle King said, "not good." At the time, the New York Post reported the comment was likely a reference to news the show's producer, Ryan Kadro, was in talks to leave. Now, the Post's sources say Ryan's departure will only add to the chaos that's been afoot at "CBS This Morning" since Charlie Rose and Les Moonves left the network amid multiple sexual harassment and assault allegations. "Gayle is furious," says one insider who thinks the host may leave altogether. "She very much has had to hold everything together on the show. But she's particularly upset that Ryan is leaving — and that he was mistakenly linked with the CBS payoffs. It remains to be seen what she'll do, and what her future is at CBS." Gayle reportedly has just one year left in her contract with the network, according to the Post, and CBS execs are rumored to be considering a total overhaul of the show. Although the official word from CBS is that nothing is changing, the Post reports "insiders are hopeful" that "female staffers will benefit" when the results of the investigation into claims against those accused of misconduct are made public. Neither Gayle's rep nor a spokesperson for CBS would comment.
Andy Cohen says he and Anderson Cooper are 'Eskimo brothers'
Turns out Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen have more in common than we realized — er, make that, more in common than Anderson realized. Anderson stopped by the Sunday, Dec. 16, edition of "Watch What Happens Live" and promptly found himself turning red thanks to a revelation Andy made when guest Cynthia Bailey asked, "What's the one thing people don't know about the two of you?" Andy smiled and said, "That we're Eskimo brothers." Anderson laughed but looked confused, according to ET, as Cynthia demanded to know what the term meant. "You've got to look it up on Urban Dictionary. I can't even say it on this show," Andy said. Urban Dictionary defines the phrase as a reference to when two people have hooked up with the same person. "I don't know even know if that's true," said an aghast Anderson. "It's true. It's true," Andy replied. "We just found this out a few weeks ago." Cynthia's attempt to ask more questions in the game they were playing was temporarily interrupted by how uncomfortable Anderson looked. "Look at that, he's really blushing!" she hollered. Poor Anderson couldn't deny he was turning red. "I'm like, 'Why did I agree to be on this show?'" he joked. Alas, neither "brother" revealed the identity of the shared hook-up partner …

In an excerpt from the Facebook Watch series published on People this week, Jada recalls how she had a crisis of confidence when she discovered she needed more than what she was getting from her career to be truly happy. "I had gotten to L.A. and gotten a certain amount of success and realized that that wasn't the answer. It wasn't what was going to make everything OK," she explains. "[It] actually made this worse. I was extremely suicidal, I had a complete emotional collapse." She goes on to reveal it took time for her to see just how dark things had gotten inside of her. "It's like when you just don't have control over emotions, your thoughts, you feel completely and utterly out of control. I don't even think at that particular time I understood what I was going through," she says in the clip. Over the weekend, Jada was among the multiple celebs who reached out to Pete Davidson after he posted a message on Instagram saying he no longer wanted to "be on this earth." "Pete Davidson … hang in there. There is a lot of help out here," Jada wrote on Twitter. "Surrender to some love some where around you … today! Right now! And then … let in the help that will become available. I'm praying for you Pete. I've been there. It gets better."
