Celine Dion answers a question about her love life by singing Rihanna
Celine Dion's handbag collection launch in Montreal on Wednesday, Aug. 23, turned into a candid, music-heavy opportunity for the singer to share how she's doing, what she's focusing on in the wake of her husband Renee Angelil's death — and whether she's dating yet. "I'm enjoying myself," she said at one point. "I … went through a lot." Implying she didn't want to "give details" about the deaths of Renee and her brother within a span of days, she went on to say, "I think sometimes when you go through a lot … there is a force that takes over when you believe." She continued: "I have projects, I have visions, I have focus, I want to create and I think at this time of my life … it feels that I can spread my wings." By the end of her response, she was singing "The Best is Yet to Come." And as E! News reports, the best really was yet to come. When someone asked about her dating life later, Celine struck pose, arms in the air. She was quiet for a moment. And then she sang a vow to "shine bright like a diamond," from Rihanna's "Diamonds" … as one does at a handbag collection launch when one is Celine Dion.

Henry Cavill shares moving tribute to his girlfriend Lucy Cork
There are love letters and then there are love letters. Henry Cavill's recent Instagram ode to his stunt woman girlfriend Lucy Cork is more than a gushy bunch of sentiments about how beautiful she is or how good she makes him feel. It's an invitation to be inspired by what he sees in her, which more than anything seems to be an admirable sense of self. "What we've experienced is important, it defines us. But what is more important, and often forgotten, is that we decide how it defines us," he writes nearly a paragraph in. "… I've made mistakes, I've been someone I'm not proud of plenty of times. I've fallen down. I've loved the wrong person. I've failed. I've been hurt. I've hurt. That's life!" he continues. "What I've tried to do and still try to do each time though is recognize those mistakes and mould them to my advantage. Make them a way to better myself." Instead of letting a bad experience define who you are, he tells his readers, "run with it." He continues: "Take the sum of your past and make it your tool to approach the future with. Move forward and love the experiences you have, use them to define you and make you the best version of yourself that is humanely possible. Your life is yours and will be whatever you want it to be. Love, grow, pursue, strive, challenge yourself. e afraid so that you can be brave." Near the end, he says the video of Lucy boxing in the post "is what positive forward motion, determination, bravery, strong will, dedication and self respect looks like." He adds: "This is my Lucy. She is one of the best stunt women in the world. She has defined herself. She continues to define herself. She grows, everyday. She is Lucy Cork because she says so." How much better than roses is that?

Kourtney Kardashian and her new boyfriend may have bumped into Justin Bieber at Hillsong church
Justin Bieber and Kourtney Kardashian shared multiple rounds of romance rumors in 2015 and 2016 when the 23-year-old singer was said to have "bragged" to his friends about allegedly "hooking up with" the 38-year-old reality star. Although neither of them confirmed anything, Justin posted at least one seeming dig at Kourtney's (then recent) ex Scott Disick on social media. This week, however, the two may have moved past any potential discomfort by focusing on God. The Daily Mail reports both Justin and Kourtney were seen attending a service at the same church in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Aug. 23. Kourtney arrived with her rumored beau Younes Bendjima by her side, while Justin, who has been said to be getting close to Hillsong pastor Carl Lentz, appeared to have rolled solo to the event.

Bobby Zarin hits four parties in two days as his recovery continues
A month ago, Jill Zarin and her friends were relegated to catching up with her husband Bobby Zarin in the hospital as he continued to fight cancer. Now that he's been released, he's finally able to get into the spirit of the season the right way. "What a turnaround!" Jill posted on Instagram this week. "Bobby and I came out to the hamptons and took him to 4 parties in 2 days! He is tired but that's it so far for side effects. Not as hungry but more for me ! Lol. Attended chris Burch's summer white party with houseguest. Hope he had fun!" On Aug. 6, Jill thanked a friend on social media for treating her husband "to his first real meal in 5 weeks." She added she was grateful to everyone who had come to visit him or sent gifts for Bobby while he was hospitalized. "My heart is filled with such emotion everyday it's hard to express," she wrote. "From the initial shock to the new 'normal' it's been the most emotional time in our lives and couldn't have gotten to where we are without help from many. I wake up everyday now so grateful to see Bobby getting stronger."
Amy Schumer clarifies Netflix pay gap story
Just because Amy Schumer asked Netflix for more money doesn't mean she "demanded" equal pay to whatever Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle made on their Netflix specials. So said Amy in an Instagram post after Variety published a story in which a source said "she received significantly more compensation after she raised the question of fairness relative to the Rock and Chappelle deals." The way Amy tells it, she's not on the same level as Chris and Dave yet and merely asked for more money — not the same money — as what they earned. "Hot dog dog," she wrote. "Thanks for chiming in on what you feel I deserve to be paid. I believe women deserve equal pay. However I don't believe I deserve equal pay to Chris and Dave. They are legends and 2 of the greatest comics of all time. I would like to say that I have been selling out arenas these last couple years. Something a female comic has never done. That's a big deal to me, especially because I know I do my best every night on stage for the audience and they have a good time. I didn't ask for the same as my friends. I did ask for more than the initial offer. I will continue to work my a– off and be the best performer I can be. The reports of me 'demanding' or 'insisting' on equal pay to them aren't a true [sic]."
Naomi Campbell slams British Vogue for previous editor's homogeneous editorial staff
A sea of white faces appeared in the "goodbye" photo the editorial staff of British Vogue published as part of former editor-in-chief Alexandra Shulman's final issue. It's hard to miss the fact that literally every person included in the picture is white — a situation new contributing editor Naomi Campbell hopes will change under the direction of Ghana-born, London-bred editor and stylist Edward Enninful. "This is the staff photo … under the previous editor," Naomi captioned a post of the photo on social media this week. "Looking forward to an inclusive and diverse staff now that @edward_enninful is the editor 🌍🇬🇧👩🏼👱♀️👩🏽👩🏾👵🏿let's hear your thoughts ?" Users wasted no time sharing those thoughts, most of which were along the lines of "yikes." "This is for sure something which needs to change," wrote one poster, "and I hope it does as it's so important to have diversity in all careers if we want to progress as a society!"
Maria Menounos opens up about how her perspective has changed since brain surgery
Two months after she had surgery to remove a non-cancerous brain tumor, Maria Menounos, 39, is getting back to her regular life — but she's changing her approach. "What this has done is shift my focus into more of like a mind, body, spiritual kind of grounding that needs to happen," she tells Us Weekly in a recent interview. "Having a healthy lifestyle was always important for me,. I think this has convinced me to give myself more time, mentally, to breathe. It's not that I don't have female friends — I was just working. There was never, 'Hey, let's have drinks!' It was always work, work, work." Her relationship with fiance Keven Undergaro has is becoming even more of a priority, too. Although she plans to return to work and is already exercising again, Maria admits she wants to get married in the near future. "A few weeks after I was home from surgery, I was like, 'We need to get married! We need to have kids! I can't wait anymore.' But it's like, 'Alright, let's get better first,'" she said. Joking that the couple might never actually tie the knot because they've considered "monster wedding" plans like a "Star Trek"-themed wedding, a carnival-themed wedding and "something massive in our village in Greece where we invite the entire country," she says her fiance helped her see her own strength — something she hadn't really seen before. "Keven would always tell me how strong I was. I never really believed him, but I one zillion percent understand now," says. "I can take a good hit."
Jessica Alba likes proving her former detractors wrong
Jessica Alba doesn't sit around stressing out about the fact that it came as surprise to many when her Honest Company was such a massive success, earning $10 million in revenue in its first year and $150 million two years after that. "There's a way that certain people in the industry characterize actresses and they kind of think that You're only as good as your last job or as good as how you look on the cover of a magazine," she says in the new issue of Cosmopolitan (via the Daily Mail). "I have been confronted with a lot of stigma or barriers because I think they saw me as, I wouldn't say vapid or dumb, but they don't really see any more depth in you. When I was known for an action franchise or a something like that, then it was like, 'That's all you can do.' So then I decided to do a dance movie for young girls. And then I wanted to do comedy because I knew that was going to be so different to this superhero …" Now that she's entrenched in her career as a businesswoman, she's found an approach to the negativity that works. "After I was successful, a lot of people let me know, kind of how they used to think of me, and how they think of me now and I try not to get too offended," she says. "I kinda like proving 'em wrong."
