Nick Lachey says 98 Degrees isn't over yet

The new dad (for the third time!) and beloved boybander recently spoke to Wonderwall.com about his gig as the face of Lay's "Do us a Flavor" campaign (you get to submit ideas for their next chip flavor — enter before March 19), how he's now managing a brood of three, and potentially hitting the road again with 98 Degrees. What's new with 98 Degrees?

"We did a reunion tour with O-Town and Dream last summer. And now we're talking again about the right project to do. The desire to do something again is 100 percent there, we just have to find the right opportunity. You'll definitely be hearing more about 98 Degrees in the near future. We're not over yet!"

How have Camden and Brooklyn reacted to baby Phoenix?

"I don't know if it's because Brooklyn is a middle child or a girl but she's just infatuated with him and wants to hold and kiss 'Baby Phoenix' all the time. And then Camden, my oldest, he's not oblivious in a bad way, he's just noncommittal. He's like, 'This kid just cries and sleeps' so he kind of ignores him. But they're both great with him and all things considered, it's been relatively smooth."

What do you love the most about the Lay's "Do us a Flavor" campaign?

"Flavors take us back to moments in time and everyone had a cool story on why whatever flavor they pitched was meaningful to them. Our ultimate winner two years ago submitted a 'Biscuits and Gravy' idea that was tied to her childhood because it was her favorite meal her grandmother made. We're encouraging everyone to get as creative as they want on Lays.com for this round! Whether it's a song or story, we want people to submit their pitches!"

Speaking of flavors, what would you pitch to Lay's if you could?

"A lot of people don't know this food I grew up on called goetta, which is pork and oats and it comes in a roll and you fry it and eat it with eggs. It's a local Cincinnati delicacy, which is absolutely delicious. I'm not allowed to enter the contest for obvious reasons, but if I were, I'm confident goetta would win, because it's absolutely incredible. I remember growing up, my dad cooked us breakfast on Sunday mornings before church and goetta was a Sunday morning staple. It's meaningful on an emotional level, as food is for many, and I think that's why this contest is so meaningful."

Any advice for new parents?

"The minute you have a kid, your life is just no longer about you, but you wouldn't have it any other way. Nothing you will do in life will ever teach you patience like having kids. But at the same time, at one moment you've never been more exhausted or more flustered but also you've never been more satisfied. It's the most surreal ride I've ever been on and the best thing I've done in my life so far. Get as much sleep as you can once the baby comes and then after that, hold on for dear life!"

Tell us about the scripted boy band show, "Encore," you're working on with Donnie Wahlberg.

"It's in the works. It wasn't the right thing for CBS, they passed on it. But Donnie and I are pitching it again next month and we're confident it will land somewhere. It's about a boy band reconnecting with each other in their 40s and having a second go-around at the whole thing, which you see a lot now, with my band and New Kids On the Block and Backstreet Boys with their residency in Vegas. And I think a lot of these guys would tell you they're enjoying it more now than before. So Donnie and I are really excited about finding the right home for that project."
