Jennifer Lopez criticized for calling herself 'negrita' in 'Lonely' as fans come to her defense
Jennifer Lopez is facing social media backlash over a line in her "Lonely," her new track with Maluma. The lyric in question is, "Siempre serás tu negrita del Bronx," which roughly translates to, "I'll always be your little Black girl from the Bronx." Twitter posts since the song landed show that while lots of listeners have asserted, "negrita is a term of endearment," and that a direct translation isn't fair to the singer, who's of Puerto Rican descent, others see more nuances. "Darker complexion females are less loved in the Hispanic community and basically all communities," posted one user (via Hot97.com). "'Mi morena' or 'mi negrita' are words of endearment for us of darker complexions. If you out here saying it to females who are literally lightskin … (ex. Jlo) it takes away value." Argued another: "Negrita doesn't mean identifying as a black person. Negrita is a term of endearment for trigueños. I don't care for JLo, nor do I defend appropriation of any kind, but Them comments are a reach with this specific lyric." The singer was also dragged back in 2001 for her use of the "N word" in her hit, "I'm Real." According to Metro, she addressed the backlash at the time this way: "For anyone to think or suggest that I'm racist is really absurd and hateful to me. The use of the word in the song – it was actually written by Ja Rule – it was not meant to be hurtful to anybody."

Happy birthday, Zac Efron! The "Down To earth" star celebrated his 33rd trip around the sun on Sunday in Bryon Bay, Australia, with his new girlfriend, Vanessa Valladares, and friends including Craig Hemsworth, Liam and Chris Hemsworth's father, according to reports from People and the Daily Mail. It's not clear exactly when Zac and Vanessa, 25, started dating, but a source previously told People they began "hanging out in July" after meeting in June, when Vanessa was working as a waitress at Byron Bay General Store & Cafe. It sounds like the romance has picked up even more steam since then. According to another People source, the two are "very happy" and "very serious." Adds the insider: "Vanessa lives with Zac in Byron Bay." Vanessa, an aspiring model who's worked with a few Australian brands, is also reportedly a fan of surfing and getting close to nature. She's also likely to keep getting closer to Zac, given his newfound attachment to her native Australia. The actor has reportedly been shopping for a new home Byron Bay, with plans to make his relocation permanent.

Cardi B deactivates her Twitter amid criticism over her on-again marriage to Offset
Cardi B's fans and followers have apparently stepped way over the line on Twitter in criticizing the rapper for trying to work things out with her husband, Offset. Cardi, who filed for divorce from Offset last month, spent much of her birthday week partying with her would-be ex and the two were not shy with their PDA. Given his history of cheating, among other things, fans have since urged her to reconsider — and harassed him — on social media. By Saturday night, she'd finally had enough and deactivated her Twitter. "A whole bunch of 15-year-olds telling me how to live my life like I'm [expletive] Ariana Grande or something …," she griped on Instagram Live, according to Billboard. "I'm so tired that because of y'all I've gotta continuously explain myself," she told viewers. "I didn't put my divorce out there, a … court clerk put it out there. And because people are making rumors up, 'Oh, this guy has a girl pregnant,' this and that, I have to address it." She went on to slam users for attacking Offset directly on his own social media pages. "To be honest with you, my marriage is one of the least worries that I have right now," she added. "I love my fans and I'm thankful and I'm grateful for everything you do, but some of you really be acting like I sleep with ya," Cardi added. She previously defended her marriage and her husband in Elle's September cover story, admitting that the endless criticism makes her feel like fans want her to be "heartbroken." "I do know that my relationship has a lot of drama and everything," she said at the time. "But there's a lot of love there's a lot of passion, there's a lot of trust, there's a big friendship. It's always us against the world."

Kim Kardashian West says she can earn more from a single social media post than a 'whole season' of 'KUWTK'
Good luck keeping up with Kardashians' Instagram earnings … During her appearance on David Letterman's "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction," which returns to Netflix Wednesday, Oct. 21, for its third season, Kim Kardashian West revealed that her family's long-running reality show isn't a huge money-maker compared to what she can earn via social media posts. "We would not be who we are today without 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians' and that's why we continue to share our lives," she says in a clip. "Even if, realistically, we can post something on social media and make more than we do a whole season." Though she didn't specify any numbers, Us Weekly notes she's previously said one Instagram post can bring in around $300,000 on the low end. The high end for one post can be "upwards of $1 million," according to Us. Asked whether she or Kanye West makes more money overall, she said, "Him, probably," then added that they're actually "exactly even" in earnings. "We both are really blessed and do extremely well," she said, "… and I'm really grateful." Kim and her fam recently announced "KUWTK" will come to an end in 2021 after the next season.
Kanye West says he's "praying" for "Insecure" star Issa Rae after the dig she took at his expense while hosting "Saturday Night Live" for the first time over the weekend. One of Issa's skits featured a riff on a comment she made at the 2017 Emmy Awards, in which she told a reporter she would be "rooting for everybody Black" that night. On "SNL," she played an NAACP lawyer on a fake talk show who said she was "voting for everybody Black" in this year's election. As the candidates discussed grew increasingly unappealing, Issa's character stuck to her guns, finding any conceivable reason to still support the Black option on the local ticket. At the end of the skit, she was asked about the presidential election, where Kanye West is running in some states against Donald Trump and Joe Biden. So would she be voting for the Black candidate for president? Not so much. When his name was mentioned, she simply muttered, "Eff Kanye." On Sunday, Kanye, who's been accused of running only to draw votes away from Joe Biden, shared his thoughts on the skit on Twitter. "Ive always said SNL uses black people to hold other black people back," he posted. "My heart goes out to Issa Rae I'm praying for her and her family I know that the twenty years of service that I've paid in the entertainment field has furthered our ability to be more successful," Kanye, by the way, has appeared as a musical guest on "SNL" at least six times since 2005. His last appearance was in 2018, when he appeared in a "MAGA" hat as the credits rolled and ranted from the stage about why he supported Trump in spite of his often racist rhetoric.
Reese Witherspoon teases 'Legally Blonde' reunion: 'We may or may not have done the bend & snap for old times sake …'
Back in May, Reese Witherspoon confirmed her production company, Hello Sunshine, had tasked Mindy Kaling with writing the screenplay for "Legally Blonde 3." But fans of the Elle Woods-goes-to-law-school franchise won't have to wait much longer to catch up with the cast of the 2001 blockbuster. "Ohmigod you guys!! It's a Legally Blonde Reunion. 🎀," Reese shared on Instagram Monday. "We laughed, we cried and we may or may not have done the bend & snap for old times sake! 💅🏽," she joked. "For the first time in 20 years, join me and the #LegallyBlonde cast tomorrow at 3:15PM PST on the @hellosunshine YouTube channel! PS: Don't you want to see if Elle & Warner finally make up?" It was apparently the first time the whole cast has gotten together to share their memories of shooting the original movie — and Reese's former castmate Selma Blair, for one, couldn't have been happier to see everyone via videoconference. "Who doesn't love a reunion? Especially when it is a Legally Blonde one!" Selma posted right after Reese shared her teaser. " Thanks for this Reese. I loved seeing you all! So much love," she added.
Martin Sheen, Bradley Whitford, Allison Janney and more announce 'West Wing'-inspired book
Following last week's "West Wing" reunion on HBO Max, the publishing company Dutton has announced a second reunion is in the works — in book form. Organized by actors Melissa Fitzgerald and Mary McCormack, with some help from series creator Aaron Sorkin and the show's stars, Martin Sheen, Allison Janney and Bradley Whitford, "What's Next: A Citizen's Guide to The West Wing," is slated to feature a mix of memories about the Emmy-winning show, which ran from 1996 until 2006, according to the Associated Press. The book will also make, "a powerful case for competent and empathetic leadership, and for hope and optimism in what lies ahead," according to a statement from Dutton. Last week, the cast reunited for a staged reading of 2002's "Hartsfield's Landing," a 2002 episode in which the U.S. faces growing tensions with China as the White House's senior staff nervously watches a tense election. The show was produced to benefit the nonpartisan voter participation organization, When We All Vote. No release date for the forthcoming book has been set yet.
Courteney Cox reveals she hasn't seen boyfriend Johnny McDaid since March
Two hundred days and counting. That's how long it's been since Courteney Cox has seen her Irish boyfriend, Snow Patrol's Johnny McDaid. As she explained to Foy Vance on his "Vinyl Supper" podcast recently, Johnny headed back to U.K. just days before the U.S. and other countries began enforcing lockdowns to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Courteney, meanwhile, stayed in California with her teenaged daughter, Coco. "At first I was like, 'Wow, what do I do with myself?'" Courteney recalled (via Digital Spy). "I cook every day, I've learned to cook so many more things …" New chef skills aside, the actress admitted she's still frustrated not to have her partner of nearly seven years by her side. "Sundays are different," she said, adding that she misses "the music part of" having that downtime with Johnny, who's worked with the likes of Pink and Ed Sheeran in addition to his own bands. Although she sees friends occasionally now that it's becoming more clear how to stay safe during the pandemic, she had a scare early on when one of the two friends she planned to quarantine with — "If I can't be with John, I don't want to just be by myself with Coco," she told Foy, joking that she's "a little chicken" — developed COVID-19. "They got here on a Friday," she said of the friends. "We'd been tested, we were all negative … But two days later, Kevin started feeling really tired and threw up and the next day he was like, 'I think I have a cold,'" she recalled. It was not a cold. "Four days later he's in the hospital on a ventilator, almost dead," she shared. "Now he's completely recovered, but that was one of the scariest things. I wouldn't even understand COVID-19 had it not been right here." Courtney's due to return to the big screen alongside her ex, David Arquette, Neve Campbell and Selena Gomez, in the forthcoming "Scream 5."
Prince Harry, Duchess Meghan won't spend Christmas with the Queen: Report
Like many people around the world, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan plan to celebrate Christmas at their own home this year. Vanity Fair reports the couple will skip Harry's family's annual Christmas celebration and focus on enjoying the holiday at their new house in California with their son, Archie. They are expected to travel to London shortly after that, though. The Sussexes are reportedly due in court in the U.K. on Jan. 11 as they take on the publisher of the Daily Mail for publishing personal letters exchanged between Meghan and her father ahead of her wedding. Asked if Harry will make it back home prior to the holidays, a source cited complications around "global travel" due to the coronavirus pandemic, saying there are no such plans right now. The pair will reportedly arrive in the U.K. early enough to quarantine for 14 days before the trial.

On the newest edition of Jada Pinkett Smith's "Red Table Talk," Rumer Willis gets candid about the meaning of consent, particularly when a man is significantly older and more experienced than a woman. In a teaser for Tuesday's Facebook Watch episode shared by ET, Rumer recalls that she was 18 the first time she had sex. She says that while she wasn't assaulted, she does think her partner had a responsibility to "check in" with her about whether she was ready. But like many teenagers, she was also curious. "… I was more concerned with the shame that I was feeling at not having done it," she said. "I was not abused or wasn't raped … but I didn't say yes. I wasn't gung-ho about it. But I also didn't say no. I just let it happen." Looking back, she said, she sees the situation in a different light. "He was older and took advantage, and didn't check in. That's where I feel like the man's responsibility is," Rumer explained. "No means no, but what if you can't say no?" Amber Rose and DeAndre Levy are featured on the new show, as well.
