Jessica Simpson has spent most of the past few weeks promoting her new memoir, "Open Book," which tackles her battle with alcohol and pills, her history of sexual abuse — and her not-so-healthy relationship with ex, John Mayer. So what does John — a man who called Jessica "sexual napalm" in a Playboy interview, thereby allowing her to walk away from the relationship forever — think of the details she shares in the book? Jessica certainly doesn't know … because she hasn't told him. In an interview with the New York Times this week, Jess revealed she didn't alert John to the contents of the memoir. "I don't think he'll be shocked," she said. "He knows these stories." As for the napalm comment? She writes she was "floored and embarrassed that my grandmother was actually gonna read that," adding, "he was the most loyal person on the planet and when I read that he wasn't, that was it for me. I erased his number." John, who eventually apologized to Jessica onstage, had not commented on the book as of Thursday, Jan. 30. asked how she'd react if John used her writing about him "to his advantage," she told the Times, "I don't care."

Following her split from Hassan Jameel, Rihanna is not jumping into a romance with A$AP Rocky, Drake or anyone else, despite rumors to the contrary in recent weeks. Rih had dated the Saudi billionaire for nearly three years before news of their split surfaced earlier this month. Just a few days later, fans on social media noticed the singer was hanging out with her rumored ex A$AP Rocky backstage at the YAMS Day concert in New York City and began whispering about a possible romance between the two (again). Romance rumors about another ex, Drake, followed, thanks to photos of Rih watching a performance with him at the same show. So who's Rihanna dating? Nobody, apparently. "Rihanna is single," a source tells E! News. "She just got out of a long intense relationship with Hassan. She's wants to be single and isn't going to jump into something. She's hanging out with A$AP Rocky, but she is not dating him. They have a long history and she's just having fun." That can only be good news for Rihanna's — no romantic distractions mean she has more time to devote to that "R9" "Anti" follow-up … maybe.

Shania Twain calls her marriage 'beautifully twisted'

"Beautifully twisted." That's how Shania Twain describes the way she met her husband of nine years, Frederic Thiebaud, in the new issue of AARP The Magazine. As she tells AARP, Frederic was married to the singer's close friend and personal assistant Marie-Anne Thiébaud when Shania's husband, co-writer and producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange announced in 2008 that he was leaving her. A few weeks later, she discovered the marriage actually ended because "Mutt" and Marie-Anne were having an affair. And it was Frederic who told her. She became depressed — "there were days I didn't really care if tomorrow came," she recalls — but eventually developed a close friendship with Frederic. After things shifted to romance for the two, they got engaged and married in 2011. "Survival is everything," she says (via People). "I was in quicksand. I panicked, like everybody does, but I didn't surrender. I found a way out." That first marriage wasn't the only time she was forced into survival mode. growing up in Canada, Shania watched her stepfather abuse her mother repeatedly, starting when Shania was 4 and he knocked her mom unconscious and attempted to drown her. "That was the beginning of the norm for the rest of my childhood," she says. "I don't know how we survived it." She did survive, but she'd have more massive challenges ahead of her. When the singer was 22, her mother and stepfather were killed in a car accident, leaving Shania to care for her three siblings. "Sometimes I get overwhelmed coping with things, but experience also teaches you how to manage," muses Shania, who's now 54. "When you get older, you have so much experience at falling and getting up. You're not going to stop falling. But you will get better at getting up and brushing yourself off. I believe that. I've lived it."

The two were shooting a "four-minute scene with me and Jude Law beating each other up," Blake told Jimmy Fallon (via THR). "And then on my hand, I severed a ligament here, so my knuckles are kind of dropped and then I dislocated these two bones and broke some things." Turns out she'd punched his elbow. "My hand just basically turned into party confetti. It was just like, 'Pow' upon contact," she said, laughing. Two surgeries and lots of physical therapy later, Blake's hand is working again — and the film, which had to have its release date pushed back because of her injury — is due out Jan. 31. If you see it, though, the actress would like you to bear one thing in mind: "I did give my right hand for this movie." Badum-ching.

Lil Nas X issues the perfect response to homophobic tweet about his Grammys ensemble

Can someone please give Lil Nas X a third Grammy? Because his response to the homophobic tirade Atlanta rapper Pastor Troy recently posted about the "Old Town Road" singer really deserves its own statue. "Welp, Guess I won't be winning a GRAMMY…If this what I gotta wear," Pastor Troy wrote on Instagram this week, sharing a photo of Nas X in his hot pink suit and cowboy hat at the 2020 Grammy Awards. "They love to push this s— on Our Kids!!," Pastor Troy continued in the post, which has since been deleted, according to AJC.com. The full post went on to talk about the LGBTQ+ community's alleged "agenda to take the masculinity from Men, Black Men Especially," among other things. Nas X paid it little mind. He simply checked out his own picture from that night again, reposted the Pastor Troy rant and wrote, "damn i look good in that pic on god." Well played.

Elle Macpherson claps back after being accused of tweaking her face

Lil Nas X wasn't the only celeb with a perfect clap-back on social media this week. Supermodel Elle Macpherson shared a selfie with functional medicine expert Will Cole on Instagram over the weekend. She looked pretty beautiful for any age in the pic, but that didn't keep one troll from criticizing her face. "Whatever your [sic] doing to your face STOP IT!" the commenter wrote (via MSN). "You don't look like yourself anymore! WTF Why do people with money & not want to ruin their beautiful faces. Please stop you were beautiful now not so much." Elle, 55, picked up on the comment and replied — perfectly. "The only thing I'm doing is aging gracefully without interference," she wrote. "Sorry if it doesn't work for your vision of what you think I should look like. I'm me. Healthy happy and nearly 60. Go figure." The rest of the thread quickly filled with love for Elle, assurances that her healthy attitude is inspiring and at least one reminder that "it's the inside that counts" anyway.

Meghan McCain addresses rumors she and Abby Huntsman are on the outs

Meghan McCain did indeed feud with her close friend and "View" co-host Abby Huntsman when the two were working side by side. Meghan stopped by "Watch What Happens Live" this week and explained what happened between the two, who were rumored to have been on the outs over Meghan's "rude" behavior, according to Page Six. "Abby and I have been friends for over 10 years," Meghan told Andy Cohen on "WWHL." "Our parents were friends in politics, we worked at Fox together. Part of the reason she came to 'The View' is because we were friends." When Andy pushed for more info about their "breakup," Meghan assured him they are past it. "We are still very good friends. We are very close. I just talked to her yesterday morning. She's campaigning with her dad. I think she was genuinely conflicted about her dad running for governor and her not helping, and that is the reason why she left," Meghan said. "We did get in a fight, which is a very small fight and a friend fight, and all friendships have ups and downs. … It was sort of bizarre for me, and I think bizarre for her, to have — the fact that we got in one fight the two years that we worked together on the show, to be put under dissection in the media, to be weaponized." Meghan added that all the talk about her co-hosts' negative feelings about her had become "emotionally taxing." Abby's departure from the show, Meghan said, made for a few "really, really rough" weeks. "… I didn't want her to go, selfishly, because I thought she was an amazing co-host and just having a friend there has been lovely," she explained. Finally, she denied rumors she had planned to resign before Abby left, saying she would quit if Whoopi Goldberg were to do so. "Like, Whoopi is the anchor of the show and my life there and she always picks us up when we're down, but if she jumps, I jump," she said. "Whoopi, I adore her and I need her as the moderator."

Hilary Duff opens up about mom guilt over her second pregnancy

Hilary Duff's second pregnancy came with a heavy dose of guilt, courtesy of her 7-year-old son, Luca. "The guilt that I felt for bringing her into the world was so big. It was just he and I for so long," Hilary recently told PureWow.com. "He was like, 'Why? Why, Mom? Why would you do this? I really just love the way it is.' And it wasn't bratty, it was just so sad." The "Younger" star took that sadness to heart. "I was like, 'How do I reverse this?! It's too late now.' It's such big feelings. When you're pregnant, everything just feels more magnified," she explained. There's a happy ending to the story, though. Hilary welcomed her daughter Banks in 2018 and Luca assumed big brother duties immediately. "He came in after I had her. I was just holding her, and the look on his face was an absolute shock. He just said, 'That's my sister!'" she recalled. Later, Luca was so protective of his sister he refused to even sneeze in the same room as her. "It's really sweet the way he looks out for her," she added.

Diane Keaton reveals her brother inspired her character's sibling in 'Annie Hall'

In a new memoir, Diane Keaton opens up about how her relationship with her brother, John Randolph Hall, changed over the years. Randy, as he's called, suffers from an as yet undefined mental illness, something Diane's parents didn't get help for early on. The issues worsened over time, Randy began drinking heavily and eventually developed dementia that landed him in a care facility. In her book, "Brother & Sister," the actress reveals that Randy was actually the inspiration for her character's brother, Duane in 1977's "Annie Hall." "Over the years people did a lot of measuring of Randy's mental status, and it all came to naught. He was so hidden. I wanted to explore the mystery of him," Diane tells People. She explains how, as kids, she "wondered why he was always crying." Schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and other diagnoses came and went, she recalled. Meanwhile, she worried her success as an actress made life more challenging for Randy. "I think it's hard for anyone who has a sibling who's out there, throwing themselves into the world and getting recognition," she noted. "I wouldn't be happy to have a sister like that. Nobody wants to be compared." The memoir hits stores Feb. 4.
