John Cena says he's 'very happy' with Shay Shariatzadeh after Nikki Bella split
Last week, Nikki Bella announced she and her former "Dancing With the Stars" pro Artem Chiqvintsev secretly got engaged in November. Is Nikki's ex John Cena next? The WWE star and his girlfriend Shay Shariatzadeh looked pretty smitten on Saturday, Jan. 11, when they attended the Los Angeles premiere for John's new film "Doolittle," where they shared a smooch on the red carpet at one point. Asked about the glow of contentment on his face, John later told "Extra," "Thank you very much… I am very happy." John was first linked to Shay, a tech sector project manager, in March of last year. Katharine McPhee shuts down troll with high note clip
Don't mess with Katharine McPhee — especially when it comes to her talent. Over the weekend, a Twitter troll learned that lesson very publicly after accusing the singer of "butchering" "To Love You More," the Celine Dion number she performed on her husband's "An Intimate Evening with David Foster." Responding to a tweet that read, "Dear @katharinemcphee don't EVER sing 'to love you more'!!! The fact that @officialdfoster would let you butcher that song – a classic at that, WOW!," Katharine, who recently wrapped up her final few performances as the star of "Waitress" on Broadway, simply shared a clip that shows her hitting a ridiculously high note. "I'd like to see you try this, b—-," the "Anerican Idol" alum captioned the video. Her fans soon followed that up with messages of support and solidarity, ranging from "A FREAKING LEGEND LADIES AND GENTLEMEN," (via SheKnows) to, "Handling criticism exclusively like this in 2020."
Joaquin Phoenix opens up about how River Phoenix's death still affects him
Joaquin Phoenix rarely discusses his personal life, including the 1993 death of his brother, River Phoenix. But a segment for "60 Minutes" features the Oscar nominee sitting down with Anderson Cooper for a candid talk about the effects his sibling's death at age 23 has had on him. "We were so removed from the entertainment world. We didn't watch entertainment shows. We didn't have the entertainment magazines in our house. You know, River was a really substantial actor and movie star and we didn't really know it," recalled Joaquin (via JustJared), who was out with his brother when he died in front of the Viper Room in Los Angeles. "During that time in which you're most vulnerable, there are helicopters flying over, there are people that are trying to sneak onto your land. Certainly, for me it felt like it impeded on the mourning process," he explained. River's death affected Joaquin's work, too, he told Anderson. "I feel like in virtually every movie that I made, there was a connection to River in some way. And I think that we've all felt his presence and guidance in our lives in numerous ways," he said. "I think it just… awakened something in me. And I could suddenly see it through his eyes. There's a part in Raging Bull where [Robert] De Niro meets a girl in between a chain-link fence. And he, you know, shakes her pinky and it's like this just beautiful little detail, it's this wonderful moment. And I think that in some ways is what I'm always looking for."

Issa Rae
The 2020 Oscar nominations were announced on Monday, Jan. 13 and once again, the results sparked as much buzz for the small number of women and minorities represented as for the actual nominees. That's in part thanks to Issa Rae's follow-up comment after she read the best director nominations, which went to Martin Scorsese ("The Irishman"), Todd Phillips ("Joker"), Sam Mendes ("1917"), Quentin Tarantino ("Once upon a Time… in Hollywood") and Bong Joon Ho ("Parasite"). Said the "Insecure" writer, director and star: "Congratulations to those men." As CNN reminds us, the mention was similar to Natalie Portman's 2017 presentation of the best director category, which she prefaced by saying, "And here are the all-male nominees."

"Like I was watching War http://documentaries.No matter how many weapons a country have you need people ! Selena Gomez slams fans for attacking Madison Beer about her dinner with Hailey Bieber
Selena Gomez won't tolerate her fans' social media bullying, even if it's on her behalf. The singer recently picked up on negative comments made about Hailey Bieber and Madison Beer's intentions when they stopped by the same restaurant in Los Angeles where Selena was reportedly celebrating the release of her new album, "Rare." Hailey, who's married to Selena's ex Justin Bieber, and Madison Beer, who was rumored to have dated Justin, were accused of intentionally hurting Selena's feelings when they showed up at Craig's in West Hollywood. "This is disgusting reading all of this. This wasn't intentional whatsoever," Selena commented on one post, according to People. "I'm so disappointed that people would speak to someone like this, she continued. "I have known Madison since she was a baby and watched her continue to become the woman she is. There is no issue." Madison posted about the negative feedback, too, writing: "These rumors are getting insane.. I just had dinner with my friend hailey of 10 years… and that's it? How is that a crime? Kristen Bell gives moving speech at Critics Choice Awards
From now on, whenever Kristen Bell glances at her 2020 Critics Choice award, she'll remember to see herself for the holistic, complex person she is — not the one-dimensional person so many women are made to feel like they are. Kristen, 39, won the #SeeHer award at the Sunday, Jan. 12, ceremony, where she was praised for embodying "the values set forth by the SeeHer movement, to push boundaries on changing stereotypes and acknowledge the importance of authentic portrayals of women across the entertainment landscape," according to People. In her moving speech, she shared with the audience what goes through her head when she's asked what it means to be a woman today. "My immediate reaction is always to answer with words like 'strong' and 'brave' and 'powerful,'" Kristen said. "But if I'm being honest, to me, being a woman isn't about being brave or being strong or being powerful. It isn't about being anything specific. It is just about giving yourself permission to be the things you already are," she continued. "Which seems very easy, but it is not, because women have been conditioned to fit into boxes. Usually tiny, pretty sparkly boxes, with bows on them generally." Kristen went on to explain how, to her, "the idea of womanhood is someone who sheds the perfect little box and owns their complexity," noting that she's played some "really complex women." "Veronica Mars who was sassy and strong, but also soft and sad," she said, listing them. "Eleanor Shellstrop ('The Good Place') who's tough and independent, but who was also capable of love and community. Princess Anna ('Frozen') who's most likely the most unprincessy princess that has ever been animated, and Sarah Marshall ('Forgetting Sarah Marshall') who, let's be honest, was kind of an a——, but to me she was a really likable a——." Summing what she learned from those experiences, she said they showed her " that nobody is just one thing … we are all all of the things." Finally, she thanked the crowd for the award, which she described as a "reminder to #SeeHer and see myself in total, the brave parts and the cowardly parts– and even the parts that cry at sloths."
