Kim Kardashian West had an eventful day on Thursday, Nov. 8. Prior to evacuating her family from their home in the Hidden Hills section of Los Angeles due to wildfires, Kim was in northern California, meeting with employees and inmates of San Quentin State Prison, where two men on death row reportedly committed suicide over the weekend. TMZ reports the reality star's prison visit lasted "several hours," and may have been tied to her interest in the case of death row inmate Kevin Cooper, whom she's asked Gov. Jerry Brown to consider taking a second look at. Cooper was convicted of murdering four members of a family in 1985. The one survivor, however, has said it was not Cooper, who is African-American, but three white or Hispanic men who killed his family. Last month, Kim registered a plea for Cooper on social media, asking the governor to "add Kevin Cooper to your legacy of smart, fair and thoughtful criminal justice reforms." She met with Donald Trump at the White House one month earlier, where the two discussed prison reform and clemency issues. The meeting led to the president's decision to commute the sentence of a grandmother serving life in prison for a first-time, non-violent drug offense.

Whoah, "Star Wars'" Kylo Ren has a secret child?! The New York Post reports Adam Driver and his wife, actress Joanne Tucker, have a 2-year-old son. And as juicy as the phrase "secret son" may sound, it seems Adam and Joanne simply kept the news of their expanding family off the public radar for their own reasons. Sources close to the couple say the kid's existence has been regularly alluded to on private, family Instagram accounts, with Joanne's pregnancy — which apparently coincided with her sister's pregnancy — getting shoutouts like one photo of the siblings captioned, "Sisters. Nearly matching everything. #babyshowerx2." Another photo, reportedly posted by Joanne's other sister, is said to read, "My sisters and new moms." The Post also points out Adam's given interviews where it seems like his child is being referenced. Speaking to W last year, he seemed to catch himself dropping a baby hint in the process of professing his love for his dog. "I look at my dog — this sounds so absurd — but it's not — I don't know if I can love anything more," he blurted out. "Like, I have a kid, maybe — and be like, [gestures dismissively]. But the dog!" While promoting "Logan Lucky" with Channing Tatum in 2017, Channing jokingly suggested Adam should "imagine you're just making martinis for your baby" after the "Girls" alum said he doesn't have parties and therefore couldn't address some martini question the reporter had raised. Other stars who attempted to keep their kids on the DL before and after they were born include Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes, Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher and Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys — although, as W reminds us, none of those folks managed to go two whole years without leaking the news.

Katy Perry's deposition in Kesha's sexual assault suit against Dr. Luke will be made public

Whatever Katy Perry said about producer Dr. Luke in a deposition for Kesha's sexual assault trial will soon be unsealed in spite of Katy's request to the contrary, according to the New York Post. A while back in the seemingly endless legal battle between Kesha and Dr. Luke, it was revealed Kesha claimed in a text message that the producer had also raped Katy. That text — sent by Kesha to yet another pop star, Lady Gaga — was dubbed a lie by Dr. Luke as the legal proceedings continued. Katy's deposition is expected to be unsealed in the next three days after a Manhatan Supreme Court judge ruled whatever Katy testified was "relevant to several important factual and legal issues" and that there was "legitimate public interest" in revealing the information. The judge also ruled against Dr. Luke's request not to make public the names of artists he's working with in 2018. Kesha's medical records will remain sealed, according to the Post, but could become public once the trial begins next year. The messy case began in 2014 when Kesha sued Dr. Luke on grounds he "sexually, physically, verbally and emotionally" abused her for more than 10 years beginning when she signed with him at age 18. Dr. Luke counter-sued Kesha for defamation.

There will be no more Fantasy Bras in Adriana Lima's future. The longtime Victoria's Secret Angel announced this week that 2018 was her last Victoria's Secret Runway Show. "Dear Victoria," she wrote in a "goodbye" post on Instagram. "Thank you for showing me the world, sharing your secrets, and most importantly not just giving me wings but teaching me to fly," "And all the ❤️ to the best fans in the 🌎! Love, Adriana 💖." Speaking to Us Weekly shortly before she walked in her final show on Nov. 8, the 37-year-old beauty said her kids, Valentina, 8, and Sienna, 6, would be cheering their mom on that evening. "They're going to be there tonight. They're going to be watching the show," she said. "I want to make my children proud. I want to give the best for them, so I hope that tonight I will pull it out." Adriana first hit the runway for Victoria's Secret back in 1999, making her the longest-running model for the brand. Last year, she was given an MVP honor of sorts when VS named her its Most Valuable Angel. The 2018 show airs Dec. 2 on ABC.

After more than a year of buzz, "Mary Poppins Returns" starring Emily Blunt as the famously magical, flying nanny hits theaters on Dec, 19 — and even Vogue is excited. The fashion bible devotes its December cover to Emily, who reflects in the accompanying feature on how she prepared to play Julie Andrews' famous role, how the experience affected her daughter, Violet and what the deal is with Mary's magical powers. "She's a superhero," Emily offers. "You could say she's some sort of angel. She recognizes what people need, and she gives it to them, yet they discover something about themselves in the process. I don't think she concerns herself with what she is. There's nobody else like her—which she quite likes." As for the musical aspects of the film, Emily says she avoided revisiting the 1964 original before heading to the set. "I knew that if I watched Julie Andrews's version, maybe I would take the edge off of what my instincts were telling me to do. Also, I didn't want to be completely intimidated by the brilliance of her voice," Emily admits. The actress adds that she was pregnant with her second child when she began working on the film. The timing coincided with her wrapping up the dark drama, "The Girl on the Train," in which she played a depressed, newly single voyeur with a drinking problem who may or may not be connected to a woman's disappearance. "It was medicinal, singing these happy Mary Poppins songs after what I'd been through every day [with 'The Girl on the Train,'" Emily says. "Poor Violet; she'd been rattling around inside me while I played this alcoholic train wreck. But then I think she benefited from all the singing."

It sounds like things are getting serious for Jonah Hill and his girlfriend, stylist Gianna Santos. The newly minted director brought Gianna to the WSJ Innovator Awards this week, where the New York Post reports he stuck close to her side at the event, thanked her from the stage and continued celebrating with her at the afterparty. When Jonah accepted his Innovator Award for writing and directing "Mid90s," he couldn't help but acknowledge the support of the folks sitting with him that evening — Gianna, Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen, producer Eli Bush, Jonah's BFF Sarah Moonves and designers Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough. "When I look at my table," he said, according to the Post, "[and see] all these great artists… I realize ['Mid90s'] is about a lonely kid finding a community and love, and through my luck I've been able to build my own." Jonah and Gianna were first linked romantically over the summer.

Production on a new video from rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine featuring Kanye West and Nicki Minaj has been shut down after a drive-by shooting was reported at the mansion in Beverly Hills where the video was being filmed on Thursday, Nov. 8. According to TMZ, 'Ye was inside and Nicki was on her way to the house when at least eight shots were fired from a car outside. 50 Cent later posted a photo of a bullet hole in the window of a bedroom that was reportedly going to be used as Nicki's dressing room. The Blast reports Kanye and Nicki, as well as their security teams had been made aware the video set could be targeted for gang-related activity. Kanye reportedly left as soon as the shots were fired. No one was injured. "Thank you for everyone's prayers," 'Ye later tweeted. "Our family is safe and close." It's unclear if he was referring to the shooting or the wildfire that forced him and his family to evacuate their home.

Lady Gaga gets candid about PTSD, suicidal ideation, masochistic tendencies in lengthy mental health awareness speech

Lady Gaga is calling on Hollywood to do its part in changing the world. The singer gave a long, candid speech when she accepted a patron award at the SAG-AFTRA Foundation's Patron of the Artists Awards on Thursday, Nov. 8, and she used the platform to urge SAG-AFTRA to team up with her Born This Way Foundation to set up mental health supports for members of the union. The singer also announced she wanted to make a donation to get the program off the ground. Detailing her own struggles with mental health, she recalled getting treatment after becoming overwhelmed with her career and finding that she'd developed physical symptoms related to PTSD as well as "suicidal ideation and masochistic behavior." "I began to notice that I would stare off into space and black out for seconds or minutes," Gaga explained, according to the New York Post. "I would see flashes of things I was tormented by, experiences that were filed away in my brain with 'I'll deal with you later' for many years because my brain was protecting me, as science teaches us. These were also symptoms of disassociation and PTSD and I did not have a team that included mental health support." The singer has been open about her experience being sexually assaulted and went on to say she wished "there had been a system in place to protect and guide me, a system in place to empower me to say no to things I felt I had to do, a system in place to empower me to stay away from toxic work environments or working with people who were of seriously questionable character." As she began to wrap up, she recalled, "There were days that I struggled or couldn't make it to work and I don't want that for other artists or anyone," before urging the audience to "bring mental health into the light" by having more people share their stories. "It is dangerous," she said, "and we know this because amongst other shootings and acts of violence just last night there was a shooting in Thousand Oaks by a veteran who was believed to have suffered from untreated post-traumatic stress disorder, which is a mental health issue." She ended by telling the crowd, "let's f—— change the world."

Jada Pinkett Smith talks race and gender with celebrated racial diversity teacher Jane Elliott

When Jada Pinkett Smith returns with a new edition of her Facebook Watch series, "Red Table Talk" on Monday, Nov. 12, the focus will be on race and the strained ways white women and women of color interact. Jada's guest for the show is Jane Elliott, whose racial diversity teachings rose to prominence after she had a third grace class participate in and write about an experiment she called "blue eyes – brown eyes." She had students take part in the exercise the day after Martin Luther King, Jr., was assassinated in 1968 in order to show the class what it felt like to be segregated and treated differently based on an arbitrary physical factor like eye color. "I'm not a white woman, I'm a faded black person," the 85-year-old teacher tells Jada at one point, according to People. "My people [are those who are] far from the equator and that's the only reason my skin is lighter. That's all any white person is." (She was referring to the fact that all humans' lineage can be traced back to Africa in some way.) As she spoke, Jada simply listened and said "wow" before her mom, Adrienne Banfield-Jones agreed with Jane, reiterating, "There's no such thing as race." Jane went on to tell the show's host, "There's one race: the human race. We all came from the same black women 300,000 to 500,000 years ago. … The human race began with black women."
