Time to get lost! Will Ferrell and a few ferocious pals have been travelling the globe to promote his new movie "Land of the Lost." The soon-to-be blockbuster hits theaters on June 5, but Wonderwall caught up with the cast and some familiar fans at the Los Angeles premiere last week.
Is Will Ferrell the funniest leading man throughout all of space and time? Perhaps. But more importantly, the actor claims, "The scariest creature in 'Land of the Lost' is … me."
And the scariest thing he ever ate? "The cornea of a reindeer. After filming that, I immediately got lost for a week and a half," said Ferrell, in reference to his recent stint on "Man Vs. Wild."
"Land of the Lost" and TV's "Eastbound & Down" star Danny McBride agreed that Will is the scariest part of the movie. "Will Ferrell naked is a scary, scary creature," said McBride, who went on to say he "tapped into a lot of natural survival abilities [through] research … like running around my house pretending to be chased by a dinosaur."
The chivalrous actor also called his co-star Anna Friel, "Smoking hot and very sweet."
Find out everything you need to know about "Land of the Lost"
Brit beauty Anna Friel plays Will Ferrell's sexy research assistant in "Land of the Lost." So, which one of Will's famous characters would she most like to date in real life? "Ooh, I like Ron Burgundy," Friel revealed. "But I'd also really like to go on a date with Chazz from 'Blades of Glory.'"
Note to men everywhere: The only profession chicks find hotter than being a scientist or an anchorman? A male figure skater.
"Land of the Lost" director Brad Silberling and his wife, actress Amy Brenneman, were in good spirits as they walked the red carpet at the premiere. Silberling felt confident about his movie competing with "Year One" in terms of subject matter. "I haven't seen it, but … they're dealing with terrestrial years and we're dealing with an alternate universe," he explained. "I'm just saying, I feel a little stronger."
Silberling also described a giant mosquito attack scene, while Brenneman just said she wanted more cowbell.
"Saturday Night Live" and "Land of the Lost" star Jorma Taccone walked the red carpet with his wife Marielle Heller. In the movie, he plays a monkey-man-ish creature named Cha-Ka. We wondered, was he excited about that role or a little worried about typecasting?
"I was super excited until everyone I knew — even my father — was like, 'Wow! You're playing a weird freakish monkey, that's perfect!'" said Jorma. "And that's when I realized I didn't know how to feel about this anymore."
The funny guy went on to describe a "really graphic" love scene that may or may not have made it into the final cut of the film. "There's a lot of hair pulling, obviously, on both ends and … well, it's a great scene. I'm not sure it made it in there, but I'm guessing PG-13 rating? It's in. Definitely."
Fresh from a flash media storm over the alleged Keifer Sutherland head-butt , Brooke Shields and her husband, "Land of the Lost" writer Chris Henchy, walked the red carpet at the premiere. We heard a rumor that Brooke voices the roar of a T.rex in the film, but we can't reveal our alternate universe source.
"Land of the Lost" fan and "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson showed up at the premiere and sounded off about his manly love for Will Ferrell.
"Here's the deal: Since Will gave me a shout out in his last movie, he is now my boy for life. He is a true homeboy, a true homeboy right there, you know what I'm saying? I feel like he grew up right there in the hood with me. And I love Ricky Bobby." Does anyone else smell a new Hollywood bromance a-brewing?
Finally, no Hollywood red carpet movie premiere would be complete without a Jared "The Subway Guy" Fogle sighting.
"Frank the Tank from 'Old School' is my ultimate favorite [Will Ferrell character]," gushed Fogle. That totally makes sense. He seems like a real "life of the party" guy himself. Guess who's bringing the giant sub platter? Jared's bringing the giant sub platter!
