Madonna on Trump win: Women betrayed us

The majority of women who voted in the 2016 presidential election threw their weight behind a candidate who bragged about grabbing women by their genitals and who was accused by multiple women of sexual assault. It's a fact that continues to mystify and irk Madonna, who opened up about the election in her Billboard Woman of the Year cover story. "It feels like women betrayed us," she said (via Us Weekly). "The percentage of women who voted for Trump was insanely high. Women hate women. That's what I think it is. Women's nature is not to support other women. It's really sad. Men protect each other, and women protect their men and children. Women turn inward and men are more external." She went on to fault those who chose not to vote with helping the GOP nominee win last month. "A lot of it has do with jealousy and some sort of tribal inability to accept that one of their kind could lead a nation. Other people just didn't bother to vote because they didn't like either candidate, or they didn't think Trump had a chance in the world," she said. "They took their hands off the wheel and then the car crashed."

Mariah Carey, Bryan Tanaka reflect on reconnecting

As 2016 winds down, social media has become a bit of a gripe session for those who found the year was stuffed with downsides — from the controversial election to the deaths of influential artists like Prince. But Mariah Carey, who split from her fiance James Packer, earlier this year, still sees 2016 as "a good year," she told E! News at a party celebrating the release of her new reality show over the weekend. "There were so many really good parts of 2016. I think people should watch the show because they're gonna see, they're gonna see moments. I'm just so glad that I documented it," she said. The singer also addressed her relationship with backup dancer Bryan Tanaka, whom she'd known for many years before growing close with him again during her recent tour. "It's really nice, especially when you've worked with somebody in the past and then you get to work with them again and just see how everybody's grown creatively and all that," she said. Bryan echoed those sentiments. "I've always had a thing for Mariah. I love her so much," he admitted. "Just make sure you tune in to the show and you'll see kind of how everything happens. Something connected with us back in the day and there was just a mutual admiration. She saw something in me that I actually didn't recognize at first, from that it was over. It was set in history that we were gonna be connected some way, some how." Like by the lips!

Nicki Minaj's video of a mentally ill women inspires more backlash

Since she posted a video of a mentally ill woman on a street in Miami, Nicki Minaj has faced backlash from fans and social media users. Now, the Miami branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness is on her case as well. "Nobody would make fun of a cancer patient and mental illness is an illness like any other," a rep for the group told TMZ. In the video, Nicki mostly asks the woman, who looks confused and frustrated as she mumbles to herself and smokes a cigarette, to come talk to her. The woman becomes more agitated as Nicki continues to pester her and eventually walks away. According to TMZ, multiple commenters pointed out the woman is known to suffer from mental illness.

Beyonce's Grammy nominations could set record wins

Ready for another ride on the "Lemonade" hype machine? Good, because the 2017 Grammy Awards nominee list has you covered. JustJared reports Beyonce's nine nominations this year mean she could overtake Grammy-winning fiend Alison Krauss to become the winning-est female artist in Grammy history. (Beyonce is already the most nominated female artist in Grammy history.) Allison currently has 27 wins under her belt, while Bey has 20. She was nominated for nine more awards this year, putting her in a position to beat out Allison's record if she wins at least eight times. One more fun fact: If Bey wins all nine of the awards for which she's nominated, she will be the first artist ever to win more than eight trophies in one Grammy night.

That time Will Smith borrowed gas money from a fan

Nothin' like a little '90s solidarity in a time of need … When he stopped by to chat with Jimmy Kimmel on Monday, Dec. 5, Will Smith admitted he recently leaned on a random fan for gas money when he found he'd run out of fuel. The story came out because the show host asked if Will ever felt his fame was a burden. Nope, not so much. "About three weeks ago … I was driving and I realized I was on E," Will recalled (via E! News). "I was about 30 minutes from my house, so I pulled into the gas station and I didn't have my wallet." His first thought was to call his wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, but he was already too far from home so he surveyed the gas station for other options. "I looked over on the other side and [saw a guy]. He was like 36 years old. I was like, 'That dude's a 'Fresh Prince' fan. You just can spot them," Will said with a mischievous grin spreading across his face. "So I just rolled the window down and was like …" Cue silly mug. "He was like, 'Will?!' I was like, 'Yeah, hey!' And he said, 'Hey, man, can I get a picture?' I said, 'Yeah, man … I need about 10 dollars …" They took the selfie, Will asked for the fan's address so he could pay him back and the fan refused. "He was like, 'Dude, no way!'" Will said, "No way—that's yours." We would have asked for repayment in the form of a Fresh Prince sweater, but that's just us!

Leo reportedly spent no time taking advantage of amenities like the vitamin C-infused showers in the apartment, which he had rented it to an adviser for Bill Clinton at one point.

A new complication is surfacing in the custody drama between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Sources have reportedly told TMZ Angelina's push for sole physical custody of their six kids — as well as her allegations Brad was abusive to their eldest child on a plane — are connected to Angelina's overall desire to move to London with the children in the hopes of landing a top-ranking job at the United Nations, such as Secretary General. The website goes on to say Angelina's been advised by members of the British government that moving to London could help her chances, job-wise, with the U.N., for which she already serves as a Special Envoy, Reps for the actress have denied the TMZ report, saying she only has the best interests of the children in mind and will not move to London, although she will spend more time there due to her upcoming guest professor position at the London School of Economics' Centre for Women, Peace and Security next fall. In the meantime, ET reports she'll continue "safe harbor therapy" with her children. As for Brad, he was cleared by the DCFS of all abuse claims following a long investigation. He is reportedly pursuing permanent joint custody of the kids after the current, temporary agreement ends.

Though she campaigned for Hillary Clinton, "Jackie" star Natalie Portman sees some parallels between the Kennedys and the Trumps. "You're looking at the White House and where they live and you're imagining the Trump family living there," she recently told Bustle in an interview about her new film. "The Kennedys were also this very wealthy, attractive family and now, to see this aspirational aspect of a lot of people who voted for Trump, what they like about the Trump family, this sort of glamour and excitement of wealth — the aspirational aspect, there's some echo."

Prince William tackles mental health in the workplace

Prince William asked those involved with his campaign for mental health awareness, Heads Together, to turn their attention towards mental health issues in the workplace this week. "Work, as we all know, can at times be a source of great fulfillment, growth and fun, but also at times a significant source of stress ­ sometimes — if we are honest, to the point of its being overwhelming," he said (via Celebitchy) at a meeting for Heads Together, which he debuted earlier this year withg Duchess Kate and Prince Harry. "Catherine, Harry and I have been campaigning on this issue for only a few months now, but what we have observed already is that when we get our heads together ­when we talk and listen to family, to friends and colleagues, we share the load; we reduce the problem; we realize we are not alone and we break down the barriers that prevent us from getting the help we need. It is really that simple: a problem shared is a problem halved," he continued. He went on to emphasize the importance of employers supporting open dialog about mental health concerns, a practice he said his non-Palace place of employment, the East Anglican Air Ambulance Service, has made an effort to uphold. "All of the air ambulance team know that we can get help for what is going on in our heads if we need it. We know where to turn, as practical help is well sign-posted, and we know that no one will judge us if we do admit to difficulties. Mental health exists ­ just as physical health exists. It is no big deal."
