Meghan McCain awkwardly references husband's Seth Meyers tweets on 'The View'
Last month, Meghan McCain's husband — the conservative writer and co-founder of "The Federalist," Ben Domenech — went on what he later admitted was a "rage tweeting" attack on Seth Meyers following his wife's appearance on "Late Night." (Her interview had been especially tense when Seth grilled her about her comments linking the California synagogue shooting with some of the controversial rhetoric of Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar as a means of suggesting "we should be looking at extremism on both sides.") Ben eventually posted an apology for his tweets, which were full of expletives, many of them vulgar, in addition to blasting Seth as "awful, untalented" and someone who "got ahead" in his career only because of his race and gender. This week, when talk on "The View" turned to Donald Trump's visit to London and meetings with members of the royal family, Meghan found a way to make what a would-be lighthearted related to her husband's profane tweets. The conversation was focused at one point on how the president failed to secure the photo op with young royals like Prince Harry he probably was hoping for. As the ladies discussed the fact Trump had blasted Duchess Meghan as "nasty," Sunny Hostin said Harry's "absence" from Trump's events "speaks volumes." "I like a man who sticks up for his wife," she said, earning the crowd's applause (via the Daily Beast). Cue the otherwise quiet Meghan and her hubby reference: "Well, I don't have that problem in my house," she announced, appearingt o wait for applause that didn't really come. "My husband sticks up for me publicly," she pressed on, "so I understand Harry's … my husband rides very hard for me, so I also appreciate that." Before the segment ended, Meghan turned the chatter back to her family, sharing how much she liked the digs British folks took at Trump for his rivalry with Meghan's father, John McCain — and the allegation he intentionally kept McCain's ship out of view during his recent Japan trip. "I found it very entertaining the way that British people troll," she said, sharing an image of a USS John S. McCain hat an anti-Brexit group projected during Trump's visit. "They do it so much better than we do," she added.

Justin and Hailey Bieber reportedly considering September wedding date
After a number of plan changes around their more formal, second wedding celebration, Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber are reportedly eyeing a date in early fall to exchange vows surrounded by family and friends. That's according to an Us Weekly source who tells the magazine the pair "have talked about possibly having their wedding closer to their one-year marriage anniversary date in September." Justin and Hailey technically became husband and wife last September at a New York City courthouse. They initially sent out save the date cards for a more traditional ceremony, then switched up the date a second time before deciding Justin's mental health wasn't where he needed it to be. The couple then reportedly decided to wait until the singer was in a healthier headspace before proceeding with wedding arrangements. At this point, though, even their immediate families seem unsure of what's happening and when. "Who knows what their plans are," Hailey's older sister, Alaia Baldwin, told Us last month. "They're very up and down, so I just I'll be there at some point in a dress, in sweats — we don't know!"

Muslim communities around the world are celebrating the end of Ramadan this week a "Breaking of the Fast" festival called Eid al-Fitr in Arabic. And while the Kardashian-Jenner-stuffed enclave of Calabasas, California, is hardly a hub of Muslim culture, Kourtney Kardashian looked thrilled to take advantage of the occasion on Tuesday, June 4, to prepare a Moroccan feast for her pal — and her sister, Khloe Kardashian's ex — French Montana, who was born and raised primarily in Morocco. French (born Karim Kharbouch) shared a cute clip from their meal that showed the proud cook up on a chair with a huge smile on her face. "EID MUBARAK WITH MY RATATAA TWIN @kourtneykardash 🤟🏼," he captioned the post, which also showed a deep red, veg-heavy stew on table. ("Eid Mubarak" is a traditional "happy festival" term in Arabic, according to Wikipedia.) On his Instagram Story (via The Blast), French happily zoomed in on the multitude of other yummy looking Moroccan dishes, including a fluffy, 100-layer cake dessert ("100 layers," he says proudly in the clip, "not 99!"). Kourtney and French's seemingly intimate get-together comes just weeks after Kendall Jenner was spotted soaking up the sun in a bikini alongside Kourtney's ex, Luka Sabbat, in Cannes. Given Kourtney's current promotional push for her new lifestyle website, Poosh — which features a whole section on ideas for entertaining — it seems more likely the dinner was a convenient dovetail to her latest business than an actual date. Khloe and French split after less than a year of dating in 2014 and are reportedly still friendly.

Chris stopped by Australia's "The Kyle and Jackie O Show" this week, where he chatted about the movie, which co-stars Tiffany Haddish. "It's an action, comedy, heist kind of vibe," Chris told the radio hosts, according to E! News. "There's some male stripping going on … always healthy," he added. Asked how his wife reacts to the many scenes in which her man appears topless, he admitted with a laugh: "She's just sick of it. She's just like, 'Put your clothes on. It's not nearly as exciting for her at all." On the other hand, E! recalls Elsa once told Women's Health UK how she really feels about being married to, well, Thor. "For me, sexy is the inside of someone," she offered. Then she told the truth: "Of course I think he's beautiful and fit, but I will never tell him that because he will get too, how do you say, 'cocky'?"

When Kit Harington landed the role of Jon Snow a decade ago, he was just 22 and relatively unknown as an actor. Fast forward to 2019 and he's one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, thanks to the success of "Game of Thrones." That change was so consuming and drastic, a source tells People, that hit contributed to some of the anxiety issues he decided to tackle this year by entering a "wellness facility." "Kit has been overstressed for a long time and knows he needs help to temper some of his demons. Kit has seen overwhelming success in his career and was unprepared for it at this level," says the industry insider, who People describes as being "close to the show." "He loves his work, and 'Game of Thrones' has transformed his life and career. To see that come to a climax would be tough for anyone." The source adds: "The role and especially the level of fame he was thrust into was a lot for someone so young and just out of drama school. He took it very seriously, but it was extremely stressful. Ultimately, now that he has that break and has said goodbye to Jon Snow, he needed help to figure things out and be himself — to just be Kit." The star's rep confirmed at the end of May that Kit was getting treatment for "personal issues." Says the People source: "With the proper help, he [will] stay in good mental condition, and can get a grip on what is next."

"Nick, Joe [Jonas], Sophie [Turner], my mom, his parents, everyone was there furiously typing on their phones. They were so mad …," Priyanka recalls. Eventually The Cut apologized and removed the article from its site. Explaining why she responded so differently from everyone else, the actress says she was thinking beyond that one moment in time. "Commenting on some stupidity means it eventually becomes important because I gave it importance …," she says. "A lot of people don't understand that way of thinking. It's not a myopic thought … it's a long-term plan." She also admits she wants to have kids with Nick and it matters what legacy she's leaving them. "I want my existence to have meant something," she says. "I want my kids to turn around and be like, 'Yeah, that was my mom.'"

Chris Evans slams men threatening to hold a 'straight pride' parade in his hometown
As cities across the country prepare to celebrate their LGBQT+ communities at Pride Parades over the coming weekend, three men in Boston are instead pushing the idea of a "straight pride parade." Boston native Chris Evans, for one, is not a fan of the idea. Tweeting a story about the straight pride campaign from the Washington Post on Wednesday, June 5, Chris offered this facetious response: "Wow! Cool initiative, fellas!! Just a thought, instead of 'Straight Pride' parade, how about this: The 'desperately trying to bury our own gay thoughts by being homophobic because no one taught us how to access our emotions as children' parade? Whatta ya think? Too on the nose??" People reports he went on to tweet author James Bell's thoughts on the "straight pride" idea. "Wow, the number gay/straight pride parade false equivalencies are disappointing. For those who don't understand the difference, see below," the writer begins. Weighing back in with his own words, Chris continued: "Instead of going immediately to anger(which is actually just fear of what you don't understand)take a moment to search for empathy and growth." The author whose opinion Chris shared explained his stance further this way: "There's nothing I've ever had to fight for, or struggle against, because I'm straight. And therefore, there isn't any reason to take pride in it. Grateful for the privileges I get? Sure. But pride? I don't see it. What I do see is that this parade is misnamed. It's not a 'Straight Pride Parade.' I should be called a 'I'm a homophobic piece of s—' parade." One of the men aiming to host the "straight pride" events reportedly griped on Facebook that for members of the LGBQT+ community, "everything is based upon identity and whether or not one is categorized as a victim or an oppressor," adding, "If you get victim status then you are entitled to celebrate yourself and expect those with oppressor status to defer to your feelings."
Dave Matthews Band named UN Environment Goodwill Ambassadors on World Environment Day
Thanks to their long-running devotion to sustainable tours and fan-fueled fundraising for environmental causes, the Dave Matthews Band just became the first entire band to be named a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Program. According to a press release from the musicians and REVERB, their nonprofit partner in sustainable touring, Dave and his bandmates have instituted measure including biodiesel trucks and buses, locally sourced catering products and a variety of approaches to recycling, composting and reducing single-use plastic at their shows since 2005. "It's desperate times, and we all need to work together to have hope for the future, hope for our children, and hope for the planet," Dave said at the UN Environment Goodwill Ambassadorship ceremony, according to Billboard. The news comes on Wednesday, June 5, which serves as World Environment Day 2019, with a special focus on air pollution.
Emma Thompson takes a dig at the lack of women in real-life late night TV
Emma Thompson has a bone to pick with whomever decided not to involve a sword in her damehood ceremony, which apparently annoyed her husband. She brought the issue up while chatting with Stephen Colbert on "The Late Show" on Tuesday, June 4, calling the situation "not fair." "If you get a knighthood, your wife or person who lives with you becomes 'Lady So-and-so'," she explained. "But the husband doesn't get anything. So I'm Dame Emma, and he's just plain old Greg Meh-bleh. So he's not pleased. Plus, I wear the badge in bed and it's sharp!" According to JustJared, Emma sparkled later in the show when she teased Stephen about the lack of women hosts in real-life late night TV as opposed to in her new film ,"Late Night." "[My character is] a woman late-night talk show [host], so it's basically science fiction," she declared. "Did you see the way I slipped that in, sneaky little political remark there from Dame Thommo?" Stephen didn't miss a beat, joking: "We don't need politics in late night."
