Why Wells Adams was feelin' the pressure before proposing to Sarah Hyland
In the days leading up to his proposal to Sarah Hyland, Wells Adams was feeling all the anxiety you might expect from a would-be groom-to-be — but not because he was nervous he might say the wrong thing or Sarah might figure out what was up as they headed to the beach together in Fiji. As he told his podcast co-host Brandi Cyrus on this week's "Your Favorite Things," he's actually pretty sure Sarah knew all along he planned to pop the question on their trip. "I think she thought it was happening and then right before we left, I was dressed pretty frumpy," he said, according to E! News. "I was like, 'Is this t-shirt OK?' And she was like, 'You're wearing a t-shirt?' That threw her off a little bit. Listen, Sarah's a smart girl. She knew what was happening." Finally, he lured his girlfriend of nearly two years to a private island and, with the oval cut Lorraine Schwartz ring hidden in his drone and a photographer hiding and waiting to get a shot of the moment, Wells got down on one knee. "All of a sudden, [the photographer] f—ing scurries out from the bushes and he's like, 'Snap, snap, snap, snap, snap!' Sarah is like, 'What is happening!? Then all of a sudden we were in a cool engagement shoot." But even the sudden appearance of the photographer didn't phase Wells. What really stressed him out? The ring. "Guys, for the most part, are not used to having expensive pieces of jewelry around them. So, it freaks us out just in general. Also, for me, we were traveling across the ocean, so that's even more stress of like, 'What happens if someone steals my bag or something?'" he told Brandy on the podcast. Luckily, that didn't happen and Sarah said "yes." "Everyone is like, 'Are you so happy?'" he recalled. "And I was so happy but I'm also so happy I'm not in charge of that very nice ring. There's too much pressure!"

Jennifer Lopez took Alex Rodriguez to a strip club in preparation for 'Hustlers'
It was research, OK?! In preparation for her "Hustlers" role as Ramona, the ringleader of a group of ex-strippers who team up to con wealthy Wall Street types, Jennifer Lopez invited her fiance, Alex Rodriguez, on a fact-finding mission. "She and Alex went and visited a strip club," writer-director Lorene Scafari recently told Vulture with a chuckle, "and she was able to give me some … insights." Lorene added that Jennifer took the role — and the pole-dancing it entailed — very seriously. "She's obviously such an unbelievable dancer, but she trained so hard-core for this," she said. "Pole dancing is not like anything else. It required muscles you don't know you have. So we did treat it a little bit like a sports movie in that way." Speaking to ET, Jennifer admitted in a recent interview that the pole-dancing aspect was "probably one of the most challenging things" she's ever done for a movie. "My arm is still recovering and my back. So yeah, I would say that was the hardest thing I ever did, but it was worth it," she said. "I love this character. I love this story. It's a really gritty New York story [with] women at the forefront … To be able to produce it and star in it was very special." "Hustlers," which also features appearances by Cardi B, Lizzo and Usher, hits theaters Sept. 13.

Joe Jonas gushes about Sophie Turner's Emmy nomination: 'I'm so incredibly proud of you'
For Sophie Turner, 2019 just keeps getting better. In the wake of her recent wedding in France and honeymoon in the Maldives with Joe Jonas, the 23-year-old "Game of Thrones" star earned her first Emmy nomination this week, joining her "GoT" costars Maisie Williams, Lena Headey and Gwendoline Christie in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category. Shortly after the nominations were announced on Tuesday, July 16, Sophie's husband shared a photo of the couple on his Instagram Story, gushing in the caption (via Us Weekly), "Emmy nominated @sophiet. I'm so incredibly proud of you." Sophie, meanwhile, sounded similarly proud of her nominated castmates when she posted about the news, writing, "'Game Of Thrones' has been an incredible journey for me over the past 10 years and I feel hugely honored to have been nominated in such an incredibly strong category and alongside some of my closest friends. I have immense admiration for my fellow nominees." On her Instagram Story, she added: ""I'm beyond humbled. I truly never thought that this would ever happen. This is the best farewell to the show that has been my life for the past 10 years." The decade-spanning show's 32 nominations marks a new record for the most nominations earned in a one year by a drama series, according to CNN.
Is Pharrell collaborating with Rihanna on her new album?
The "Navy," as Rihanna's fans have taken to calling themselves, have one more little morsel of information about the singer's forthcoming ninth studio album. Maybe … Sharing a clip from "Love & Hip Hop Atlanta" that shows Karlie Redd announcing, "it was all a lie," Rihanna wrote, "Nobody: ___ Me: Album coming in 2019 Navy in July: ___," a self-deprecating jab at the fact that said album is probably not coming out this month after all. The singer might not have left her followers high and dry, though. According to People, fans noticed Pharrell Williams responded to the post in the comments by writing, "They ain't ready." A second comment from Pharrell simply showed a globe Emoji. While that doesn't seem like much to go on, fans quickly began to reason Pharrell, who collaborated with Rihanna on the 2017 N.E.R.D. track, "Lemon," may have chimed in because he's producing or appearing on the album. Neither he nor Rihanna have confirmed whether that's the case. The singer's essentially only said the record will have a reggae vibe — and that she's been too swamped with fashion projects to get the thing off the ground. "It's the reason why an album isn't being spat out like it used to," she told Sarah Paulson in last month's edition of "Interview." "I used to be in the studio, only the studio, for three months straight, and an album would come out. Now, it's like a carousel. I do fashion one day, lingerie the next, beauty the next, then music the next. It's like having a bunch of kids and you need to take care of them all," Rihanna said. "It really does suck that it can't just come out, because I'm working on a really fun one right now. I'm really happy with a lot of the material we have so far, but I am not going to put it out until it's complete. It makes no sense to rush it, but I want it out." Rihanna's last album, "Anti," was released back in 2016. The break from recording doesn't seem to have hurt, though. Last month, Forbes named Rihanna the wealthiest female musician in the world.
How Duchess Kate comforted Duchess Meghan after Serena Williams' Wimbledon loss
Here's more cold water to throw on those rumors Duchess Kate and Duchess Meghan don't get along … The sisters-in-law were both seated in the Royals Box at Wimbledon over the weekend during the final match between Meghan's close friend, Serena Williams and her opponent, Simona Halep. When Serena lost to the Romanian star, saying "goodbye" to the possibility of an eighth Wimbledon finals win, Meghan was understandably crushed. "Kate put her hand out and rubbed Meghan's back to console her," a source who was close enough to see the two interact later told People (via JustJared). "[They] were genuine and sweet together."
Sandra Bullock adopts a rescue poodle
Sandra Bullock's family just expanded again. The mother of two, whose dogs Poppy and Ruby died a few days apart last year, has adopted a 2-year-old rescue poodle. Earlier this month, the "Ocean's 8" star and her boyfriend, Bryan Randall, stopped in a Just Food For Dogs store in Los Angeles with the new pooch for "a full consult on what to feed the dog," a source tells Us Weekly. "She was super nice and down-to-earth," said the source. Poppy and Ruby's deaths came just a few weeks after Sandra's father, John W. Bullock died last fall. As she told Ellen DeGeneres in December, the combined losses were harder to handle than she expected. "I was like, 'I'm gonna be fine.' And then a week later, I'm in bathtubs crying and the kids are like, 'Is Mommy OK?'" Sandra admitted, referencing her 9-year-old son, Louis, and 7-year-old daughter, Laila. "Everyone was like, 'Just leave Mommy in the bathtub. She's gonna be fine,'" Sandra continued. "So, you know what? It's life. But, you know, when you lose your little rides-or-die, it makes things different. … Life, I realized, happens whether you schedule it or not. That just blew my mind this year."
Khloe Kardashian wants more kids 'eventually'
Don't be surprised if there's another baby boom on the horizon for the Kardashian-Jenner family. Amid reports Kylie Jenner wants to give her daughter, Stormi, a sibling, a source tells Hollywood Life Khloe Kardashian hopes to do the same for her daughter, True. "Khloe and True have a very tight, unbreakable bond. Being a mother just comes natural to Khloe. Eventually, she'd love to have more, but dating and everything that comes with that is still not on her mind," the insider says. "Khloe spends every day and night with True because she feels it's very important for True to always have a parent around and since [True's dad] Tristan [Thompson] is not around much, she wants to make sure she sees True daily." The source added that Khloe "takes True everywhere with her" and although she has a nanny and an assistant around to pitch in on childcare, "she's extremely hands on and does a lot of things herself." Khloe's been single since she ended her relationship with Tristan after learning he'd cheated on her with family friend, Jordyn Woods. "I'm happy. I don't feel a sense of urgency to be in a relationship or even to go on a date. I don't want to," she recently said, according to the Daily Mail. "I'm not even thinking like that because I'm so in love with True, being with her and enjoying every minute."
Beyonce on the centrality of female characters in the new 'Lion King': 'We're the fighters'
For Beyonce, playing Nala in "The Lion King" was a childhood dream come true. "I am still a bit in shock that I'm a part of this film because I grew up loving 'The Lion King,'" Bey admitted on ABC's "The Lion King: Can You Feel The Love Tonight" special this week (via the Daily Mail). "It's so much nostalgia for me and it's the first Disney movie that brought me to tears," she said, referring to the 1994 blockbuster. By contrast, the 2019 edition will feature some major changes, including the centrality of characters like Nala. "It was important to the director that Nala and that the females in this film were heroes and he put Nala right alongside Simba in the big fight," the singer explained. "I thought that was really interesting and really real, because women, you know, we're the fighters." Ahem. Who run the world?
Joe Manganiello reveals he and Sofia Vergara were nervous about working together
Joe Manganiello is relieved to know he and his wife get along just fine together when they share a set. During a visit to "Good Morning America" on Wednesday, July 17, the "True Blood" alum explained why he had some concerns about Sofia being involved in "Bottom of the 9th," which Joe co-produced with his brother. "She's amazing," he said of Sofia," according to JustJared. "I had the script for years prior than us even going out," Joe recalled. "This was a script and a story that I really wanted to tell so I brought my brother in who is my producing partner and we went about how to put this independent film together." He went on to say neither he nor Sofia was initially that jazzed about collaborating. "My wife and I wound up together but didn't want to work together because we like each other," he said. "We are protective of our private life and so when you work together in this industry, you open your marriage up to certain public scrutiny that we didn't really want to go through. There was a big debate about that but she was having trouble finding a script or movie that she really wanted to do. When I read the script originally, I actually thought of her for it. She really loved it and said 'we will figure it out.' It was a pleasure, it was the best." Looking ahead, Joe said he "would love" to work alongside Sofia again in the future.
