Wendy Williams gets candid about her son's battle with drugs
Drug addictions don't discriminate. That's the message Wendy Williams conveyed in a new interview with ET, where she detailed her own history of substance abuse as well as that of her son, Kevin Hunter Jr. "Our son, three years ago, he's 17 now, he just graduated from high school, he's leaving for college in September, but three years ago he smoked K2," she revealed. "Now this is a drug, we see it on the news, people are walking around like zombies. I was horrified. My son became someone I didn't even know … It zaps your brain immediately." The talk show host, who went on hiatus earlier this year because of her Grave's Disease, went on to point out that anyone can get hooked. "Drugs have no income; drugs have no race or religion. Drugs are drugs and that K2 was really something else and you know I'm glad to say we were able to bring him back all the way around," she said. Wendy herself, meanwhile, struggled with cocaine abuse for a decade. "I was a functioning addict though," she said. "I report to work on time, and I'd walk in and all my co-workers, including my bosses, would know, but since I would have my headphones on and walk in the studio and [they] wouldn't fire me because I was making ratings."

Chris Cornell statue to be erected in Seattle
Chris Cornell would have turned 54 on Friday, July 20. Ben Stiller urges celebs to 'stand in solidarity with refugees'
Ben Stiller issued a plea to the entertainment community this week to use their leverage in the interest of helping refugees. The actor was recently named a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador and wrote a piece for THR about his experience visiting refugees in Guatemala, of whom he noted, "Few feel able to tell their story without immense fear." Explaining the plight of refugees in northern Central America, Ben writes: "In this specific region, across countries like Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala, people are fleeing unchecked violence and persecution at the hands of gangs. Shockingly, over half are children who have been subject to abuse, sexual trafficking and forced recruitment by gangs. Many have been separated from their families as a result of deportations in the United States and Mexico." Among the people he met on his trip were children living in a shelter. Their backstories ranged from abuse to rape to separation from their parents. "They were all dealing with more than most of us can imagine, but their nature and human spirit matched that which any of us had as kids. It was an amazing experience. They shared dreams of their future and the pride of their newfound family: each other," Ben writes. "I left energized, deeply moved and hugely motivated to share this experience, this true goodwill, with the world." He adds: "So here I am as an unabashed UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador believing we all need to do more. We need to do more to stand in solidarity with refugees like those I met. To protect them and support them."
Sarah Jessica Parker files countersuit against jewelry company
Sarah Jessica Parker is fighting back against a jewelry company's claim she did not fulfill the terms of a contract she had with them. The New York Post reports SJP recently filed a countersuit against Kat Florence Design, which the actress says failed to make all the payments it owed her after she promoted and helped select their pieces per their initial deal. In the company's initial lawsuit, which it filed in April, it had claimed she bailed on some of the services she'd agreed to provide. In Sarah Jessica's lawsuit, however, she says the brand "abruptly" stopped paying her then told her, "its failure to pay was due to the addition of new investors who directed the company to suspend payments." When she balked at that, she says, "KFD began to insist that Ms. Parker perform additional services that were not part of the agreement and indicated it was unwilling to continue the relationship unless she performed these additional services," according to the Post. In a statement, the company denied "any alleged breach of the endorsement agreement as Ms. Parker and her company, Tandu productions, failed to adhere to her obligations under the contract."
