2018 CMA Awards fashion hits and misses

The best and brightest in the biz were recognized for their recent hits at the 2018 Country Music Association Awards on Nov. 14, but what about their style? Wonderwall.com couldn't resist shining a different light on the best and worst dressed of the night, starting with Kelsea Ballerini. The "I Hate Love Songs" singer, sporting a sleek new lob haircut, looked fiercely feminine in a neon pink Zac Posen gown with structured pointed shoulders and a dainty train. Playing with so much hot pink can be risky, but Kelsea Ballerini chose the perfect variety of similarly hued accessories to blend with her bright color scheme. She sported a trendy translucent box clutch and added in an array of eclectic rings, including a magenta sparkler on her pinky finger by JN Jewels.

Cradling her baby bump, Carrie Underwood absolutely glowed in a body-hugging Uel Camilo gown on the red carpet at the 2018 CMA Awards. Carrie Underwood paired her floral gown with a matching two-finger ring by Anabela Chan. The pink and purple gemstones seamlessly tied into her glimmering pastel ensemble and complemented the delicate crystals embroidered within the pattern.

Kellie Pickler was aiming to be the belle of the 2018 CMA Awards in a jewel-toned yellow mermaid gown by Anne Barge. While the country cutie scored points for rocking a glam one-shoulder silhouette, she ultimately lost out on her color and fabric choice. Kellie Pickler's gown may have fallen flat, but she knocked the rest of her look out of the park! She was the epitome of Old Hollywood glam with a wavy blonde bob and bold red lip. Not to mention dazzling starburst danglers that had us seething in diamond envy.

Jason Aldean's pregnant wife, Brittany Kerr, pulled off a similar shade of yellow for the 2018 CMA Awards. She oozed glamour in a long-sleeved mermaid gown with a high neckline, structured shoulder pads and gathered criss-crossed fabric accentuating her bump. Her hubby put a trendy spin on classic country look with a black velvet jacket and a cowboy hat with a studded brim. Talk about a power couple!

Kasey Musgraves had fun with menswear for the 2018 CMA Awards. The "Follow Your Arrow" singer rocked a black Versace jumpsuit with a solid trouser bottom and a sheer top, which featured a plunging keyhole neckline and gold beaded fringe. Now you see me, now you don't! Kacey Musgraves played peek-a-boo with a matching black bolero jacket that covered up her revealing jumpsuit.

Cassadee Pope's attempt at fusing edgy cool with glam wasn't as successful. The "Take You Home" songstress donned a disproportionate black and blue frock with a wide plunging V-neckline and an oddly long high-low hemline. Beyond the strange shape of her dress, we felt a bit dizzy looking at a mix of feathery fringe on her checked top, sea of sequins on her skirt and strappy spiked heels. With an already dark ensemble, Cassadee Pope's overly smoky eye was overwhelming. She tried to incorporate hints of ice blue into her makeup look, but the black shadow on her upper and lower lids overpowered everything else.

Olivia Culpo seriously sexed up the 2018 CMA Awards in a scandalous black Aadnevik dress — if you can even call it a dress! She sizzled in the shear beaded frock with a corset top and daringly high front slit. The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue model kicked her smolder factor up another notch with an intense cat eye, which wasn't too smokey.

Jennifer Nettles ran the risk of looking somewhat like an emu with her feathery Uel Camilo gown at the 2018 CMA Awards, but actually came out a style star. She dazzled in a long-sleeved sheer gown covered in beaded crystal sunbursts and patches of airy white feathers. She tied her hair up in a top knot, allowing her unique dress to do all the talking.

Maren Morris wore a gold beaded Julien Macdonald gown with bell sleeves and sheer cutouts for the 2018 CMA Awards. We would have loved this look on the "The Middle" singer if it had fit her frame better, but it seemed loose in all the wrong places.

Luke Bryan looked like a totally dashing gentleman at the 2018 CMA Awards. The "Most People Are Good" singer wore a classic black Tom Ford suit with a light pink tie. We would definitely shake it for this handsome country boy!

Scott McCreery went the opposite extreme of classic with an ultra-glitzy jacket for the 2018 CMA Awards. While we appreciate his attempt at a jazzy red carpet ensemble, that's just too many rhinestones for one suit. We also wonder how heavy it was?

Scotty McCreery's "American Idol" pal, Lauren Alaina, got the hint when it came to rhinestone subtly. She stunned in a pale blue Randi Rahm gown at the 2018 CMA Awards. Lauren Alaina toted a reflective silver clutch in the shape of a half circle. Also notice the exquisite detail work on her dress with those crystal and tulle flowers.

Hillary Scott jazzed up a classic black dress for the 2018 CMA Awards. The Lady Antebellum singer wore a curve-hugging LBD with sheer long sleeves, a high neck and fringed shoulder pads. She added an elegant touch of flair with red and gold-accented peep-toe pumps. Hot mama!

Martina McBride was black-tie ready for the 2018 CMA Awards. The country legend donned a formal Monique Lhuillier mermaid gown bursting with tulle at the bottom. There was no going wrong with the intricate beadwork on Danielle Bradbery's fully embroidered backless gown. She wore a nude and silver Jovani number dripping with fringe from the shoulders for the 2018 CMA Awards.

Kimberly Williams-Paisley looked angelic in a pearl Romona Keveža gown at the 2018 CMA Awards. We especially love the angular boat-neck bodice and fluted train on her gown, which made her stand out from the rest of the basic red carpet crowd. Not to mention the dress also fit her body like a glove.

There is no telling what could have possessed RaeLynn to slip on this flouncy disaster for the 2018 CMA Awards. She wore a black gown with one of the largest singular ruffles that we've ever seen on one woman's dress. The only thing that comes to mind are oysters on the half shell!

From a distance, Bebe Rexha's black and gold sequined gown appeared to be fun and glam, but upon closer inspection, it was actually quite confusing. The "Meant To Be" songstress had a random black ruffle on one shoulder strap, another placed on the hip, a barrage of gemstones down her bust and zippers at the waistline. Unfortunately, her Coach 1941 number at the 2018 CMA Awards turned out to be a total Monet.
