Baby bliss

Welcome to motherhood, Amy Schumer! The actress and her husband, chef Chris Fischer, welcomed a baby boy on May 5. Amy announced the news on Instagram while referencing the other big birth news of the week. "10:55 pm last night. Our royal baby was born," she wrote on May 6 alongside an image debuting her son, Gene Attell Fischer. Just before announcing the birth, the comedian posted a series of images from the site of the famed Met Gala, which took place on May 6. "Met look this year," she joked while wearing casual maternity clothes. "Last night on the way to the hospital."

A funeral and a looming court battle

On May 6, legendary director John Singleton was laid to rest in Los Angeles in a private funeral. Attendees included Taraji P. Henson, Ludacris, Ice Cube, Tyrese, Nia Long and others. John died on April 28 following a stroke. A day after the funeral, a report emerged claiming that John's children plan to go to court over his will and estate, which is reportedly worth $35 million. John's mother, Sheila, reportedly filed his will in court, but the children's argument will be simple — the will is outdated, as it was drafted and signed in 1993 when the famed director only had one child, Justice. He was a father of seven when he passed away.

Baby boy joy

There's a new royal in the world! On May 6, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan welcomed a little prince. "We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses' son weighs 7lbs. 3oz," their @SussexRoyal Instagram announced. The newborn is now seventh in line to the British throne. Harry gave one media interview hours after the birth and gushed, "This little baby is absolutely to die for. I'm just over the moon," he said. "It's been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined. How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension." The couple showed off the baby for the first time on May 8 at Windsor Castle and hours later announced his name: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. The palace confirmed that the couple has elected to forgo any royal titles for their son.

MTV exit

One door closes, another door opens. On May 7, MTV and the "Teen Mom" franchise announced that they had severed ties with Jenelle Evans after her husband, David Eason, shot and killed their family dog. "We have stopped filming with Jenelle Eason as of April 6, 2019 and have no plans to cover her story in the upcoming season," a rep said. David, you'll recall, had previously been fired from MTV in 2018 after he made homophobic comments on social media. Jenelle was (key word: was) reportedly making a six-figure paycheck for "Teen Mom 2." Reports soon emerged claiming that other franchises were hoping to work with the couple. On May 8, it was reported that Jenelle and David were in talks to participate in "Marriage Boot Camp," but the show denied it, as did Jenelle. TMZ reported that Jenelle was also meeting with producers of other shows.

Restraining order granted

A judge granted Britney Spears' request for a restraining order against former manager Sam Lutfi on May 8. He must now stay 200 yards away from the singer, her family and her boyfriend, and he's prohibited from making disparaging statements about Britney. In court documents, Britney and her team argued that Sam has been texting Britney's mother, Lynne Spears, and posting "disparaging and threatening comments" on social media. Sam, however, claims he hasn't been in contact with Britney in 10 years. He did admit to contacting Lynne through phone calls and "non-confrontational" texts, TMZ reported. Sam also said he offered Lynne financial assistance if she decided she wanted to challenge Britney's conservatorship in court, but denied allegations that he tried to bribe her.

Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Met Gala

"Four" the win! Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are now parents to four children, having welcomed their latest child via a surrogate. On May 10, Kim tweeted that their son had arrived, writing, "He's here and he's perfect!" The couple used a different surrogate than the woman they used when welcoming their daughter Chicago last year. News of the birth was expected after Kim's sister Kourtney Kardashian told Ellen DeGeneres on May 9 that Kim's surrogate had gone into labor.

Engaged

Hilary Duff and Matthew Koma are engaged. The "Younger" actress announced the news on Instagram on May 9. "He asked me to be his wife," she captioned a photo slideshow showing off her new ring. The musician-producer posted the same images, writing, "I asked my best friend to marry me." The duo shares daughter Banks Violet Blair, who was born last October. Experts have estimated that Hilary's diamond ring is 3 carats and worth about $50,000.

Facing the judge

"The Real Housewives of New York" star Luann de Lesseps will have to answer to a judge after admitting to violating her probation earlier this year. This all stems from the reality TV star's plea deal from her drunken Christmas Eve 2017 arrest in Florida. As part of the deal, Luann avoided jail time but had to agree to, among other things, avoid alcohol for 12 months. However, court documents recently obtained by Page Six show that Luann has consumed alcohol several times since making the deal. The Florida Department of Corrections said in court docs that "per her New York Probation Officer, [she had] an alcohol test conducted on 04/21/2019. [She] admitted to drinking 2 glasses of mimosas after a performance she had in Chicago." As a result, Luann is now due in court on May 23 for a probation violation hearing, TMZ reported on May 7. Luann's probation officer has argued that she's not taking her probation seriously.

Public debut

Finally! More than five and a half years after they were first romantically linked, Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx have publicly acknowledged that they are a couple. The duo made their public debut at the Met Gala on May 6 where Katie donned a purple Zac Posen gown and Jamie wore a black tuxedo with purple shoes to match his girlfriend's dress. Though the duo has occasionally been photographed together over the years, including during a PDA-filled day on the beach last summer, they've refused to acknowledge that they're dating. A source told E! News that Katie and Jamie are now "feeling more comfortable about being out in public together and not having to hide." The source continued, "They still don't want to have a public relationship, but it was a lot of effort to keep things under wraps and never be able to go out together. The burden of that has been lifted and they are feeling a lot more free to just go out and do normal things."

Drive-by shooting

Cardi B's husband, Migos rapper Offset, was unharmed after the Atlanta recording studio he was visiting on May 8 was fired upon during a drive-by shooting. It's not known if Offset was the target of the shooting, but at least one witness suspects he was, as Offset was standing in front of the building before the shooting began. "When the gunshots rang out, we're told people inside the studio rushed into another room for cover until things calmed down," TMZ reported. Offset had left the studio by the time police arrived. Authorities are said to be reviewing surveillance footage that apparently shows a vehicle driving down the street after the bullets stopped flying.

Roller coaster week

Busy Phillips had an emotional week. First, on May 5, the actress announced that her E! talk show, "Busy Tonight," has been canceled. "Just wanted to let you know my show Busy Tonight won't be continuing on the E network after May 16," she wrote on Twitter. "I'm beyond proud of what we've built in such a short period of time and I'm hopeful we can find the right place for the show to live on." The next day, Busy found out she was nominated for a Critics' Choice Real TV Award for best show host. Then, on May 7, in the wake of Georgia's controversial new abortion law, Busy opened up about getting an abortion at 15. "Women and their doctors are in the best position to make informed decisions about what is best for them," she said on her show as the audience cheered. "Nobody else. Nobody." She later added on Twitter, "I spoke about my abortion on my show tonight because I can not sit idly by while women's rights are stripped away."
