Prison inmate
Say hello to inmate 77806-112… otherwise known as Felicity Huffman. On Oct. 15, the actress turned herself in to begin serving a 14-day sentence for her role in a college admissions cheating scandal. She's serving her time in the Federal Correctional Institution near Oakland, California. Prison records show that she'll be released on Oct. 27. "Ms. Huffman is prepared to serve the term of imprisonment Judge Talwani ordered as one part of the punishment she imposed for Ms. Huffman's actions," the "Desperate Housewives" star's representative said in a prepared statement. "She will begin serving the remainder of the sentence Judge Talwani imposed — one year of supervised release, with conditions including 250 hours of community service — when she is released." Felicity pleaded guilty in her case, admitting she paid a fixer to bribe a proctor to boost her daughter's SAT scores in order to help her get into a desirable college.

Lawsuit
Todd Chrisley and wife Julie have filed a lawsuit against a Georgia tax official, claiming that the tax man began a relationship with Todd's estranged daughter, Lindsie Chrisley, to get dirt on the reality TV family. In the lawsuit, Todd said Joshua Waites, the director of the Georgia Department of Revenue's Office of Special Investigation, was part of an effort to "aggressively pursue and prosecute bogus tax evasion claims against the Chrisleys." Todd and Julie say Josh abused his power to violate federal and state law. In the lawsuit, the family patriarch shares several alleged texts between the tax official and Lindsie, one of which says, "So. Some stuff happened today. And we have a meeting the first of the year that is super big. And is all about Todd. Like serious. So. I want to know if you would be willing to talk about him or her." Lindsie claimed she only spoke to Josh to protect her child. In fact, she said she's never even met Josh.

Insta-girl
Jennifer Aniston is getting social. On Oct. 15, the actress finally joined Instagram — then literally broke the platform. After the actress made her debut, the social media platform temporarily crashed. For a while, users were getting a "Sorry, this page isn't available" message. However, things were eventually fixed and all was right in the world. As for her first post, well, it was epic. Jen shared a selfie with her "Friends" co-stars — all of them! The picture seemingly came from a recent dinner they had. "And now we're Instagram FRIENDS too. HI INSTAGRAM," she captioned the selfie along with a waving hand emoji. Jen got more than 8 million followers within a day and set a Guinness World Record for reaching a million followers on the platform faster than anyone (she hit the mark in just five hours and 16 minutes). She's following a handful of friends, including ex-husband Justin Theroux. "Woot-Woot [raised hand emoji] [heart emoji]," Justin commented on Jen's post, adding the hashtag #first.

Court appearance
Cuba Gooding Jr. pleaded not guilty on Oct. 15 to four misdemeanor counts related to two allegations of sexual misconduct in New York. The Oscar-winning actor was already facing a charge of forcible touching for an alleged incident over the summer. But in a new indictment unveiled on Oct. 15, a second woman claimed Cuba pinched her buttocks without her consent and also made sexually suggestive remarks to her at a nightclub in 2018. He denied the accusation. The new indictment includes 12 allegations for which Cuba is not being charged. Prosecutors said the allegations were included to show a pattern of behavior. Cuba's attorney is confident the actor will be exonerated.
Baby confirmation
Ryan Reynolds confirmed that he and Blake Lively have welcomed a baby girl. On Oct. 16, the actor posted a photo of himself and Blake cuddling up to their little one in British Columbia, Canada. "I love B.C.," he tweeted, while urging people to vote . "I want my daughters to experience the same natural playground I grew up in. On Oct. 21, the candidate you vote for will SHAPE CLIMATE POLICY. I'm proud of the climate progress made the last 4 years. Click http://Elections.ca for voting info. #Capilano." In the snap, Ryan donned a baby carrier, but their little one's face was covered up with a drawn-on smiley face. Earlier this month, multiple media outlets reported that the couple had welcomed their third child a few months earlier, but little else was known at the time, including the gender or name.
Surgery (thanks, sea urchin!)
Neil Patrick Harris had surgery on his hand on Oct. 15 after falling onto a sea urchin spine. The actor posted several images to Instagram from the hospital and afterward, one that showed his hand in a foam contraption. "Had surgery today. I tripped and hand planted onto a sea urchin almost two months ago while climbing rocky cliffs in Croatia," he said on Instagram. "Most of the tiny spines I dug out myself, but two refused to leave and one got infected. Turns out it pierced through a tendon." After surgery, NPH said he's now "officially urchin free and on the mend." The only drawback, he said, was "having to wear this massive hand elevating contraption for the foreseeable future…. All in all, though, I have to say: uni is still delicious." His friends had fun with the story. Breckin Meyer commented. "I spoke to the Urchin… he has a very different version."
Airplane incident in Pakistan
Talk about scary! Prince William and Kate Middleton's Royal Air Force plane was forced to make an emergency landing on Oct. 17 after it flew into a terrifying electrical storm while trying to land in Islamabad, Pakistan. According to reports, the pilot tried to land at two different airports, but those attempts had to be aborted. The plane — which was also carrying members of the British media who were covering the couple's five-day royal tour of Pakistan — had to turn back to Lahore, where the flight had originated. Due to the weather, the plane was in the air for more than two hours, despite it typically being only a 25-minute journey. After the plane touched down, reporters said William — a trained military pilot — had come to the back of the plane to joke with them, claiming "I was flying!"
Accident
Helen Hunt was briefly hospitalized after she was involved in a scary rollover car crash in Los Angeles. The actress was riding in an SUV when the driver passed through an intersection and was clipped by another vehicle, flipping the SUV on its side. Helen's rep said the actress was shaken but suffered no major injuries. She was released from the hospital after a short stay.
Splitsville
Say it ain't so. Odette Annable and Dave Annable have split after nine years of marriage. The actors share 4-year-old daughter Charlie Mae. "It's with heavy hearts that we have come to the mutual decision to separate at this time," the couple said in a statement. "Our daughter is our primary concern and we remain committed to co-parenting her together. We ask that you please respect our family's privacy at this time." Dave no longer follows Odette on Instagram.
Apology
It took Gina Rodriguez not one but two times to get it right. Early in the week, the actress said the N-word on Instagram while singing along to a Fugees song. She even giggled after uttering the verse. Fans weren't having it, so Gina deleted the video and made an attempt at an apology. "I just wanted to reach out and apologize. I am sorry," she explained on social media on Oct. 15. "I am sorry if I offended anyone. My singing along to the Fugees, to a song I love that I grew up on, I love Lauryn Hill. And, um, I really am sorry if I offended you." Fans weren't moved by her somewhat passive-aggressive apology, so she issued another one later that day. "The word I sang, carries with it a legacy of hurt and pain that I cannot even imagine. Whatever consequences I face for my action today, none will be more hurtful than the personal remorse I feel," she wrote in a Notes app statement, adding that the "lesson" she's learned is "humiliating." "I feel so deeply protective and responsible to the community of color, but I have let this community down. I have some serious learning and growing to do and I am so deeply sorry for the pain I have caused."
