The British royal family is known for the pageantry of their weddings and the spectacle of their birth announcements, but there are other royal events that are just as awe-inspiring, such as the annual Trooping the Colour. The ceremony dates back to the time of King Charles II in the 17th century and is the official birthday celebration of the British sovereign. Of course in 2020, things looked a little different due to the coronavirus pandemic: Instead of a grand parade in London, a military fly-over and photos of the royal family gathered on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to mark the monarch's 94th birthday in 2020, Queen Elizabeth II celebrated with a scaled back, socially distanced ceremony on June 13 featuring royal salutes from the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards in the quadrangle at Windsor Castle, where she's been quarantining during the global health crisis. To celebrate the occasion, Wonderwall.com is taking a look at a few photos from this year's event — a delighted Elizabeth is seen here taking it all in on June 13, 2020 — as well as looking back at previous Trooping the Colours through the decades…
