Derick Dillard shares more controversial thoughts on transgender people
Derick Dillard found himself mired in criticism for his views on the transgender community again this week after he tweeted a quote from Janice Raymond, a radical feminist known in large part for making statements that have been blasted as transphobic. "No one — women, men, children or transgender persons — should be subjected to any form of exploitation or targeted for discrimination," the quote begins. "Transsexual and transgendered persons are entitled to the same human and civil rights as others. Recognizing these rights, however, does not mean that we must accept that hormones and surgery transform men into women and women into men … Or that persons who self-identify as members of the opposite sex, are what they subjectively claim to be. — Janice Raymond." Derick wrote "I agree with Janice Raymond on this," above the quote, inciting the wrath of commenters who found his previous statements about Jazz Jennings, a teenage, trans reality star, offensive. "And yet you felt the need to cyber bully Jazz, instead of just silently judging her," wrote one commenter. Chimed in another: "Some subjects are too sensitive and nuanced for twittering about like a bird brain. Get into face-to-face dialog with LGBTQ people." In August, Derick faced a large backlash online after tweeting, "What an oxymoron… a 'reality' show which follows a non-reality," of Jazz' show. He added, "'Transgender' is a myth. Gender is not fluid; it's ordained by God."

Donald Trump calls sexual assault allegations 'fake news'
As women across the country continue posting "#metoo" on social media in a move to create awareness about their experiences being sexually assaulted and harassed, Donald Trump is denying claims from Summer Zervos, one of the women who have accused him of making unwanted sexual advances. "All I can say is it's totally fake news," he told a reporter at a press conference on Monday, Oct. 16, according to US Weekly. "It's fake and made-up stuff and it's disgraceful what happens, but that happens in the world of politics." Summer recently had her lawyer subpoena the Donald Trump campaign for documents and communications related to her as well as to accusations made by "any woman alleging that Donald J. Trump touched her inappropriately" during his campaign. The subpoena includes nine other women in addition to Summer, a former contestant on "The Apprentice," who accused him of sexual misconduct. The president has previously denied Summer's allegation that he kissed her repeatedly on the list, touched her chest and pushed himself up against her despite her protests, as well as similar allegations from other women.

"That big old dinosaur of people who think a man is able to get away with that behavior and has been getting away with it for years is extinct, as of now," she said during a Q&A at a Women in Hollywood lunch in Cannes, France, according to the New York Post. "It's hard to think that in 2017 we are still talking about this and that it's the lead story on international news," Catherine said, after telling the interviewer she was "shocked and disgusted" by the stories that have come. "You're never too big to fail," she continued. "I really believe that if this is not the tipping point, it's at least some kind of turning point."
