Tom Hanks starred as Forrest Gump, an Alabama native with a low IQ who becomes a star football player, a war hero, an international ping pong champion and a shrimping entrepreneur.
Tom Hanks won his second consecutive Oscar for best lead actor for his performance in "Forrest Gump." (He won the previous year for his work in "Philadelphia.")
