'Jumanji' original cast: Where are they now?

"Jumanji" is one of the best kids movies of the 1990s. Millennials everywhere remember the crazy monkeys, quicksand floors and carnivorous plants and now, 22 years later, the film has been remade with a whole new cast and storyline. In honor of the Dec. 20, 2017, release of "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle," Wonderwall.com is taking a look at what the stars of the original "Jumanji" movie are up to today! A 12-year-old Kirsten Dunst was cast to play Judy Shepherd, a young girl who finds and begins playing an old Jumanji board game, in "Jumanji."

Kirsten Dunst successfully made the jump from child star to adult actress. After "Jumanji," Kirsten was cast in a series of hit teen movies including "Small Soldiers" in 1998, "The Virgin Suicides" in 1999, "Bring It On" in 2000 and "Get Over It" and "Crazy/Beautiful" in 2001. She was then cast as Mary Jane Watson in the original "Spider-Man" trilogy, solidifying her status as a member of Hollywood's elite. The blonde bombshell went on to star in "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," "Marie Antoinette," "Hidden Figures" and "Fargo," the last of which earned her Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. Following high-profile romances with Jake Gyllenhaal, Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell and Garrett Hedlund, Kirsten is now happily engaged to "Fargo" co-star Jesse Plemons. In December 2017, it was reported that she was pregnant with their first child.

Robin Williams took on the role of Alan Parrish, a man trapped in the Jumanji game for 26 years before he was released by two children, in 1995's "Jumanji."

Hollywood icon Robin Williams continued to achieve box office success after the release of "Jumanji." The "Aladdin" actor went on to star in "The Birdcage," "One Hour Photo," "World's Greatest Dad," "Night at the Museum," "The Crazy Ones" and a host of other films and shows throughout the '90s, 2000s and 2010s. Robin also won the 1997 Academy Award for best supporting actor for his performance as psychology teacher Sean Maguire in "Good Will Hunting." But while his career was flourishing, Robin himself was struggling. Fans worldwide were left shocked and heartbroken when the beloved comedian committed suicide in August 2014 at the age of 63. Following his tragic death, his family revealed he'd been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease a few months earlier and that an autopsy discovered the comedy legend had in fact been suffering from an unusually severe case of Lewy body dementia.

Bradley Pierce played Peter Shepherd, Judy's younger brother who finds the Jumanji game and releases Alan Parrish, in 1995's "Jumanji."

After the release of "Jumanji," Bradley Pierce found success as a voiceover actor with numerous roles in television, movies and video games. Bradley — who voiced Flounder in "The Little Mermaid" and Chip in "Beauty and the Beast" — starred in the 1997 film "The Borrowers" with John Goodman. He also voiced the character Tails in the '90s Saturday morning cartoon series "Sonic the Hedgehog." Outside of acting and producing, Bradley is the co-founder of Pierce & Luna, a cocktail community geared toward bartending education and liquor reviews.

Bonnie Hunt has had a long and successful career in Hollywood since 1995. The actress starred in "Beethoven" and "Beethoven's 2nd" as well as "Cheaper by the Dozen" and "Cheaper by the Dozen 2." She also received accolades portraying the sister of Renee Zellweger's character in "Jerry Maguire" and Jan Edgecomb in "The Green Mile." Bonnie has also lent her voice to six Pixar films: She was Rosie in "A Bug's Life," Ms. Flint in "Monsters Inc.," Sally Carrera in "Cars" (and its two sequels), Dolly in "Toy Story 3" and Karen Graves in "Monsters University."

Bebe Neuwirth played Nora Shepherd, Judy and Peter's aunt who's tasked with raising them after the death of their parents, in 1995's "Jumanji."

Bebe Neuwirth has built a stellar career since the release of "Jumanji." The Juilliard graduate is best known for her role as Dr. Lilith Sternin, Dr. Frasier Crane's ex wife on the "Cheers" spin-off "Frasier." She earned two Emmy Awards for her portrayal in 1990 and 1991. Bebe also established herself as a top-notch Broadway actress: She was the original Velma Kelly in the 1996 revival of "Chicago" and played Morticia Addams in "The Addams Family" in 2010. Most recently, she played Nadine Tolliver on the CBS drama "Madam Secretary" from 2014 to 2017. Bebe's been married to director Chris Calkins since 2009.

David Alan Grier, pictured here with Bebe Neuwirth, portrayed Carl Bentley, an employee at Sam's shoe factory and Alan's oldest friend who later became a police officer, in "Jumanji."

Actor and comedian David Alan Grier had a thriving career in Hollywood and in the theater world after "Jumanji" was released. The Detroit native found fame while performing on the sketch comedy show "In Living Color" in the 1990s before starring in "Dance Flick," "Chocolate News" and "Life With Bonnie" with "Jumanji" co-star Bonnie Hunt. David most recently starred as the Cowardly Lion in the critically acclaimed TV musical "The Wiz" on NBC in 2015. He became a first-time father while in his 50s when second wife Christine Y. Kim, a museum curator, gave birth to daughter Luisa in 2008.

Jonathan Hyde portrayed two characters in "Jumanji" — Samuel "Sam" Parrish, Alan's father, and John Hardin Van Pelt, a big-game hunter from the board game who tries to hunt Alan.

Actor Jonathan Hyde has built quite the career since his "Jumanji" days. He starred as businessman J. Bruce Ismay in everyone's favorite tragic romantic drama, "Titanic," in 1997, as Culverton Smith in "The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes" in 1994, as Warren Westridge in "Anaconda" in 1997 and most recently as Eldritch Palmer on the FX series "The Strain" from 2014 to 2017. Jonathan is married to Scottish soprano Isobel Buchanan. The couple have two daughters, one of whom is "Vice Principals" actress Georgia King.
