This isn't the first time that Irish-American actress Saoirse Ronan — who's known for her work in "Mary Queen of Scots" and "Brooklyn" — has worked with director Greta Gerwig. Greta wrote and directed 2017's coming-of-age film "Lady Bird," in which Saoirse played the titular character (then earned a best actress Oscar nomination for her performance). Laura Dern stars in 2019's "Little Women" as loving matriarch Marmee March.
Laura Dern, who made her film debut in 1973's "White Lightning," has been a screen-stealer from an early age and has never stopped working. In 2019, Laura also appeared in "Cold Pursuit" and Netflix's "Marriage Story" in addition to reprising her role as Renata Klein on the second season of HBO's "Big Little Lies." Her stellar performances through the years have landed her four Golden Globe Awards, one Primetime Emmy Award and two Academy Award nominations.
Emma Watson stars as Meg March, the elegant eldest sister, in 2019's "Little Women."
Emma Watson rose to fame alongside fellow British actors Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint in the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." The first film in the franchise hit theaters in 2001, marking Emma's debut on-screen performance. At just 11, her portrayal of witch Hermione Granger also landed her a Young Artist Award for best leading young actress. Emma has appeared in many hit films over the years including "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," "The Bling Ring" and the live-action adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast."
Timothée Chalamet plays wealthy boy-next-door and hopeless romantic Theodore "Laurie" Laurence in 2019's "Little Women."
Timothée Chalamet made his feature film debut in 2014's "Men, Women & Children," in which he played Danny Vance. Later that year, the young actor also played young Tom Cooper in Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar." In what is widely considered his breakout role, Timothée starred alongside Armie Hammer in Luca Guadagnino's "Call Me By Your Name" — the 2017 drama about a teen who falls in love with a university student in Italy in the summer of 1983. Timothée's portrayal of 17-year-old protagonist Elio Perlman earned him a best actor Oscar nomination, making him the third-youngest person in history to ever be nominated in that category. Timothée previously worked with "Little Women" co-star Saoirse Ronan and director Greta Gerwig in 2017's "Lady Bird."
Florence Pugh stars as Amy March, the youngest March sister.
English actress Florence Pugh's breakout role in 2019's "Fighting with My Family," a dramedy about the come up of professional wrestler Paige, is what launched her into the Hollywood spotlight. Starring alongside WWE alum Dwayne Johnson and "Game of Thrones" star Lena Headey, Florence received critical acclaim for her portrayal, with The Independent calling her "completely convincing as a wrestler." That same year, Florence landed the lead role in Ari Aster's horror flick "Midsommar," which is about a struggling young couple who find themselves amidst a group of Swedish cultists. In 2020, Florence will play Yelena Belova in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film "Black Widow."
Eliza Scanlen stars as shy and kindhearted sister Beth March.
Eliza Scanlen came onto the scene after landing the role of Amma Crellin in the HBO miniseries "Sharp Objects," in which she starred alongside Amy Adams. She made her feature film debut in 2019's "Babyteeth," which tells the story of two parents who discover that their sickly teenage daughter (played by Eliza) has fallen in love with a drug dealer. In 2020, Eliza will appear alongside Tom Holland in "The Devil All the Time."
Meryl Streep stars as the sisters' wealthy Aunt March in 2019's "Little Women."
Often referred to as the best actresses of her generation, Meryl Streep is an iconic figure in Hollywood. Meryl holds the record for the most Academy Award nominations of any performer — seventeen for best actress and four for best supporting actress. She's won best actress Oscars for her work in 1983's "Sophie's Choice" and 2012's "The Iron Lady" and best supporting actress for her performance in 1980's "Kramer vs. Kramer." Her forthcoming projects include "Let Them All Talk, "The Prom" and an untitled Martin Scorsese project.
Bob Odenkirk plays Mr. March, the thoughtful father of the March daughters. Bob is perhaps best known for his role as Saul Goodman on AMC's "Breaking Bad" and its spinoff, "Better Call Saul," though he's also enjoyed acclaim for his work on the sketch-comedy series "Mr. Show" and in films including "The Post," "Fargo" and "Nebraska." As a writer for "Saturday Night Live" and "The Ben Stiller Show," Bob earned himself Primetime Emmy Awards for best writing for a variety series in 1989 and 1993, respectively.
James Norton plays hardworking orphan John Brooke. This English actor is best known for his work in British television projects including "McMafia," "War & Peace," "Grantchester," and "Happy Valley." In 2015, his portrayal of Tommy Lee Royce on "Happy Valley" garnered him a best supporting actor nod at the British Academy Television Awards. In 2020, you can catch James starring alongside Amanda Seyfried and Natalia Dyer in Shari Springer's "Things Heard and Seen."
Tracy Letts plays Mr. Dashwood in 'Little Women." Tracy is a Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning actor, playwright and screenwriter. In 2013, he received a Tony for best leading actor in a play for his work in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" and in 2008, he received the Pulitzer Prize for drama for his play "August: Osage County." Tracy has appeared in a variety of films and television series including "Lady Bird, "The Post" and "Homeland."
Chris Cooper plays Mr. Laurence, Laurie's grandfather in "Little Women." Chris is known for his supporting roles in films like 1999's "American Beauty," 2002's "The Bourne Identity" and 2010's "The Town." He also won both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for best supporting actor for his performance in 2002's "Adaptation," which was written by Spike Jonze and directed by Charlie Kaufman.
Jayne Houdyshell plays Hannah in "Little Women." Jayne is a Tony Award-winning actress who's appeared in both musicals and plays alike including "Well," "Follies," "The Humans" and "A Doll's House, Part 2." She's also made appearances in films like "Changing Lanes," "Garden State" and "Everybody's Fine."
Louis Garrel plays Friedrich "Fritz" Bhaer in "Little Women." The French actor is best known for his leading role in Bernardo Bertolucci's "The Dreamers" and is a frequent collaborator of French filmmaker Christophe Honoré — he's appeared in many of his films including "Ma mère," "Les Chansons d'amour" and "Non ma fille, tu n'iras pas danser."
