It's hard to believe that 11 seasons after it debuted, "Modern Family" is coming to an end. So much has changed since September 2009 — especially for the stars of the ABC sitcom. Ty Burrell stars as the nerdy Dunphy family patriarch, Phil.
Ty Burrell is now an Emmy winner! He's been named best supporting actor in a comedy twice for his portrayal of Phil Dunphy on "Modern Family" and has racked up six more nominations for his work on the show since 2010. He's also had roles in the films "Fair Game," "Morning Glory," "Butter," "The Skeleton Twins," "Muppets Most Wanted" and "Rough Night" and voiced roles in "Mr. Peabody & Sherman," "Finding Dory" and "Storks." In 2020, he landed a series regular role on "Duncanville," the animated sitcom co-created by Amy Poehler. Ty and his wife, Holly, adopted daughter Frances in 2010 and daughter Greta in 2012.
Julie Bowen stars as the competitive perfectionist Claire Dunphy, Phil's wife.
Julie Bowen is now an Emmy winner too! She's been named best supporting actress in a comedy twice for her portrayal of Claire Dunphy on "Modern Family" and has racked up four more nominations for her work on the show since 2010. She also had a role in "Horrible Bosses" and voiced a character in "Planes: Fire & Rescue." The same year "Modern Family" debuted, Julie and husband Scott Phillips added twin boys, John and Gustav, to their brood, which already included son Oliver. In 2018, she and Scott, who split in 2017, negotiated a divorce settlement. The same year, Julie appeared in the comedy "Life of the Party." In 2019, she voiced the character of Lieutenant Penumbra in the Disney reboot of "DuckTales." Next up for Julie? She'll star in the pilot for the CBS comedy "Raised By Wolves" and reunite with "Happy Gilmore" co-star Adam Sandler for the comedy film "Hubie Halloween."
Jesse Tyler Ferguson stars as uptight lawyer Mitchell Pritchett, Claire's brother.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson has earned five Emmy nominations for his portrayal of Mitchell Pritchett on "Modern Family." In addition to his work on the sitcom, he had a brief stint on "Web Therapy" and voiced a character in "Ice Age: Collision Course." After a brief 2010 romance with Zachary Quinto, Jesse married lawyer Justin Mikita in 2013. The couple are expecting their first child together in July 2020. In February 2020, Jesse began hosting the revived series "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." He'll next appear in "Take Me Out" on Broadway.
Eric Stonestreet stars as the dramatic Cameron Tucker, Mitchell's husband.
Eric Stonestreet is another Emmy winner! He's been named best supporting actor in a comedy twice for his portrayal of Cameron Tucker on "Modern Family" and was nominated a third year but lost to co-star Ty Burrell. He's also earned three Golden Globe nominations for his work on the sitcom. Since "Modern Family" debuted, Eric has appeared in "Bad Teacher," "Identity Thief" and "The Loft," voiced a character in "The Secret Life of Pets" (a role he reprised in the 2019 sequel), starred in the HBO made-for-TV movie "Confirmation" and popped up on an episode of "American Horror Story: Murder House." He and Broadway star Katherine Tokarz reportedly ended their relationship of about three years in early 2012. As of August 2017, he's been in a relationship with pediatric nurse Lindsay Schweitzer. In 2020, Eric appeared as a guest judge on the 15th season of "America's Got Talent."

Though he's been a Golden Globe nominee since the '90s, Ed O'Neill is now an Emmy nominee! He's earned three nods for best supporting actor in a comedy for his work on "Modern Family." Since the sitcom debuted, he's portrayed a version of himself in the "Entourage" movie and voiced characters in "Wreck-It Ralph" and "Finding Dory." In 2019, he appeared on an episode of the web comedy series "Weird City," and in 2020, he landed a role in the film "The Last Shift." He and wife Catherine Rusoff celebrated 33 years of marriage in 2019. They have two daughters.
Sofia Vergara stars as sexy Colombian housewife Gloria Pritchett, Jay's wife and Manny and Joe's mom.
Sofia Vergara has earned four Emmy and four Golden Globe nominations for her portrayal of Gloria Pritchett on "Modern Family." Since the sitcom debuted, she's had roles in "The Smurfs," "New Year's Eve," "The Three Stooges," "Machete Kills," "Chef," "Hot Pursuit" and more. She's also voiced characters in "Happy Feet Two," "Escape from Planet Earth" and "The Emoji Movie." Since "Modern Family" debuted, Sarah Hyland has appeared in "Scary Movie 5," "Vampire Academy" and "XOXO." She also starred in the 2013 "Bonnie & Clyde" miniseries and in the 2017 "Dirty Dancing" remake. In 2014, she and actor Matt Prokop parted ways after five years as a couple. Following the breakup, Sarah accused her ex of threatening and verbally abusing her as part of her efforts to get a restraining order against him. Not long after, she moved on with actor Dominic Sherwood, whom she dated until August 2017 — during their relationship she even appeared on two episodes of his show "Shadowhunters." In November 2017, Sarah — who has kidney dysplasia and has undergone two kidney transplants during her time on "Modern Family" — was linked to Bachelor Nation alum Wells Adams. She's also an accomplished voice actress who's voiced characters in "ParaNorman," "Mr. Peabody & Sherman" and "Smurfs: The Lost Village" and on "Phineas and Ferb" and "Jake and the Never Land Pirates." She was also the voice of the titular princess on Disney's "Sofia the First." After brief romances with actors Callan McAuliffe and Cameron Palatas (when she was 14 and he was 18), Ariel had an off-and-on relationship of about three years with producer Laurent Claude Gaudette. They parted ways in mid-2016 and she quickly moved on with "The Killing" actor Levi Meaden, though the couple called it quits in 2019 after nearly three years together. Later that same year, Ariel moved on with actor Luke Benward. The former child star, who turned 21 in 2019, passed his GED test to graduate from high school when he was just 13 in 2012. In 2019, Nolan, who's been romantically linked to model Hannah Glasby, appeared in the film "Yes." He'll next star opposite actress pal Joey King in the coming-of-age project "Camp."
Rico Rodriguez stars as mature and street smart Manny Delgado, Gloria's son from a previous relationship who's Jay's stepson.
Rico Rodriguez has grown up before our very eyes! Though he hasn't been in many major projects since "Modern Family" debuted, he portrayed a version of himself in 2011's "The Muppets" and appeared on the reality television shows "Double Dare" in 2018 and "The Substitute" in 2020.
