Back in January, as Alex Trebek was coming to terms with his cancer diagnosis, he told People that while he was "satisfied" with the life he lived, his one regret was not having met his wife, Jean, earlier so they could have had more time together.
That probably helps explain the couple's choice for Alex's final resting place. According to The Blast, the "Jeopardy!" host's death certificate shows he was cremated and his ashes will be kept with Jean at their home in Studio City, California.
Alex, 80, lost his battle with stage four pancreatic cancer on Nov. 8, after 22 months. He continued to host his long-running game show through much of that time. He was also able to spend time with Jean, who he married in 1990.

As "Jeopardy!" executive producer Mike Richards told CNN and the hosts of "Today" in recent interviews, Alex knew how he wanted to spend his last day on earth — and it was at home on the swing in his backyard, with Jean at his side.
"Even in his book, he described that he wanted his final day to be sitting on his swing next to his wife, Jean, and kind of watching the horizon, and he got to do that," Mike said.
A few days after Alex's passing, Jean, 56, shared a note of gratitude on Instagram, letting fans and friends know how much the outpouring of support meant to her and the couple's children.
"My family and I sincerely thank you all for your compassionate messages and generosity," she wrote alongside a photo from her wedding day. "Your expressions have truly touched our hearts."
Alex and Jean first met at a party in 1988, according to Newsweek. They reportedly kept their relationship platonic at first because of their large age difference — but that obviously didn't stick.

"There was just this deep sensitivity about him with a gruffy exterior," Jean recalled in an interview with People earlier this year. "I kept thinking, he's 24 years older than me … but there was something that just kept drawing me to him."
Over the course of their nearly 30-year marriage, the couple tended to stay close to home, favoring movies in bed after dinner over parties and nights out on the town.
In the same interview, Jean said she and Alex had "challenges" like any couple.
"And then we have our really beautiful times," she said, "where we're just so blessed to know that we're in each other's courtyard."
