Armie Hammer's name began trending over the weekend on social media after he allegedly described himself as a "cannibal" in a leaked private message.
There is some speculation that the messages are fake, but that hasn't been confirmed.
The private messages sent to a woman and attributed to Armie are graphic. In one message, he tells the woman, "I am 100% a cannibal."
Adding to the question of authenticity, Just Jared reports there is a screenshot from the person who originally posted the alleged DMs saying that they are fake. But some are saying that the screenshot isn't real either.
Without verifying the accuracy of the messages, fans on social media immediately began honing in on the "Call Me By Your Name" star and making comments.
"Praying these Armie Hammer DM's are fake so I can sleep at night," one person said. Another added, "Ok hear me out. Is armie hammer a vampire?"
This isn't the first time Armie has made headlines with his social media. In fact, he once quit Twitter in 2017. He later rejoined and got into squabbles with other Twitter users. One user even campaigned to get Armie to deactivate his Twitter a second time. Armie replied, "Your tweet got one like… doesn't seem like you can do much of anything."
Over the summer — around the time Armie and wife Elizabeth Chambers split — fans worried that the actor was having a "breakdown" amid his odd social media activity. In late May, he posted a video of himself shirtless and chugging a beer during a round of golf. Armie — sporting a shaved head — then hit the ball before militantly walking out of frame. He kept silent throughout the video… aside from a belch.
"When the world is ending but you already have come to terms with the fact that this current time is ruled by chaos…" he captioned the clip.
