Arnold Schwarzenegger successfully underwent heart surgery in Ohio, he revealed.
The "Terminator" star posted several pictures to Instagram on Oct. 23, one of which showed him recovering in a hospital bed.
"Thanks to the team at the Cleveland Clinic, I have a new aortic valve to go along with my new pulmonary valve from my last surgery," he wrote alongside the images.
The former California governor underwent emergency heart surgery in March 2018. He would later go on to say that he thought it would be a simple procedure with a minimal recovery effort, but the recovery turned out to be grueling and he felt like he was fighting for his life. He spoke about the medical procedure earlier this year while speaking to 2020 graduates.
"I woke up from the surgery, I woke up 16 hours later instead of four hours [later]. And there was a tube sticking out of my mouth. The doctor moved forward, took the tube and ripped it out of my throat. And I was coughing violently, and he says, 'Just keep coughing. And then let us tell you what happened,'" he said. "They told me they had to do emergency surgery, that something went wrong during this non-invasive procedure. And then it became very invasive. They said they broke through the heart wall and there was internal bleeding and I could have died if they didn't open up my sternum and do open-heart surgery."
He added, "Life will always throw an obstacle in your path, like it was my heart surgery or with your graduation. But if you have a vision, a very clear vision of where you want to go and what you want to do, then there's no problem."
Arnold, who also had his pulmonic valve replaced in 1997, is proving this time that he's feeling good, even sharing images of himself out and about in Cleveland.
"I feel fantastic and have already been walking the streets of Cleveland enjoying your amazing statues," he said on Friday. "Thank you to every doc and nurse on my team!"
After his post, several of Arnold's children commented on his images.
"PLEASE DONT GO WORKOUT TODAY!!" Patrick Schwarzenegger wrote. Katherine Schwarzenegger commented with several praying hand emojis.
