Emilia Clarke may have given a spoiler about her character on "Game of Thrones"… or did she?
In an interview with Rolling Stone, the actress hinted that her character, Daenerys Targaryen, won't survive the final season of the popular series. If nothing else, she said she won't be continuing the character in any capacity once the show, in its current form, ends.
"I mean, I have no doubt there'll be prequels and sequels and who knows what else. But I am doing one more season," she said, "and then that'll be it."
Emilia didn't clarify if her character will be killed off or if she is simply walking away. While continuing the mystery, she said there would be a "shake-up" surrounding her character.
"It makes me emotional to think about," she said. "It's my beginning, middle and end – the single thing that has changed me most as an adult."
Of the final season, which is expected to air next year, she added, "It's a really interesting season in terms of some loose ends that have been tied, some really satisfying plot points, some things where you're like, 'Oh, my God. I forgot about that!'"
It's certainly not unheard of for "GOT" producers to kill off major characters. In the early days, Emilia said she was scared she'd be killed off.
"Fear! I was just petrified! I genuinely was so scared – I was so fresh out, a year and a bit, so I'd done a couple of little things, but this was the first proper thing that I'd ever done," she said. "I was just thinking at any moment they would fire me, and at any moment they'd be like, 'Just joking, take the wig off.'"
