Given a choice between preserving her record collection and appeasing her kids, Eva Mendes is going with the latter. Thanks, 2020.
Last week, the 46-year-old actress shared a black and white selfie in which her face was framed by the hole in a vinyl album cover where opera legend Maria Callas' face should have been.
It seems one of the daughters she shares with Ryan Gosling, Esmerelda, 6, and Amada, 4, had other plans for Maria.
"My little girl wanted to cut out Maria Callas' face from the record cover," Eva, 46, captioned the post. "I quietly died a little inside but I quickly said yes. Mom pandemic guilt in full effect đź–¤"
It was a rare glimpse at Eva's family life, which she's said she intentionally keeps private, telling Instagram followers earlier this year that she's valued her privacy "since wayyyyyy before" her acting career.
Still, as Eva said in that same May post, she likes Instagram because it allows her to connect with other women. And while that doesn't mean she wants to put Ryan or their kids in a position of compromised privacy, she does occasionally speak up in a way that allows her to feel connected to other moms.
In October, for example, Eva joked about pandemic parenting to the Sydney Morning Herald, saying she and Ryan sometimes feel like they're, "running some kind of bed-and-breakfast with very drunk and aggressive guests."
Eva added that during those moments, she tries to think about the positive aspects of life these days.
"When we feel like we're just 'in it,' like all parents do during these times, we remind ourselves that these are the good times, because we're all together and we're all safe," she said.
