Taylor Swift knows all too well that her fans love a good "easter egg" hunt, and they think her latest hairstyle might be more than meets the eye.
While accepting her award for Songwriter of the Year during Wednesday's 2020 Apple Music Awards, the pop star rocked long, straight hair, a far different look than one she recently sported while promoting her "Folklore" album.
In fact, many fans felt that her hairstyle was very reminiscent of the look she had on the cover of her 2013 album "Red." The look has convinced fans that Taylor is re-recording that beloved album.
"She straightened her hair with bangs! Again, she straightened her hair with bangs! When was the last time she did that? RED ERA! 10-minute All Too Well version is coming!," one person tweeted, Page Six noted. Another noted Taylor's red lip, adding, "Could she be filming old music videos? Or album covers?"
Taylor is known for dropping subtle clues, known as Easter eggs, about future projects in interviews and on social media.
"I've never been more proud of your FBI level detective skills," she wrote on Instagram last year after hundreds of fans showed up for an unannounced appearance in Nashville… again, an appearance she casually dropped hints about social media.
In a chat with Entertainment Weekly in 2019, she spoke about her penchant for dropping Easter eggs.
"This is one of my favorite ways to do this, because you wear something that foreshadows something else, and people don't really usually find out this one immediately," she said. "But they know you're probably sending a message — they'll figure it out in time."
In regard to the new fan theory, there may be some validity to it. Amid Taylor's battle to obtain her master recordings from her first six albums — which Scooter Braun recently sold to an investment fund — the pop star has said she will rerecord her old material.
Is the "Red" re-recording about to… begin again?
