On the mend
This week, John Mayer was rushed to a New Orleans hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. The singer is currently touring with The Dead and Company, which tweeted the news. "Early this morning, Tuesday, December 5th, John Mayer was admitted into the hospital for emergency appendectomy forcing the Dead & Company December 5th concert in New Orleans to be postponed," the tweet said. On Dec. 6, John posted an Instagram photo of himself in a hospital gown. "Still got it," he quipped.

Fired
Netflix fired Danny Masterson from "The Ranch" this week following four women's claims that he raped them in the early 2000s. The actor has maintained his innocence. "As a result of ongoing discussions, Netflix and the producers have written Danny Masterson out of The Ranch. [Monday] was his last day on the show, and production will resume in early 2018 without him," the streaming service explained in a Dec. 5 statement. Danny also serves as an executive producer on "The Ranch," although it's unclear if he will keep that title. After the news of his ouster was made official, Danny told The Huffington Post, "I am obviously very disappointed in Netflix's decision to write my character off of 'The Ranch.' From day one, I have denied the outrageous allegations against me. I have never been charged with a crime, let alone convicted of one. In this country, you are presumed innocent until proven guilty. However, in the current political climate, it seems as if you are presumed guilty the moment you are accused. I understand and look forward to clearing my name once and for all."

Rings are off
Matt Lauer and wife Annette Roque are on the verge of a divorce, her father said this week. "I have no words for her husband. What he has done is bad. Everybody feels betrayed. She is not going to stay with him and work it out. They are not together trying to work it out," Annette's father, Henri, told DailyMail.com. He might not be wrong either, as both Annette and the disgraced newsman were seen without their wedding rings on Dec. 6. "[Annette] is feeling shocked and she is now having sorrow for her children. Me too. Everybody is feeling quite sad… The situation is so bad. I have met Matt, he was a nice guy. I feel kind of betrayed. It's my own daughter." Earlier in the week, Page Six reported that Matt and Annette's marriage was crumbling even before he was fired from the "Today" show following serious allegations of sexual misconduct, and that they've led separate lives for years.

Pulling the plug
"The Real Housewives of Orange County" star Shannon Beador officially filed for divorce from her husband of 17 years, David Beador. The filing comes less than two months after she announced that they had separated. She cited irreconcilable differences in her divorce documents. Shannon, who has three daughters with her ex, is seeking primary physical custody of the kids. She's also seeking spousal support and asking for attorneys' fees. The marriage has been rocky ever since Shannon revealed in 2015 that David had an affair that lasted for eight months. Though she forgave him and they renewed their vows, it clearly wasn't enough.
Best friend, best man
It will be a family affair at the altar when Prince Harry marries Meghan Markle in May 2018, but it won't follow royal tradition, exactly. Harry has asked his brother, Prince William, to be his best man, according to multiple reports. Typically, royals don't have a "best man" during wedding ceremonies — if they ask someone to stand up for them, that person is called a "supporter" — but William broke tradition when he asked Harry to be his best man at his 2011 nuptials. Harry is now repaying his big brother. "Harry has several close guy friends, but there's no way he would ask anyone but William to take on the top job," a source told Us Weekly. William's kids, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, will also reportedly have roles on Harry's big day, but Duchess Kate (who's expected to give birth to her third child the month before the wedding) will not.
Lawsuit
Terry Crews is suing Adam Venit, the high-profile Hollywood agent he claims groped him at a party last year. TMZ reported on Dec. 5 that the actor filed a lawsuit against Adam and is claiming that the agent stared at him "like a rabid dog, sticking his tongue in and out of his mouth provocatively" after fondling his genitals. In November, in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein sexual misconduct scandal, Terry filed a police report about the alleged incident. An investigation is still reportedly ongoing.
Evacuated
Some of Hollywood's biggest names were forced to evacuate their homes this week due to the devastating wildfires that choked Los Angeles. Lionel Richie, Paris Hilton, Chelsea Handler, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, Kyle Richards and Lea Michele were among those who had to flee their homes. "This wild fire in LA is terrifying!" Paris tweeted on Dec. 6. "My house is now being evacuated to get all of my pets out of there safely. Thank you to all the firefighters who are risking their lives to save ours. You are true heroes!" Lea Michele tweeted, "Praying for everyone in LA…grabbed what I loved most this morning and so grateful to my friends for taking us in." Former "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Adrienne Maloof tweeted, "We are being evacuated. The air quality is terrible and my sons' school has closed for the remainder of the week." Stay safe, L.A.
Cut from the will
David Cassidy, who died of organ failure in November, intentionally left his estranged daughter, actress Katie Cassidy, out of his will. In the singer's last will and testament — which was drafted in 2004 — he acknowledges son Beau and Katie but says that any references to his "child or children" are only intended for Beau, who's inheriting the bulk of the former teen heartthrob's $150,000 estate. "It is my specific intent not to provide any benefits hereunder to Katherine Evelyn Cassidy and/or any descendent of Katherine Evelyn Cassidy," he wrote in the will. David and his daughter have had a long, complicated relationship for years. "I wasn't her father. I was her biological father but I didn't raise her," he told People magazine in February. "She has a completely different life."
$30 million lawsuit
Bravo figurehead Andy Cohen, "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" star Melissa Gorga and NBC are being sued for $30 million by a woman who claims she was defamed on the reality TV show. The woman, Jackie Beard Robinson, said she was made to look like a thief on "RHONJ" and claims her on-screen portrayal has negatively impacted her business and personal life. Melissa and Jackie are former business partners in a New Jersey clothing store called Envy by Melissa Gorga. When their partnership turned sour, Jackie retrieved her property from the store. But she claims that the reality show made it appear that she stole it in the middle of the night.
Big Divorce
Richard Hatch, the winner of the first "Survivor," is ending his 14-year marriage — the reality TV star says his husband left him for another (much younger) man. "I'M LOOKING FOR LOVE! If you think I'm the guy for you or for someone you know, please let me know," Richard wrote on Twitter on Dec. 7. "I prefer to share the journey in partnership, and sadly, my 14-year marriage has ended. Mr. Right will have to be bright enough to be kind. Thanks for your help in finding him." Richard told TMZ on Dec. 7 that the marriage ended two months ago and the duo is planning to divorce.
