Canceled
Roseanne Barr's über popular sitcom, "Roseanne," was canceled by ABC on May 29 after she posted a racist tweet ("muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj") about former President Barack Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett. Roseanne repeatedly apologized and said it was a joke made in "bad taste," but it was too late. After the cancelation, co-star Sara Gilbert tweeted that her TV mom's comments were "abhorrent," explaining, "This is incredibly sad and difficult for all of us, as we've created a show that we believe in, are proud of, and that audiences love — one that is separate and apart from the opinions and words of one cast member." Roseanne took responsibility though went on to insist that she's not a racist and said she was on Ambien when she tweeted in the middle of the night. The maker of Ambien, Sanofi, trolled her. "While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication," the company tweeted. The cancelation had all of Hollywood talking.
POTUS meeting
Bet you never thought this would happen. On May 30, Kim Kardashian West had a meeting with President Donald Trump in the White House. Let that sink in for a minute… The premise of the meeting was rather important. Kim and the POTUS spoke about prison reform. For months now, Kim has been advocating for the release of Alice Marie Johnson, a 62-year-old great-grandmother who was incarcerated in October 1996 for a first-time non-violent drug offense after she helped facilitate communications in a drug trafficking case. She's currently serving a life sentence without a chance of parole. While in the White House, Kim shared an image of the presidential seal to Instagram. "Happy Birthday Alice Marie Johnson. Today is for you," she captioned the image. After the meeting, Trump shared a photo with Kim in the Oval Office on Twitter. "Great meeting with @KimKardashian today, talked about prison reform and sentencing," he wrote. Kim, too, tweeted her thanks to the president. "I would like to thank President Trump for his time this afternoon. It is our hope that the President will grant clemency to Ms. Alice Marie Johnson who is serving a life sentence for a first-time, non-violent drug offense," she wrote. "We are optimistic about Ms. Johnson's future and hopeful that she — and so many like her — will get a second chance at life." Kim was a Hillary Clinton supporter in the 2016 presidential election, while her husband, Kanye West, is a huge Trump fan.

About-face
Morgan Freeman and his lawyers are demanding that CNN apologize and retract a story that paints him as a sexual harasser. On May 24, CNN published a story in which eight women claimed the legendary actor sexually harassed them on the sets of his movies. Morgan initially apologized for the alleged misconduct. On May 29, though, his team lashed out at the story, calling it "the product of malicious intent, falsehoods, slight-of-hand, an absence of editorial control, and journalistic malpractice." The letter sent to CNN also questioned reporter Chloe Melas, who co-wrote the story. "One cannot know if [Melas' version of events] was the product of something as innocuous as Ms. Melas having misheard what Mr. Freeman said, her runaway self-centeredness, or her search for a sexual harassment perpetrator to 'expose' so that she could grab attention and advance her career," the letter said. CNN responded, "The unfounded accusations made by Mr. Freeman's lawyer are disappointing and are difficult to reconcile with Mr. Freeman's own public statements in the aftermath of the story." CNN also said it "stands by its reporting and will respond forcefully to any attempt by Mr. Freeman or his representatives to intimidate us from covering this important public issue."

John Cena and Nikki Bella are back together, Us Weekly reported on May 31 — a claim People magazine also confirmed a day later. If you'll recall, the duo canceled their wedding and split in April just a few weeks before they were set to tie the knot. "Calling off the wedding was the right decision at the moment and their relationship only grew from it," a source told Us. "It didn't mean that any love was lost, or that they lost any feelings for one another, but they both have realized that they love each other and want to be with one another." The report comes a few days after John saucily tweeted, "Let's stop messing around, and start messing around." Many believed his tweet was aimed at Nikki. Last week, People magazine reported that the two were "basically back together." On June 1, People quoted a source who said, "They were always going to find their way back to each other. It was never going to be permanent."
