In recent weeks, Selena Gomez was hospitalized then sought mental health treatment after allegedly suffering an emotional breakdown, claim reports published on Oct. 10. The singer is reportedly at an East Coast psychiatric facility where she's receiving dialectical behavior therapy. "Selena has dealt with depression for a while and the people around her have always kept an eye on how she feels, even more so since her [2017] kidney transplant. Selena wasn't feeling well and went to the hospital, as she does whenever she feels off. After further monitoring, it was decided that Selena would seek treatment at a [mental health] facility," a source told "Entertainment Tonight."

Stevie Nicks, The Cure and other iconic musicians were nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Oct. 9. Republicans, white nationalists enraged over Taylor Swift's Democrat endorsements
Republican leaders and white nationalist groups lashed out at Taylor Swift on Oct. 8 after the singer endorsed Democratic candidates Phil Bredesen and Rep. Jim Cooper in a post on Instagram — the first time she's ever taken a public political stance. "Multimillionaire pop star Taylor Swift came down from her ivory tower to tell hardworking Tennesseans to vote for Phil Bredesen," the National Republican Senate Committee said in a statement. Taylor wrote that although she's been "reluctant to publicly voice" her political opinions in the past, she now feels compelled to "cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country."

Lady Gaga partnered with the director general of the World Health Organization on Oct. 9 to write a powerful essay about suicide and the world's "mental health emergency." "Despite the universality of the issue, we struggle to talk about it openly or to offer adequate care or resources," the pair wrote, in part, for The Guardian. "Within families and communities, we often remain silenced by a shame that tells us that those with mental illness are somehow less worthy or at fault for their own suffering."
12 injured at Lil Wayne concert after "shots fired" warning
Twelve people were injured at a Lil Wayne concert in Atlanta on Oct. 7 after a person in the crowd yelled that they heard gunshots, causing people to flee in fear. According to police, concertgoers suffered "ankle injuries and lacerations from attempting to jump fences."
Fyre Festival organizer sentenced to six years in prison
Fyre Festival organizer Billy McFarland was sentenced to six years in prison on Oct. 11 after pleading guilty to fraud. The 26 year old was immediately taken into custody following the sentencing. The charges stem from April 2017 when he deceived fans into paying thousands of dollars for faulty accommodations and tickets to a Caribbean concert that never occurred.
