It was a romance that nobody could have seen coming but Scott Disick, 34, and Sofia Richie, 19, seem to be in the honeymoon stage of their blooming relationship. Fifteen-year age difference be damned! From the initial relationship denials to the lavish vacations and the countless make out sessions, we're going inside this unexpected romance…
The rumors of Scott Disick and Sofia Richie's romance started in May after they were spotted getting awfully flirty with each other on a yacht during the Cannes Film Festival in France. Scott was seen picking Sofia up and carrying her around — he even tickled her as she laid down. Sofia immediately tried to quell the romance rumors, tweeting at the time, "Scott and I are just homies #relax."
For several months, Scott Disick and Sofia Richie played the "we're just friends" card. In June, though, she joined him in Las Vegas for dinner before he headed off to a paid hosting gig at a nightclub (she's underage, so she didn't join him in the club). That was the first of many vacations together. Around that same time, she tweeted, "The last time I'm gonna say it. Scott and I are just friends. I'm single and focused on friends, family and work. #againrelax." The two were later seen at dinners and lunches in Los Angeles, so the romance rumors continued.
Friends started thinking that things were getting serious in September. "They are inseparable right now and not leaving each other's side. Scott is totally romancing her and she is under his spell," a source told E! News. "He took her away to Santa Barbara this weekend and is spoiling her with shopping trips and sweet gestures."
In late September, Scott Disick and Sofia Richie could really no longer deny the relationship after they were spotted kissing in Miami. That same weekend, the couple, along with friends, went to dinner and were presented with a dessert platter. The words "Congratulations Scott and Sofia" were spelled out on a plate. Video posted to one of their friend's Snapchat showed the two kissing passionately during the dessert presentation. Media outlets were confused as to what the revelry was all about, but most now believe the couple was being congratulated for going official.
Scott Disick and Sofia Richie went south of the border in early October. They also seemed to stop denying that a relationship was happening and posted photos on social media. They each posted Instagram Stories from Mexico, with both posting the same photo of their legs tangled together as they laid by the pool and looked out at the ocean. Sofia captioned her colored photo, "Bubba" and Scott wrote "off set" on his black and white version. According to E! News, the couple stayed at "Girls Gone Wild" founder Joe Francis' house in Punta Mita, Mexico, Casa Aramara. They flew down there on a private jet with David Einhorn and Cooper Mount, two of Scott's pals. E! said they were very affectionate throughout the PDA-fueled trip, often sharing kisses in the home and while riding jet skis in the ocean.
Not everyone seems thrilled with Scott Disick and Sofia Richie's romance, specifically her famous father. Us Weekly spoke to Lionel Richie about the budding relationship and he didn't really mince words. "Have I been in shock?! I'm the dad, come on," he said. "I'm scared to death, are you kidding me?"
As the make out sessions continued, the seriousness of the relationship started making headlines. So, how serious are Scott Disick and Sofia Richie? "From Scott's side, it's not serious. From Sofia's side it is," a source close to Sofia told E! News. "She calls Scott her boyfriend and they spend as much time as they can together. Scott likes her company because she is mature for her age and doesn't party much. She has actually been really good for him." The source continued. "They have traveled a lot, but they also do normal things like get coffee or go shopping. They are mellow together and just really enjoy being low key. He has spoiled her by taking her on a few amazing trips and she has loved that. They have experienced a lot together and had some fun adventures in a short time."
That's amore! Scott Disick and Sofia Richie headed to Italy in mid-October and they did anything but hide their feelings. The two were seen kissing in the streets, in cafes and even on a gondola ride through the famous canals in Venice. She took to social media to post several images with Scott. "Run away with it," she captioned the image of her and Scott on a bridge overlooking one of the city's famous canals. She also posted a pic of Scott nuzzling her in the street.
Some think this romance is a fling and a crash landing in inevitable. Sofia Richie does not. In October, a source told People magazine of Scott Disick, "He still has Kourtney [Kardashian] at the top of his mind all the time, and he is still texting and flirting with other girls. Sofia is very young and naive and doesn't know what she's in for. She feels like she's in the in-crowd right now and loves that Scott has swagger and money and that he loves to travel and party." But, a source told E! News that Sofia sees Scott as her knight in shining armor. "He is taking care of her and that's exactly what she loves," the source said. "Sofia has been interested in him for a long time. She feels like she knows a different side of him and that they are good for each other. She is falling hard and thinks this is the real thing."
