Jill (Duggar) Dillard once again has an opposite belief from her extremely conservative parents.
The 29-year-old, one of 19 Duggar children, revealed in a YouTube video on Sept. 30 that she currently uses birth control, something her parents have essentially dubbed a sin.
"Yes, we use birth control," she said during a Q&A, "but we prefer to use non-hormonal birth control methods."
Jill's parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, swore off birth control after welcoming their first child, Josh, in 1988, and have famously said they want God to decide how many children they should have. They have passed their stringent beliefs onto their children.
"There are probably uses for hormonal methods of birth control for, like, regulating things, and stuff like that. But for us, we just want to be careful about that, and we're just, like, more natural-minded," Jill said. "Eventually, we want to have more kids and stuff."
Jill and her husband, Derick Dillard, share two children, Israel, 5, and Samuel, 3.
Considering Jill's family, her admission to using birth control can be viewed as a bombshell. However, Jill has broken from her family multiple times in recent weeks.
Earlier this month, social media was dumbfounded when she acknowledged that she was drinking an alcoholic pina colada.
Jim Bob and Michelle are devout independent Baptists who don't drink alcohol and have raised their kids not to either.
A few days after imbibing, the "Counting On" star admitted that she would consider a tattoo, which was also shocking to fans.
Fans were also recently baffled when Jill drank regular caffeinated coffee.
In Jill and Derick's last Q&A video, she admitted that her family is "not always" supportive of her decisions but refuses to be "led by fear" and "controlled by what somebody else is gonna think."
"Are they supportive? Not always," she said. "Everyone's gonna have their opinion about different things. Some of my siblings are probably more likely to have something to say about it than others. Some are more like, 'Hey, I'm happy for whatever y'all are deciding.' Not all of them are cool with it but some of them are more cool with it than others."
