Jordin Sparks has a lot to look forward to!
The 28-year-old singer revealed that she is blissfully happy, but also nervous, about becoming a new mom during an interview with Wonderwall.com on Feb. 7.
"It's terrifying and exciting all at the same time. It's all so new but it's all so beautiful at the same time," Jordin told us. "It's like overwhelming in the best way, because I know I found Dana and he's absolutely incredible… and now, with our son coming, it's just even more exciting. It's a lot, but it's amazing."
The "American Idol" alum revealed in a November 2017 Instagram post that she's expecting a baby boy with husband Dana Isaiah. The pair announced their pregnancy just a few weeks earlier after secretly marrying during a Hawaii vacation on July 16, 2017.
"It's really crazy because neither of us were looking for anything. We weren't even open to it," Jordin said of starting a family. "You know the old cliche that people have said for, I don't know how long, that when you're least looking for it, that's when it'll find you. And it actually did. It's kind of nuts to think about it. I really wasn't; I wasn't looking, he wasn't looking and then we met each other and then it just was."
The expectant mom, who said that she loves children, is naturally partnering up with Lay's and Operation Smile to help children worldwide who suffer from cleft conditions.
"I love kids. I love anything we can do to empower them and inspire them. This was just another perfect thing to just lend my voice to because it helps kids get their smiles, and they're contagious. It can change the course of your day just seeing somebody smile; so I wanted to be apart of that," the "No Air" singer told Wonderwall.
Jordin helped launch the Lay's Smiles Experience in New York City on Feb. 7. Fans can purchase limited-edition smile bags, and for every bag purchased, a donation will be made to Operation Smile (up to $1 million).
During her first trimester, Jordin craved Lay's chips (Sour Cream and Onion or Salt and Vinegar), pickles and "anything salty." She's maintained a workout regimen when she has the energy and occasionally hits the gym with her husband.
"I go when I can," she told us. "I have not felt like working out a lot during this pregnancy and I haven't. You know there are days when I have more energy and I'm like, 'Okay, can I come with you to the gym?' Like, lets go! And there are other days when I'm like, 'I'll see you when I get home, babe; I'm just going to go back to sleep.'"
"The thing for me was really just meeting my body where it was," she continued. "It is different not having the same amount of energy, so it's not like the video Dana and I did [above], we do every single day. I do try and stay active and get up, and walk around the house or stay standing. Doing something, at least, because sitting just gets too uncomfortable."
In addition to a new hubby and baby, Jordin is also recording new music in the studio and just wrapped a new film, "God Bless the Broken Road." Her schedule may be super-busy, but the starlet said she would still make time to return to "American Idol" if asked.
"I think that would be a lot of fun. It is funny because they had us come and have like, this emotional breakdown over the show ending and then it came back. So we were all like, 'What? What is this?'" Jordin said. "I'm excited for any type of show that gives people a chance to live their dream. … If they called me to maybe do a guest judge or just go see the show or go say hi, you know, that would be a lot of fun."
