In the midst of his ongoing Twitter war with the music industry — and specifically Universal Records — Kanye West gave his past music accolades a different kind of live stream.
On Sept. 16, the rapper posted a video to Twitter that appears to show him urinating on one of his Grammys.
The video shows the award in a toilet. "Trust me … I WONT STOP," Kanye captioned the video, an apparent reference to his record label feud. He then continued, "TRUST ME I WONT STOP UNTIL ALL IS FAIR TRUST ME FROM NAT YE AKA BABY PUTIN."
He also asked fellow artists like Bono, Paul McCartney, Drake and even longtime nemesis Taylor Swift for support.
Kanye has been ranting for days about the music industry, even comparing it (and the NBA) to "modern day slave ships." He has been advocating for artists and athletes, especially Black artists, to free themselves from their contracts.
"I'm the new Moses," he tweeted on Sept. 14.
On Sept. 16, he didn't slow down, claiming he should be able to own the master copies of his songs, while also arguing that Black entertainers and athletes aren't getting their fair share of profits. Kanye adds that people don't speak up for fear of repercussion, something he says he's not afraid of. He claims the reason that Universal won't sell him his master records is because the label knows he can afford them.
The diatribe continued when he uploaded copies of his 10 Universal Records contracts and implored "every lawyer in the world" to look at them.
At the same time, he wrote, "THIS MOMENT IS GOING TO CHANGE THE MUSIC INDUSTRY FOR GOOD … I FEEL SO HUMBLED AND BLESSED THAT GOD HAS PUT ME IN A STRONG ENOUGH POSITION TO DO THIS … EVERYONE KEEP PRAYING … ITS WORKING … I AM ON MY KNEES THIS MORNING."
He later said, "ALL THE MUSICIANS WILL BE FREE."
The rant comes while many — including Kanye's wife, Kim Kardashian West — suspect he's in the midst of a bipolar episode.
