We have a name!
After days of mystery, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have revealed that they've named their newest daughter Chicago West.
The reality TV star revealed the name on her subscription-based website and app on Jan. 19.
Although Kimye's daughter was born on Jan. 15, reports indicated that the couple had trouble deciding on a name. Cameras caught Kanye on a few days after Chicago was born and he essentially shrugged when asked what they were calling their newest bundle of joy.
Kanye is a native of Chicago.
On Jan. 18, many even thought Kim and Kanye were going to name their daughter Louis Vuitton based on an Instagram post. After several hours of letting the the rumor spread, Kim poured water on it.
Like she did with in sharing the child's name, Kim used her website to officially confirm the birth this week, revealing the baby was 7 lbs., 6oz.
The couple used a surrogate to carry the child.
"Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl," the reality TV star wrote. "We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care. North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister."
TMZ reported that Kim was in the delivery room when the surrogate gave birth and was the first person to have skin-to-skin contact with the baby. Kim opened up on her decision to use a surrogate (or gestational carrier, as Kim says) on her app.
"People assume it's better because you don't have to deal with the physical changes, pain or complications with delivery, but for me it was so hard to not carry my own child, especially after I carried North and Saint," she wrote.
She continued, "I'm so grateful for modern technology and that this is even possible. It's not for everyone, but I absolutely love my gestational carrier and this was the best experience I've ever had. Our gestational carrier gave us the greatest gift one could give."
"The connection with our baby came instantly and it's as if she was with us the whole time," Kim added. "Having a gestational carrier was so special for us and she made our dreams of expanding our family come true. We are so excited to finally welcome home our baby girl."
Welcome to the the family, Chicago.
