Romance rumors have begun to surround Lily James and her "The Pursuit of Love" co-star Dominic West… The only problem: he's married, and is wife is said to be "devastated."
On Oct. 11, The Daily Mail published photos that show the duo snuggling up over lunch in Rome, where their mini-series is being filmed, and exploring the city on a shared electric scooter. One photo shows Dominic caressing Lily's head; another shows him kissing her neck.
While other members of the in-production mini-series joined the duo for lunch, they seemed to be coupled up while out and about in the city, his hand often on the "Mamma Mia" star's back.
In the photos of Dominic and Lily, he is not wearing his wedding ring.
In addition, a source told The Daily Mail that Dominic, 50, and Lily, 31, spent two nights in a romantic suite at the Hotel De La Ville, which offers panoramic views of Rome and is close to the famous Spanish steps.
When the pictures were published, it was not known if Dominic and his wife of 10 years, Irish landscape designer Catherine FitzGerald, were separated, as they'd not announced a split. However, on Oct. 12, The Daily Mail said Catherine, who Dominic shares four children with, was "devastated" because she thought they had a "good marriage."
"Catherine has seen the pictures and she's devastated. I came over to speak with her as soon as I knew about them," a source said. "Catherine has been trying to speak with Dominic but he's not answering his phone. She's totally shocked because she didn't know anything was going on. They were very much together, so this is completely out of the blue."
"She thought they had a good marriage and now it's probably over. That's how she feels right now but the two of them need to speak but at the moment, she's lost for words," the source continued.
A separate source said, "Catherine was devastated when she saw those pics and they also left us feeling quite numb. It's a total shock to all of us who know them."
A third source added, "To say [Catherine] is in shock would be an understatement. She's heartbroken and has got nothing to publicly say. She needs to be left alone and have some time to herself."
Dominic, who ironically starred in "The Affair," and Catherine had not been photographed together publicly since early 2019, leading many outside of their inner circle to wonder if they'd separated, which wasn't the case.
Lily recently ended a five-year off-and-on romance with "The Crown" actor Matt Smith.
"They have gone back and forth this year trying to sort things out between them because they both have so much love for each other," a source told The Sun last week. "But unfortunately it just isn't working and they have mutually decided to just close this chapter of their lives.
Earlier this year she was also linked to Chris Evans.
