While preparing for her newest role, Lucy Hale learned all about the birds and the bees.
In "A Nice Girl Like You," Lucy's character creates a sex to-do list after being dumped by her boyfriend. In order to portray the character accurately, the former "Pretty Little Liars" star said she went to a sex convention to get a few pointers.
"I play a girl named Lucy Neal, which is crazy. It was written as that Lucy Neal, Lucy Hale, I was like, 'This is meant to be,'" she told E!'s Daily Pop on Wednesday. "But, the whole time I was reading it, I was just laughing my butt off. And it made me feel uncomfortable, like really uncomfortable, so I knew that I had to do it."
In fact, she said she was "embarrassed and blushing" while reading the script, but that didn't dissuade her from wanting to be a part of the film. In real life, the role helped "break me out of my shell," she said.
How so?
"Went to an actual sex convention — it was wild," she plainly stated. "Stuff I've never seen before."
The 31-year-old actress noted she even gained some real life inspiration from the character… and that convention.
"There were some things in the movie that I had never heard of or done," she said. "So, it did broaden my horizons."
Lucy's newest role comes after her The CW show "Katy Keene" was not renewed for a second season.
"Sometimes things just don't work out and maybe it was just not the right time for it, I don't know, I'm a little confused," she tearfully said in a July 2 Instagram video. "The show is not coming back and that sucks, but I'll hold my head high and who knows what I'll do next."
