Pamela Anderson is single again after reportedly calling it quits with her soccer player boyfriend of over a year, Adil Rami, largely because she feels that he needs to be a more present father to his young kids.
TMZ reported that Pam pulled the plug after she declined a marriage proposal from Adil.
Although the split was her decision, it has left her "heartbroken," a source told Page Six.
"After spending this past week with Adil's cute twin sons … it broke Pam's heart that he doesn't see them enough, as he should, so she's moving out," the source said on Sept. 7. "Pamela feels she is the reason Adil doesn't spend enough time with his children. She is removing herself from his life so he can do the right thing and be with his kids."
The source added, "It's a selfless move by Pamela, a true romantic — and she is heartbroken. Adil has difficulty balancing his life with Pamela and what should be a healthy relationship with his ex, the mother of his children. It's typical of Pamela to sacrifice for her love. This is about his happiness and the sake of his sons. They need him more than her. She knows he'll thank her one day."
Pam, 51, has hopes the World Cup-winning French soccer player will reunite with the mother of his children.
The former "Baywatch" star has moved out of the home she shared with Adil.
Newly single, Pam is preparing to participate in "Dancing with the Stars France." She's also reportedly being wooed by a billionaire.
In early August, Page Six reported that Russian-British newspaper magnate Evgeny Lebedev had the hots for Pam, and her friends liked the idea of he and Pam together.
"Evgeny Lebedev has been trying to sweep her away for years," a source close to Pam said at the time. "They share a love of arts and have many intellectual interests in common. Pamela's friends think he's better suited to her."
One of Pam's high-profile friends, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, is probably delighted with news of the split.
"Julian Assange is also no fan of Adil," the source said. "In fact, before he was isolated and cut off from Wi-Fi and outside communication, he introduced Pamela to Croatian philosopher Srecko Horvat. Julian's position is if he can't have her, he wants her to be with someone smart and interesting."
