Tyler Perry is lending a helping hand to disgraced Hillsong pastor Carl Lentz and his family.
The movie mogul, according to The Sun, dropped nearly $100,000 so that the former man of God and his family can live in their 5,000-square-foot Los Angeles mansion for the next six months.
Carl and his wife, Laura, moved from New Jersey to Los Angeles in late October just days before they were were fired from the celebrity-favorite church due to his "moral failures" and "breaches of trust." Carl, who was once inseparable from Justin Bieber, later admitted that he had an affair.
"Tyler has been friends with Carl and his wife, Laura, for years and is sticking by them and their kids during this difficult time," a source told The Sun, adding that the ex-pastor has been "leaning" on Tyler since his fall from grace.
Another source said the men have spoken "consistently" over the past two months.
The pair have been friendly for years. In 2018, the "Madea" star posted a picture of him reading Carl's book, "Own the Moment." The men are also represented by the same public relations firm.
Since the firing, multiple allegations have come out suggesting that Carl stepped out on his marriage more than once.
Carl and Laura, who share three children, have reportedly been in "intense therapy" following the scandal. Further, on Dec. 8, People magazine reported that Carl was seeking treatment for "pastoral burnout."
"He has no ill will towards the church and recognizes that they needed to take some course of action to address his missteps," a source told the mag.
Carl's infidelity was said to be a primary reason for his falling out with Justin and Hailey Bieber.
"Carl's cheating has caused irreparable damage with many people he was close with, including Justin and Hailey," a source said following news of the firing in early November. "They were both extremely shocked and disappointed when Carl's confession came out."
